Places to see in ( Sardinia - Italy ) Costa Paradiso
Places to see in ( Sardinia - Italy ) Costa Paradiso
They call Costa Paradiso heaven on earth and its coastline and scenery is worth a journey to experience. In this part of the Sardinian coastline you’ll find sandy beaches, a sea that glistens in the sun, and some wonderfully secluded places to relax. Sardinia is a beautiful island but head to the Costa Paradiso and you’ll be in heaven. The Costa Paradiso is located on the North Coast of Sardinia and is perfect for a chilled out break in the sun. This area stretches from Santa Teresa di Gallura to the small town of Castelsardo. The sea is a big attraction with beautiful beaches and spectacular granite rocks shaped by the sands. Off shore the deep waters are a big draw for scuba divers with many interesting and scenic dives from Santa Teresa di Gallura. There is sailing too, and windsurfing. For most people the distinctive inlets along the coast are one of the features of Costa Paradiso and why it is a popular destination. They run for 8 kilometers along the coastline from Monte Tinnari to Punta Cruzitta and are a delight to discover. These inlets have small secluded beaches that are scenic, romantic and ideal for those wanting to escape the crowds.
In Costa Paradiso it really is possible to have a beach all to yourself. The inlets are often considered the hidden treasures of Costa Paradiso with all of them different from the other. Some have natural swimming pools whilst others are characterised by the dramatic granite rocks. The pink cliffs of granite make this a spectacular coastline to explore, especially viewing the sunset. Of course Costa Paradiso has larger beaches to enjoy such as Cala Li Cossi which is just 10 minutes from the port. You’ll find many more to explore that are within a 40 minute drive of the main resort. Try Cala Spinosa or Rene Bianco for a lovely day by the sea. And the main airport at Alghero is just 100 kilometers away. For visitors to Costa Paradiso the ferry and airport at Olbia are a lot closer and more practical.
Costa Paradiso is a privately run resort where the owners maintain the area including the roads. It means that as a visitor you’ll have a level of exclusivity when using some of the beaches and the area around the resort. Even though Sardinia is a busy and popular holiday destination you’ll find peace and solitude in Costa Paradiso. Guests can choose from beautiful villas to rent when coming to Costa Paradiso and many are just a few minutes from the sea. The resort has some good restaurants, shops and even a disco and sports centre.
You can literally stay in the resort for your entire vacation with everything you need to hand. Or, you can head to the neighbouring towns and countryside to see even more of Sardinia. The 18th century town of Santa Teresa di Gallura was further developed in the 1960s and has some great bars and restaurants. You’ll find coastal boat trips here too and you can even see the tip of Corsica from the town. Close by the Bronze Age settlement of Complesso nuragico di Lu Brandali is an interesting place to visit.
Costa Paradiso is famed for its Mediterranean vegetation as well as the pink granite coastline. There are lots of beautiful walks in the area and you can also rent bicycles to explore the countryside. Photographers will delight at the sunsets and the distinctive rock formations that define the coastline. For many people coming to Sardinia, the food is a big attraction and costa Paradiso is no exception.
Whilst the villas have self-catering facilities you’ll find fabulous seafood in the restaurants and local markets for regional specialties. Santa Teresa di Gallura has one of the best markets around where you can stock up on local cheeses and fruits. For a relaxing holiday in a welcoming and magnificent setting head to Costa Paradiso where you will very quickly discover why it is simply called heaven.

Sardegna a Myth in the Mediterranean Sea
A wild island. The island of the NU (water) RA (sun) GHE (Green Earth) . With an evocative language, this video tells the foundations of the ancient history of the island of Sardinia and the relationship between Man and Mother Earth. A narrative between myth and reality. Sardinia is an island of fertility, as it was Atlantis, according to Plato. His words, at the beginning, we recall the myth: Sardinia, the island of Myth in the heart of the Mediterranean.

Who could resist a Ryan Air flight to Alghero for £10 all in? Not me... and not my brother... so, without even knowing whether Alghero was in the north, south, east or west of Sardinia, we bought flights, packed a tent and headed off on a whim. What a fine place Alghero turned out to be! It's really easy to get to, has great beaches, an interesting and lively old town, good shops in the new town, a wonderful campsite (La Mariposa) and excellent food... What more could you ask for? The evening passagiata is a ritual all over Italy and here we enjoyed watching three generations stroll along the thick fortress walls of the old town, all looking like nominations for Hollywood's best dressed awards. Our days were spent relaxing on the beaches (which at weekends got so busy that it was a challenge to find towel space) captivated by the huge range of physiques... toned brown beach-babes in barely there bikinis, pumped up Italian Stallions in designer board shorts sporting jewel encrusted bug-eye sunglasses, leathered bellies overhanging oh too small speedos, and flabby tourists from Northern Europe their bodies covered in a patchwork of red sunburn on pristine white skin. One thing we really liked about Alghero was the fact that you could walk along the beach to the old town and find a completely different atmosphere - romantic restaurants offer dinner al fresco as the sun goes down.... shame I was with my bother and not with Paul as the ambiance was wasted on us! But the sunsets were perfect anyway. One restaurant that was definitely a hit with us both was Son de Mar, which is located on the ground floor of Hotel Tarragona in Via Gallura between the Old Town and the Lido, (it runs away from the sea at the Lido end of the marina). This large pizzeria offers delicious, thin crust pizza by the metre, cooked over wood, in a traditional pizza oven. You can choose a different flavour for every 25 cms or so. This is a family orientated restaurant and would be a treat for kids whose eyes are sure to pop when they see the pizzas being delivered to the table.... ours did!

