Driving in Delhi 4K - India

Delhi's urban area is now considered to extend beyond the NCT boundary and include the neighbouring cities of Faridabad, Gurgaon, Noida and Ghaziabad in an area now called Central National Capital Region (CNCR) with an estimated 2016 population of over 26 million people, making it the world's second-largest urban area after Tokyo (Japan) according to United Nations.
It is the second-wealthiest city after Mumbai in India, with a total wealth of $450 billion and home to 18 billionaires and 23,000 millionaires. Delhi has the highest per capita GDP in India with ₹3,29,000 (US$4,600) and total GDP stood at ₹6.86 lakh crore (US$96 billion).
Delhi has been continuously inhabited since the 6th century BC. Through most of its history, Delhi has served as a capital of various kingdoms and empires. It has been captured, ransacked and rebuilt several times, particularly during the medieval period, and modern Delhi is a cluster of a number of cities spread across the metropolitan region.

Truck drivers in India - From Bihar to Bangalore 8/8
Jelle travels in a traditional truck from Mumbai, former Bombay, to Delhi. Indian lorries are driving artworks, and keep India running. Jelle dives into the truck drivers world, and drives along with the truck drivers: a father and his son Singh. During this four-day drive they pass a wedding, false toll gates and the driver's birthplace in the middle of the Rajasthan desert. A beautiful journey for everyone who loves trucks, and road-trips.
Episode 8: Truck drivers in India
Original title: De weg naar huis
Jelle Brandt Corstius travels through India. Jelle previously tried to understand Russia, and now, he is now trying to capture the essence of India. This country is poorer than the poorest 26 African countries altogether: 426 million poor people are in India. The contrast between the different layers of society is striking: there is is also huge wealth in this country. Brandt Corstius travels from Bihar, located in the poor east, to Bangalore, the technological giant in the rich southwest. A road trip full of adventures, thanks to Jelle’s peculiar humor and his keen eye on the world.

Connaught place is Delhi's pride, there is nothing better than sitting in Central park on a warm winter afternoon.
The Central Park in CP or Connaught place has ben rebuilt in 2005/6 after the construction of the Delhi Metro station, Rajiv Chowk, which in a way is like the heart of the metro network in Delhi, it is also the interchange for the yellow and blue lines of the metro and is one of the largest and busiest stations on the entire network. Today, right above the station in Central park, cultural events are regularly hosted. CP, is a hub, most youngsters planning an evening out do connect here, and then kick off the evening. The list of restaurants, street food and brands like Keventers all call CP home.

Driving on Delhi Eastern Peripheral Expressway (NE II) - India
Eastern Peripheral Expressway or National Expressway II (also EPE) is a 135 km (84 mi) long, six-lane expressway passing through the states of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.
The expressway starts from Kundli, Sonipat, passing through Baghpat, Ghaziabad and Noida districts in UP and Faridabad district in Haryana before finally joining the Western Peripheral Expressway near Palwal.
The expressway has been constructed at a cost of ₹11,000 crore (US$1.6 billion) to relieve traffic congestion in the Faridabad - Ghaziabad stretch and also to prevent pollution causing commercial vehicles from entering Delhi.
Government of India approved funding for the expressway in August 2015 on build-operate-transfer mode under NHDP Phase VI.
Eastern Peripheral Expressway is expected to divert more than 50,000 trucks away from Delhi and reduce air pollution in Delhi by 27%. The expressway was inaugurated on 27 May 2018 by the Prime Minister of India.

