Oxford Medieval Mystery Cycle 2019: Judgement
This play was part of the Oxford Medieval Mystery Cycle performed at St Edmund Hall on 27 April 2019. For further information about all the plays and performers, please visit seh.ox.ac.uk/mystery-cycle.
Summary of the Play
For the last play in the cycle, a group of Oxford students from various disciplines present their imagining of Judgement Day, when the good souls are to be taken to paradise while the evil are damned to an eternity of punishment. While the original sense of the story has been preserved, some of the details presented in this version differ, bringing the tale into the modern age to suggest who might be at risk if this cataclysmic event were to take place here and now. Featuring good and evil human souls, demons, an angel and Jesus himself, this play will bring the cycle – and time itself – to a very permanent end.

How dangerous is Oxford for cyclists?
There is a 10 year high of cycling accidents in Oxfordshire. Craig Punfield went to meet Simon Hunt from Cyclox to discuss the issue.
The County Council did respond to our questions with regards to Simon Hunt's issues on cycling safety:
Why do you believe the increase in cycling accidents has occured?
As Chief Fire Officer David Etheridge very clearly said to the Oxford Mail recently, we believe this is because there are more more and more cyclists on the road overall and that this is increasing all the time – not because of “the condition of the roads”.
What do you say to the people who say the council hasn't done enough to maintain the roads?
Statistics prove that the condition of Oxfordshire’s roads is slightly better than the national average. There is nothing unusual or unique about the state of Oxfordshire’s roads. All councils are having to make cutbacks due to the very well-publicised cuts to public sector funding. The council is in the process of saving £290m from 2010 to 2018 and believes it may have to save up to £50m up to 2020 when the next cuts to public sector funding coming along. Other councils across the nation are in similar situations.
Do you have any plans to improve the roads, particularly in the city centre?
We will always do the best we can with the limited funding we have. The council is in the process of saving £290m from 2010 to 2018 and believes it may have to save up to £50m up to 2020 when the next cuts to public sector funding coming along. Other councils across the nation are in similar situations

Scrabble on Bikes on the Streets of Oxford
Here at Cycle Oxford we're all about finding news challenges for Oxford's cycling community. Challenges that test more than your legs... like Scrabble on Bicycles.
You get an hour to find as many of the 30 Scrabble tiles we've hidden around our beautiful city. Collect all 30 or just 7, it doesn't matter because on arriving at the Scrabble board you have to select 7 tiles to enter the game with.
You don't get to refresh any tiles laid on the board, 7 tiles is it. You're only allowed one of each letter, and there's no bonus for laying 7 tiles at once. The highest score wins.
The next Oxford Scrabble on Bicycles is on March 20th starting at 2.30pm from Broad Street, Oxford.
It ends at Oxford Cycle Workshop Training for tea, scones and scrabble until we have a winner
Scrabble on Bicycles was made possible by the kind support of

Oxford Bike Cull
Oxford is a cycling town, with bikes parked everywhere. There are so many that the bike racks get full, forcing cyclists to lock up to any stationary object. Abandoned bikes make the problem worse, using up good spaces. So every year city officials hunt for old rusty bikes left behind by college students. Here is their story.