The sea
In the still of the night
As man slumbers behind the folds,
the forest proclaims:
I am the power
Brought by the sun from
The heart of the earth.
The sea remains quiet, saying to itself,
I am the power.
The rock says,
The ages erected me as a monument
Until the Judgment Day.
The sea remains silent saying to itself,
I am the monument.
The wind howls
I am strong,
I separate the heavens from the earth.
The sea remains quiet, saying to itself,
The wind is mine.
The river says
I am the pure water
That quenches the thirst of the earth.
The sea remains silent saying to itself,
The river is mine.
The summit says,
I stand high like a star
In the center of the sky.
The sea remains quiet saying to itself,
The summit is mine.
The brain says,
I am a ruler;
The world is in those who rule.'
The sea remains slumbering saying, in its sleep,
All is mine.

Places to see in ( Sardinia - Italy ) Villaputzu
Places to see in ( Sardinia - Italy ) Villaputzu
Villaputzu, Bidda de Putzi or Biddeputzi in Sardinian language is a municipality in the Province of South Sardinia in the Italian region and island of Sardinia, located about 45 kilometres northeast of the Sardinian capital Cagliari. Its ancient roads and stone houses match the shape of the mouth of the Flumendosa river. Villaputzu, a village with five thousand inhabitants, lies a short distance from the southeastern coast of the Island, along which there are stretches of sand and promontories with inlets.
Four kilometres from the village, you will find the marvellous Porto Corallo and its modern tourist port, dominated by a tower, which is one of six making up the Aragonese defence system (16th century). Nearby, there is the captivating Porto Tramatzu: fine sand set in Mediterranean greenery. Further north, there is the beach of Quirra (or Murtas), which is only partly accessible due to military restrictions. Next to the coastline, alluvial plains with ponds open up and are the habitat of the western swamphen, the mallard and the greater flamingo. This unspoilt scenery combines sun and sea with birdwatching, biking and trekking. As you explore further, you will encounter dense woods: you can walk amidst the ruins of industrial archaeology, like the mine of Baccu Locci, and grottoes with intricate underground passages, stalactites and stalagmites.
Villaputzu's origins can be identified with Phoenician-Punic towns and the river port of Sarrapos (hence the name Sarrabus), dating back to the 7th century BC. It later became a Roman village, as is documented in the Itinerarium Antonini. The current village gravitates around the parish church of Santa Caterina of Alexandria. The Late Gothic church of San Giorgio Martire is also worth visiting. It was rebuilt in the 16th century on a previous 12th century structure. Among the rural churches, that of San Nicola stands out. It is a very rare example of a Sardinian Romanesque red brick building.
The little church stands at the foot of the mountain of Castello di Quirra (13th century), places in which historical tales are told of sieges, along with legends about the Carroz family. The mountain has seven caves on different levels, where artefacts from the Palaeolithic era and from Roman and Medieval settlements have been found. There are infinite traces of prehistoric times in the territory: Domus de Janas necropolis of Torre Murtas and of S'Oru, underground interment of Casa Forrus, Pseudo-Nuraghi, single-tower and complex Nuraghi, Tombs of Giants and the sacred well of Is Pirois, built on the top of the Nuraghe.
The Fires of Sant'Antonio Abate, the carnival and the festivity of San Giorgio (in May) animate the village and the festival of the launeddas, in August, is the event par excellence: players from all over the island perform here. A similar concert, Canti di Canne, is staged on 26 December at San Giorgio. The musical instrument, consisting of three pipes played using the 'circular breathing' technique, has primordial native origins.
Villaputzu boasts centuries of use of this instrument: skilled masters hand down this priceless heritage to young players. On the subject of traditions, you can admire fabrics, wicker baskets, wooden and ceramic objects in the summer, during the Sarrabus handicrafts exhibition. Citrus fruits stand out among the agricultural products. The exquisite cuisine is the result of ancient customs: culurgionis and malloreddus, char-grilled meat and fish and pastries like pardulas and pabassinas.

Italy - Sardinia's Beautiful Coastal Towns - Timelapse Video - 4K
Alghero, Arbatax, Bosa, Buggerru or Castelsardo are some of the Sardinia's most beautiful coastal towns. Probably unsurprisingly Sardinia gets its share of dusty weather due to its relative proximity to Africa as strong winds can blow Sahara sand far, far away (as far as Iceland or Mexico as it was the case this summer). I got my share of those conditions during my visit. Some of those sunsets could have been more dramatic and sun should not have disappeared beyond layer of dust an hour too early. It was more like experiencing dusty sunsets of Middle East than Europe, still Sardinia is a beautiful island to explore even under layer of Sahara sand that most people might mistake for hazy weather.
