'Body' spotted at bottom of cliff as emergency services launch rescue operation
A search for a body has been launched after reports that a person was seen at the bottom of a chalk cliff on England's south-east coast, say police. Kent Police officers and members of the Coastguard were called to St Margaret’s Bay, Dover, at about 12.20pm on Saturday. A team is attempting to locate and recover the body near the South Foreland Lighthouse on the White Cliffs of Dover. Footage posted on social media shows a search and rescue team member preparing to abseil down the face of the cliff with a stretcher strapped to his back. Are you at the scene? St Marget's Bay is set on the South Foreland Heritage Coast between Dover and Deal.

Roman Lighthouse (Pharos)
The Roman Pharos (Lighthouse) in the grounds of Dover Castle.
Roman Lighthouse or Pharos, dating from around 46-50 AD during the reign of the Emperor Claudius 41-54 AD and, just after the invasion of Britain in 43 AD; the Roman army possibly first coming ashore here or further along the Kent coast at Walmer. There was a second Roman lighthouse at Breden-stone on the Western Heights but nothing much of that remains.
