My Apple Trees Are BLOOMING !
My apple trees are blooming very early this year. I'm concerned as to how this will affect my production. If I get a severe cold snap in the coming weeks, I may lose all the crop.
We'll see...
What are YOUR fruit trees doing? Let us know in a comment.

TEXAS TORNADO EATING TREES - April 13, 2019
Texas tornado caught on camera April 13, 2019 in Lovelady Texas.

This tornado was ongoing by 12:24pm about 3.5 miles west of Lovelady Texas. It appeared larger when I first spotted it in the distance through a break in the trees 2 miles south of highway 1280. It was heading my general direction and caught on camera for about 3 minutes before it weakened. It then appeared to decay just after crossing that highway where it laid down several trees. The storm then heading toward Crockett Texas. Many residents were evacuating south on highway 19. An odd choice of escape considering the tornado would have paralleled closely that highway before crossing it, had it still been on the ground. This storm system would go on to drop tornadoes in Alto Texas.
This was the second tornado I caught on camera this day. The first was a heavily rain wrapped tornado near Ratcliff Texas around 11:30am. Around the same time, a powerful tornado would pass through the town of Franklin Texas.
After the Lovelady storm passed over Crockett Texas, the cells began merging into a bow echo. For two hours I tried to get in front of the line surging approximately 50pmh, but heavy rain, strong wind made it very difficult to drive any faster. It also didn't help that I had to reroute due to numerous large trees completely blocking passage. After the forth or fifth detour, the timely pursuit of the storms moving into Louisiana was impossible. This strong system carried on through the day, evening and night into Dixie Alley where it was continue to sporadically spawn tornadoes.

Trees of Austin
Shot & edited by myself, featuring Parallel by Ross Bugden.
Houston was the capital of Texas. On an 1837-1838 hunting expedition Maribeau B. Lamar proposed moving the capital to not only the center of their very large state, but to this idyllic site north of the Colorado River in central Texas. It was given the name Waterloo, later named after the man known as the Father of Texas, Stephen F. Austin.
Austin officially began in August 1839 when the mayor of Bastrop sold 301 lots at Auction under the trees known today as the Auction Oaks. And those 301 lots are now known as downtown Austin, where the trees still reside - in Republic Square Park.
So the site was chosen for it's natural beauty, and through careful protection and ardent support from the residents it's stayed that way. Certainly no one contributed more to this effort than the late Margret Hofmann.
Also features the Treaty Oak, by far Austin's most famous tree. This tree has a rich history too deep to go into here It's in such poor condition because it was criminally poisoned in 1989. Experts thought the tree dead, but it started producing acorns again in 1997 - which were gathered and sent across Texas.
Also features many others, but the most prominent are the Battle Oaks, Seiders' Oaks, Mother Pecan, Central Park, St. Andrew's, St. Edward's, the Braker Oak, and the largest in town - the great Cypresses of Town Lake.

Houston and Dallas
Space City and Big D
The biggest and third biggest cities in Texas, which is impressive, because everything is bigger in Texas. To say there is a rivalry between the two iconic cities is an understatement.
They are 240 miles, or 386 km apart. About 3 and a half hour drive. And yeah, both are huge.
In fact, with around 2.4 million people, Houston is the 4th largest city in the United States. With 1.4 million people, Dallas is the 9th largest. Houston actually is the biggest city in the country by total area. I know, I know. Dallas is part of the 4th largest metro area in the country (7.6 million). I mean, it’s close to Fort Worth and Arlington. Their metro is also known as DFW, or simply The Metroplex. Houston’s metro area is 5th (7 million). And for the rest of this video, I will give you statistics based on their metros areas, unless I state otherwise, mmk?
First of all, Dallas has a lower population density.
Ok next, so apparently there are these rankings by the Globalization and World Cities Research Network that look at global cities. While it considers both Dallas and Houston global cities, Houston is ranked Alpha - and Dallas is ranked at Beta +. Have fun with that in the comments.
Houston is a short drive from the ocean. More specifically, the Gulf of Mexico or even more specifically, Galveston Bay. It’s a Gulf Coast city. Dallas is...uh...a longer drive from the ocean. It’s at the edge of the Great Plains, and you’re not going to see as many palm trees there.
Due to this, Dallas gets more tornadoes and Houston gets more hurricanes. Dallas is at the southern end of what’s known as Tornado Alley, where tornadoes are more common. Dallas has been directly hit by tornadoes multiple times in its history. Houston has been hit by hurricanes multiple times. Most recently, in 2017 Hurricane Harvey caused parts of Houston to flood. Flooding is actually a regularly occurring problem in Houston, but not in Dallas as they’ve figured out a way to tame the mighty Trinity River, for the most part. Related to this...Houston is sinking. Literally. Dallas is not.

