????“Thou shalt have no other gods before me.”
Exodus 20:3 KJV
????Shrine of St. Joseph of the Mountains...”A Catholic shrine with Stations of the Cross statues made of concrete in 1939 by starving folk artist Felix Lucero, who lived under a bridge in Tucson. Burned by a wildfire in 2013, but the statues still stand. there is no admission charge. There is a path to follow and plaques to read among lifesize statues of St. Joseph with carpenter's tools, the Last Supper, the stations of the cross, crucifixion, resurrection, etc., all made of concrete. It was built over several years by a guy who was divinely inspired among oak trees and granite boulders in the foothills a few blocks west of Yarnell, off highway 89. There is a sign on the highway. It is in a constant state of expansion. There are rest rooms, nearby picnic area, and information center. Open during daylight hours.”????

Ride South from Yarnell, AZ
89 South coming down the hill from Yarnell. Backpack mount for GoPro using 3/4 PVC tubing. Mic is remote mounted on backpack to reduce wind noise. 1500 ft descent.
Yarnell AZ
Took a day trip with a buddy up to Yarnell AZ. This is the first video to include any type of editing, not great editing but editing none the less.
We hit the town of Yarnell and on the way back down we visited the memorial for the 19 firefighters that were lost in the fire in 2017. Okay okay, so we only stopped at the trailhead to the actual memorial but it was pretty cool and one of these days I do plan on making the hike.
I did try to minimize the wind noise during the faster riding parts but you may need to adjust your volume still, sorry about that. Shooting for a new mic soon.

Yarnell Hill Memorial Service The Star-Spangled Banner
Our St. Mel Music Director, Francesco AlleRuzzo and choir member, Bob McCulloch traveled to Prescott Valley, AZ to participate in an interfaith memorial service for the 19 firefighters from Prescott who were killed on June 30 while fighting the Yarnell Hill Fire. The 19 members of the Granite Mountain Hotshots squad perished on June 30 in the worst wildfire tragedy in Arizona history and the worst in the nation since 1933. John K. Flaherty, Director of Liturgy & Music at LMU, organized the music for the interfaith service which had instrumentalists and a choir of 100 people from several states who participated in this memorial. Francesco AlleRuzzo played the keyboards for the memorial service and Bob McCulloch sang with the bass section, as representatives of St. Mel Parish. The Greater Arizona Congress choir sang On Eagle's Wings, You Raise Me Up and closed with the Irish traditional song May The Road Rise Up to Meet You. The interfaith Memorial Service was held in Prescott Valley at Tim's Toyota Center at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 9. Vice-President Joseph Biden represented President Barack Obama and the United State of America and Governor Jan Brewer, Senator McClain, Senator Flake represented the state of Arizona. A host of cabinet secretaries, United States congressmen, local officials and firefighting representative were also in attendance. Please keep these brave men, their families and community in your prayers as we ask God to take these brave firefighters home into His care and to look after the loved ones they have left behind.

Helicopter View Of Yarnell Hill
There are many great roads near Prescott, Az and since I enjoy riding them on my motorcycle, I wanted to see what they look like from a birds eye view. This one is of Yarnell Hill. This footage was taken in the middle of November 2012 and it had snowed a few days prior. This video starts at Yarnell, Az and travels down the hill and back to Yarnell, AZ. They have done some road construction and have laid down some new asphalt. Be careful out there!
Yarnell Daze Festival and Parade 2019
We headed up to “Where the Desert Breeze Meets the Mountain Air,” Yarnell, Arizona to take in the 50th Annual Yarnell Daze community festival and parade. Small town community festivals are the best! After that we visited the Granite Mountain Hotshots Memorial State Park to pay our respects to the 19 brave firefighters who lost their lives protecting the community of Yarnell from the devastating Yarnell Hill wildfire in June 2013. From there, it was across the desert on a “recon mission” to Alamo Lake State Park to check out its potential as a future camping destination. Check out the video to hear our review!

Rain in Yarnell, Arizona
Forecast for five days of rain, this is the first hour!
Nineteen (Tribute to Yarnell Firefighters)
Nineteen young Arizona firefighters died this past weekend (June 30th, 2013) fighting the Yarnell Hill fire in Yarnell, AZ (northwest of Phoenix near Prescott). While reading some of the articles about the firefighters, I came across a tribute poem by Mae Stein, a local poet. The graphic you see is her original poem. With a moment of inspiration, I quickly threw together a song which I titled Nineteen. The lyrics I wrote are based on Stein's poem.
This recording is pretty raw. I didn't do any editing for errors (there is an annoying rattling string that plagued me throughout, but I left it in there), and mastering of the tracks is at a minimum, so it's essentially what you would get at a live performance.
This tribute is my small contribution to honor these brave men. Please include their families and friends in you prayers and thoughts.
Nineteen
Music and lyrics by JC Cole.
Lyrics based on a poem by Mae Stein.
Arizona burns, it also bleeds.
Weather dried trees, the fire feeds.
Ravaged land, ravaged hearts.
A bolt of lightning this fire starts.
Good men, young and brave,
Risked it all, our land to save.
Died on Yarnell Hill with a firefightin' will.
Nineteen.
Wildfires 'round, strong winds blew.
Savin' our hill, the strong brave crew.
Took their place, a fire to fight,
Arizona burned through day and night.
Good men, young and brave,
Risked it all, our land to save.
Died on Yarnell Hill with a firefightin' will.
Nineteen.
Good men, young and brave,
Risked it all, our land to save.
Died on Yarnell Hill with a firefightin' will.
Nineteen.
God will reward, their achievement done.
Perished in fire, in a hope to save some.
Good men, young and brave,
Risked it all, our land to save.
Died on Yarnell Hill with a firefightin' will.
Good men, young and brave,
Risked it all, our land to save.
Died on Yarnell Hill with a firefightin' will.
Nineteen.

Arizona Highways: White Spar AZ 89 Yarnell Hill from Top to Bottom
Yarnell Hill, is a stretch of Arizona 89, the Old White Spar highway, that leads from Yarnell, AZ (elevation around 5,000-feet), to Congress, AZ (Elevation about 235-feet). It winds, twists and turns for eight-miles, down from the Colorado Plateau, and is the original pass through the Weaver Mountains to the first Capitol of Arizona, Prescott. Every weekend, motorcyclists and sports-car enthusiasts challenge this deadly eight-mile stretch of road. I never exceeded 35-mph in this video, and averaged about 29-mph. Shot after leaving the weekly poker game at the American Legion Post in Yarnell, and heading down the hill to Congress. Please check out:

Mormon pioneer roots run deep in Gila Valley
Much of the state's history is tied to Mormon history. Pioneers settled in the Gila Valley in the late 1870s and early 1880s, bringing with them a strong work ethic and a desire to build new lives through agriculture and their faith. The town of Pima may not be as bustling as it once was, but it remains dear to those who remain.

Yarnell Hill Drive with my Friend Gail | After the Big Fire of 2013
This was a drive Gail really wanted to do and see the aftermath of the fire that killed 19 hotshots - the Granite Mountain Hotshots from Prescott Arizona (my summer home town). We didn't get to the burn site itself but toured the city a bit and caught these shots.
