SUBSCRIBE: - Let's visit the ancient Acropolis of Rhodes (Modern Greek: Ακρόπολη της Ρόδου) which is an acropolis dating from the Classical Greek period (5th–3rd century BC) 3 kilometers from the centre of Rhodes, in the island with the same name, Greece.

The partially reconstructed part of the site consists of the Temple of Apollo (also, as alternatives Athena Polias and Zeus Polieus) below which is a stadium and a small theatre. It is included in a large park, Monte Smith, named for English Napoleonic admiral William Sidney Smith.
Rhodes, the largest of Greece’s Dodecanese islands, is known for its beach resorts, ancient ruins and remnants of its occupation by the Knights of St. John during the Crusades. The city of Rhodes has an Old Town featuring the medieval Street of the Knights and the castlelike Palace of the Grand Masters. Captured by the Ottomans and then held by the Italians, the palace is now a history museum.
Greece is a country in southeastern Europe with thousands of islands throughout the Aegean and Ionian seas. Influential in ancient times, it's often called the cradle of Western civilization. Athens, its capital, retains landmarks including the 5th-century B.C. Acropolis citadel with the Parthenon temple. Greece is also known for its beaches, from the black sands of Santorini to the party resorts of Mykonos.

Na wzgórzu 3 km od obecnego centrum miasta Rodos znajdują się ruiny starożytnego akropolu z epoki hellenistycznej z III-II w. p.n.e. – odrestaurowany teatr i stadion wraz z kilkoma kolumnami Świątyni Apolla.

Die Akropolis von Rhodos ist eine antike Akropolis, die vor allem in der Zeit vom 5. Jahrhundert v. Chr. bis in das 3. Jahrhundert v. Chr. ausgebaut wurde. Sie erhebt sich rund drei Kilometer vom Zentrum der modernen Stadt Rhodos entfernt auf der gleichnamigen Insel in Griechenland. Man kann einen Tempel des Apollon sowie einen der Athena Polias und des Zeus Polieus, außerdem ein Stadion und ein kleines Odeion besichtigen.

Monte Smyth. De Akropolis van Rhodos is een acropolis die uit de Hellenistische periode (3de-2de eeuw v.Chr) dateert. De Akropolis ligt op 3 kilometer van het centrum van Rhodos stad.

De gedeeltelijk gereconstrueerde deel van de site bestaat uit de 'Tempel van Apollo (ook, als alternatieven Athena Polias en Zeus Polieus) waaronder een stadion en een klein theater. Het is opgenomen in een groot park, Monte Smith, genoemd naar Engels Napoleontische admiraal William Sidney Smith.

De oorspronkelijke opgraving werd door de Italiaanse School voor Archeologie uitgevoerd in Athene 1912-1945. (Bron: Wikipedia).