WORLD TRIP BY ROAD: 2 INDIANS | 90,000 KM | 6 CONTINENTS | 50 COUNTRIES | ROAD TRIP | SELF DRIVE
The Great Indian World Trip!
An unprecedented journey where we drove 90,000 km through 50 countries in 6 continents. We spent 2 years planning this round the world expedition which we love to describe as “The Mother of all Road Trips”.
We split our journey into 6 legs for the 6 continents
Leg 1: ASIA
Our epic journey started from India Gate, New Delhi. We crossed the Indian border and drove through Myanmar, a hidden gem in the sub-continent that was till a few years ago closed to tourists. From Myanmar, we drove through Thailand and Malaysia before concluding our Asia leg in Singapore.
Leg 2: AUSTRALIA
We shipped our vehicle to Darwin, Australia where we drove more than 17000 km. Here, we created a Guinness World Record for 'The longest journey by car in a single country'.
Leg 3: AFRICA
After shipping our car from Darwin, Australia to Mombasa, Kenya, we drove all the way from Kenya to South Africa covering Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe on the way. The African odyssey concluded in Cape Agulhas, the southernmost tip of the African continent.
Leg 4: SOUTH AMERICA
Our vehicle was then shipped to Buenos Aires, Argentina from where we drove to Ushuaia, the southernmost city in the world. From Ushuaia, we took the Pan American highway and drove all the way up to Mexico crossing Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala. The journey took us through the Death Road in Bolivia, rated as the Worlds’ Most Dangerous Road!
Leg 5: NORTH AMERICA
We crossed the Mexico-US border and drove through 18 states in the USA. We visited Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, Hollywood, Seattle, Tennessee, Philadelphia, Mount Rushmore, Yellowstone National Park and Canada before we reached Deadhorse in Alaska, the northernmost tip of Alaska where we were greeted by the Northern Lights! Our North American leg was concluded in the Big Apple.
Leg 6: EUROPE
From New York, we shipped our car to the United Kingdom and drove all the way up to John O Groats, the northernmost tip of United Kingdom. We drove south to London, crossed the English Channel and entered mainland Europe. We covered 23 countries in Western and Eastern Europe before we reached Turkey, the 50th country of our 15-month long journey.

INDIA TO THAILAND BY ROAD: 4500 KM | 22 INDIANS | 3 COUNTRIES | ROAD TRIP I SELF DRIVE I EPIC
Adventures Overland has made history yet again by facilitating the most talked about INDIA to
BANGKOK drive for 22 Indians who drove across 3 countries, clocking 4500 km by crossing 2
International land borders in Indian vehicles.
Some of the highlights from the expedition:
• WW II era bridges - Crossing 46 iron bridges, all within 100 km. These bridges were built
during the World War 1 and is maintained by the Border Road Organization of India.
• Bagan - The city of temple: Bagan is home to around 4,456 pagodas. It was such a sight to
visit this place as no matter where we looked, we could see the ancient, magnificent
temples. It is a sea of pagodas, and while you’re there, you will be able to feel the calm,
peace and vibrations of this holy land.
• Inle Lake - This beautiful freshwater lake located in the Shan Plateau, is home to the Intha
people, who are known for their unique leg-rowed traditional boats.
• Mandalay - The former capital of Burma, Mandalay has a rich and exotic past. This city
houses the historical prison where famous Indian freedom fighters like Bal Gangadhar Tilak
were imprisoned during the British Raj. Half of Burma’s monks reside in this city and it has its
share of royal palaces and monasteries.
• Golden Rock - Soaking in the atmosphere charged with magic and devotion as we visited the
huge and stunning golden rock. It’s a rock coated in gold and topped with a stupa, balancing
itself on top of a mountain and enjoys the status of being the holiest shrine for the
Buddhists.
• Mae Sot border - The end of our drive through Myanmar and the beginning of our drive
through Thailand. The spirit of the group was palpable as they realized that their dream to
drive from India to Bangkok is just a few km away.
Anyone can take a flight to Bangkok, but it takes strong guts to attempt the drive!
Over a period of two weeks, all of us experienced new highs, dealt with breakdowns and other
obstacles together as a team, sampled exotic food, drove long hours at a stretch for many days in a
row, and finally, together, achieved the common goal-reaching Bangkok by road all the way from
India. The journey connected us and has made us friends for life. Driving for over 10,000 km through
three countries, Road to Bangkok was a test of mettle and skill, with the curious, the brave and the
crazy ones who joined us!