See How Texas Trees Foundation and Alliance Data Are Working to Reverse Dallas’ Rising Temps
Dallas is the second-fastest warming city in the United States, according to Texas Trees Foundation's Urban Heat Island Management Study of Dallas and its surrounding areas. The study, which was sponsored by Alliance Data, determined, Cities do not cause heat waves - they amplify them. The ramifications of urban heat adversely affect public health, longevity of infrastructure, public opinion, and our economy. And the data from this study reveals that trees help mitigate rising temperatures, improve health of community, offset carbon emissions. Steve Houser on Indian Marker Trees
Oddly shaped trees, such as one in Moss Park, may hold historical information about early Indian travels. In 1997, a small group of local preservationists and Comanche tribal elders crossed into Gateway Park, part of the Trinity River Forest in southern Dallas. Among them was Steve Houser, who grew up in the White Rock area and now lives in Richardson near his tree-care consulting company, Arborilogical Services.

This fruit has been tested on 16 forms of cancer. I will be posting more information about that soon.
Osage Orange tree viewing of fruit, leaves, bark, branches and full view. The fruit is commonly believed to repel insects, a belief that began before insecticides to get rid of roaches.Research has shown that compounds extracted from the fruit may repel insects.
In 2004, the EPA insisted that the selling M. pomifera fruits remove any mention of their supposed pesticidal properties as false advertisements.
Therefore, there is no guarantee of results.
Here are user suggestions handed down to me from previous generations:
Hedge apples are used as a safe pest control alternative to toxic chemicals and have been thought to aid in repelling bugs for more than 100 years. A few of the insects that may be repelled are spiders, crickets, cockroaches and other annoying insects.
For quick results cut to allow juice to evaporate into the air to shoo bugs away.
Or use uncut as a decoration and allow to ooze slowly for longer lasting bug control.
Will last 1 to four months. Discard when fully black or place around outside foundation.
Seeds may germinate in spring if allowed soil.
When fruit gets about 3/4 dark there may be a faint scent.
Some find the scent attractive and others don’t.
Also used in crafts and unique home decor applications.
Leaves are attractive and have a slight gloss to them. A few leaves are usually attached, but not guaranteed.
Maclura pomifera is a deciduous tree.
The distinctive fruit is roughly spherical, bumpy, 3–6 inches in diameter, and turns a bright yellow-green in the fall. The fruits secrete a sticky white latex when cut or damaged.
Place on paper towels or plate.
Despite the name Osage orange, it is only very distantly related to the orange and is instead a member of the mulberry family.
Natural habitat--region all around Dallas, Texas (North Texas) to Austin Texas.
It was widely naturalized throughout the United States as a windbreak to stop soil erosion.
The fruit is not poisonous to humans or livestock, as shown by several studies.
However, it is mostly inedible due to its taste and its extremely hard texture.
Most animals do not like the taste either and avoid it.
The wood of the tree is considered everlasting because it can take a very long time to decompose.
Its use at fence posts is a long lasting example of its longevity.
Native Americans used parts of the tree as a cancer treatment and other health remedies.

Centuries Old Trees Burn in Texas
Firefighters in Texas now have the worst fires in the state's history under control, but they are keeping a wary eye on frequent flare-ups that threaten wooded areas where many people have homes and ranches. The fires have destroyed hundreds of homes and burned more than 1.4-million hectares of land. Most of the fires in recent days have been in wooded areas in east and central Texas, threatening centuries-old trees. As VOA's Greg Flakus reports from the fire zone near Magnolia, Texas, it might take decades to restore some areas devastated by the fires.

I WAS THERE the tornado on march 28th 2000
March 28th 2000 was a day many can not forget.. I met with four people and asked them to tell me their story from that day. These are their stories.
What do you remember?
Here is some detailed information from that evening
During the evening hours of March 28, 2000, a powerful F3 tornado struck downtown Fort Worth, Texas, United States and adjacent areas, causing significant damage to numerous buildings and skyscrapers as well as two deaths. The tornado was part of a larger severe weather outbreak that caused widespread storms across Texas and Oklahoma in late-March, spurred primarily by the moist and unstable atmospheric environment over the South Central United States as a result of an eastward-moving upper-level low and shortwave trough. The tornado outbreak was well forecast by both computer forecast models and the National Weather Service, though the eventual focal point for the severe weather—North Texas—only came into focus on March 28 as the conditions favorable for tornadic development quickly took hold.
The F3 Fort Worth tornado initially began as a relatively weak twister in River Oaks, gradually strengthening as it tracked southeastward and then eastward towards Fort Worth's central business district. The twister damaged 266 homes across its 4 mi long and 250 yd path, out of which 28 were destroyed. Damage surveys indicated that much of the tornado's destruction was due to structural deficiencies in many of the older subdivisions impacted by the tornado. Various high-rise and low-rise buildings in downtown Fort Worth sustained various degrees of structural damage including numerous broken windows. Nine other tornadoes also occurred across North Texas on March 28; although most were relatively inconsequential, another strong F3 tornado impacted portions of Arlington, including Arlington Municipal Airport. Aside from the two deaths caused by the tornado, a third person was killed in north Fort Worth after being struck by baseball-sized hail; this was the first hail-related fatality in the United States since 1979.
