Mt.Tamalpais State Park, Info Mtg.-Easy Grade Tr.Conversion, Mill Valley,CA 3/12/16
Shown here is the first 7min-45sec of the meeting, up to the beginning of the Q&A. For the following.
The conversion of the Easy Grade Hiking Trail in Mt.Tamalpais State Park is a very controversial issue between the mountain biking, hiking and environmental communities.
CA State Park's were responsive to this controversy in sending four CA State Park professionals to the above meeting to explain the paperwork requirements and those processes needed to enable construction to begin.
The first half of that approval process is over and approved. The CEQA (CA Envir.Qual.Act) process is underway now. Public comment period is unknown thought to be before July 1, 2016.
The above Presentation was given by:
Alexandra Stehl, Calif.Trails Manager,
Victor Bjelajac, Project Manager, Easy Grade Trail Conversion.

Follow along as we head out to Mt Tam, just north of San Francisco and Muir Woods. We start out hiking the Verna Dunshee trail which loops around Mt Tam near the peak. After that we head up to the east peak of Mt Tam via the Plank Walk Trail.
Chasing birds around a mountain. Meeting an infant hiker out on her very first hike. Walking the Plank to a rocky end. We don't get out to the north bay very often, but hikes like this remind us of how much is within reach of a single day and a little effort.

Driving Around Tiburon, Belvedere Island and Moore Rd Pier in Marin County, California
Tiburon is an incorporated town in Marin County, California. It is located on the Tiburon Peninsula, which reaches south into the San Francisco Bay. The smaller city of Belvedere (formerly a separate island) occupies the south-west part of the peninsula and is contiguous with Tiburon. Tiburon is bordered by Corte Madera to the north and Mill Valley to the west, but is otherwise mostly surrounded by the Bay. Besides Belvedere and Tiburon, much of the peninsula is unincorporated,[9] including portions of the north side and the communities of Strawberry and Paradise Cay.
The population of Tiburon was 8,962 at the 2010 census. Belvedere and Tiburon share a post office.[10]
The city's name derives from the Spanish word tiburón, which means shark. The name was first given to the peninsula on which the city is situated, and probably inspired by the prevalence of locally native leopard sharks in the surrounding waters. Tiburon was formerly the southern terminus of the San Francisco and North Pacific Railroad (subsequently the Northwestern Pacific Railroad), which transported freight for transfer to barges for shipping to cities around San Francisco Bay. It is now a commuter and tourist town, linked by fast ferry services to San Francisco and with a concentration of restaurants and clothes shops. It is the nearest mainland point to Angel Island and a regular ferry service connects to the island.
Belvedere is an incorporated city located on the San Francisco Bay in Marin County, California, United States.[9] Consisting of two islands and a lagoon, it is connected to the Tiburon Peninsula by two causeways. At the 2010 census, the population was 2,068.[10] The per-capita (per person) income of Belvedere residents in the year 2000 was $250,000,[10] making it one of the highest-income cities in California and the eighth highest-income community in the United States (highest with a population of over 1,000 residents). Belvedere and Tiburon share a post office and the 94920 zip code.
Laws Railroad Museum And Historic Site Tour - Laws/Bishop California
This video takes us on a tour of the Laws Railroad Museum and Historic Site in Laws, California which is a few miles outside of Bishop, California.
The museum is free to enter and focuses on railroad and mining history. There are 11 acres of indoor and outdoor exhibits as well as a mock up of a mine and mill.
We visited for at least two hours with Ron Morefield, who gave us a great demonstration of a couple hit and miss engines, plus the history behind several more engines, that are there at the museum. There is also the original depot and the Slim Princess, a narrow gauge train that served the rail stop at Laws. It is a great museum that will take at least a few hours to explore.
Here are links to two related videos about the hit and miss engines.
