$100 in ISTANBUL in 24 Hours? What Can You Get?!
GUYS, ISTANBUL IS AMAZING!! Have you ever been? If not, this video will convince you to go.
**Watch until the end to see how I almost didn't make it legally into Istanbul**
A few days ago, I spent the wildest 24 hours in Istanbul and budgeted myself with $100 to see how much fun I could have in the city.
This was my 4th visit to Istanbul, and every time I go back, I love it more and more. It might be the most electric and vibrant city in the world.
This is the 5th sequel to my “$100 in 24 Hours” series — but I think it’s the best one because Istanbul is MUCH cheaper than the previous few cities (Hong Kong and Barcelona)... The affordability enabled me to go ALL OUT on a $100 budget — kebabs, kumpir, coffee, baklava, tea, shisha, Efes beer and TONS MORE!
Lastly, the fact that I got into Istanbul, Turkey is a MIRACLE ... Have you heard about the Turkey/USA mutual visa ban?! Just 3 hours before my plane arrived in Istanbul (literally), all U.S citizens were banned to visit Turkey indefinitely (the Turkish government mimicked the U.S.'s ban last week which prohibited Turkish citizens from entering the USA). I read this news while sitting on the runway in Tel Aviv, and I was so nervous that I was gonna get detained, deported and/or questioned by the Turkish immigration, but I made it in safely!!! I think I was the last American to get a visa on arrival. I hope this stupid visa ban goes away, and both U.S. and Turkish citizens are able to visit each other's country again. I hate politics.

Travel via the BIGGEST AIRPORT IN THE WORLD, ISTANBUL | Turkey Travel Vlog
Today we leave Turkey and travel out from the biggest airport in the world, the New Istanbul Airport known as Havalimani...⬇ More Below ✈ Our 220 page guide on how to travel non-stop —
We've had a blast in Turkey, what a cool country to explore! Sad that today we travel on from Istanbul, but pleased we can go via the New Istanbul Airport known as Istanbul Havalimani airport. This is now known as the worlds largest airport as of April 2019, at least it is intended to be the biggest airport in the world as the years pass and more travel comes via the new airport with the various extensions.
???? Grab that free Airbnb credit here —
As of now, Istanbul Havalimani airport can handle 90 million travel passengers a year which doesn't actually make it the current biggest airport in the world. It will officially claim the title of the largest airport in the world once it continues to expand, the goal is 200 million passengers a year - which is almost 100 million more than the current largest.
Either way, very cool to wrap up our Turkey travel vlogs by going out via the soon to be biggest airport in the world! C ya Turkey!

ISTANBUL TO CAPPADOCIA BUS | Turkey Travel Vlog | Travel Talk Tours #1
Istanbul to Cappadocia by bus is long! This is our first travel vlog on our Turkey trip with Travel Talk Tours and we're Kapadokya...✈ Our 220 page guide on how to travel non-stop —
Today is the start of an epic journey around Turkey on the 11 day Anzac tour with Travel Talk Tours (linked below), we'll make about 7 travel vlogs and be sharing the whole experience, beyond just Cappadocia, which is interestingly called Kapadokya by the locals.
In this vlog we start our tour and go from Istanbul to Cappadocia by bus for 12 hours, seeing loads of the Turkey countryside and even travel through snow. Although Istanbul has lots to offer, we'll be sharing a vlog or two from there at the back of the Travel Talk Tour.
Cappadocia is one of the most popular places in Turkey and has been on our bucket list for some time now, mostly because of the hot air ballooning that's famous in the area. It's a crazy landscape that has to be seen to be believed, so check back for our next vlog as we explore Cappadocia in the snow!
Here's the trip we're taking with Travel Talk Tours around Turkey for 11 days —

The World's BIGGEST Airport opens - New Istanbul Airport
The World's Biggest Airport - New Istanbul Airport is fully operational from 6th April 2019. All existing flight operations from current Ataturk Airport will be moved to the new Istanbul Airport.
Let's take a quick peek inside the new Istanbul Airport. The airport took just 42 months to build and represent over 10 billion Euros of investment. Once fully complete it will have capacity for 200 million passengers annually.
Check out the massive (biggest airport terminal building) and its impressive facilities in the video.
Thanks to IGAirport for the drone footage.
-------
Join us for a first glimpse and tour of the brand new, lavish Istanbul airport, which has now replaced Istanbul Ataturk airport as the airport in Turkey for the processing of all commercial passenger flights, leaving the Istanbul Ataturk airport processing mainly only cargo flights.
The new Istanbul airport is situated on the European side of the city in the Arnavutkoy district of Istanbul and is the third international airport to be built in Istanbul. The first stage of the airport’s construction, which has now been completed, has seen the creation of the airport’s main terminal which is now officially the world’s largest airport building under a single roof, spread over a colossal area of a mind boggling 1.4 million square meters.
The airport is expected to handle and process 90 million passengers a year to start with in its current form but there are very ambitious plans to make the airport considerably larger – at the second stage of development, there are plans to add a third independent runway to the airport and the third stage will involve adding a second passenger terminal with a capacity for 60 million more passengers a year, bringing the airport’s capacity to 150 million people per annum and adding a fourth runway.
The final stage of development will involve bringing the number of runways to six and adding satellite terminals providing an extra 50 million passengers a year capacity, bringing the airport to its maximum and fully developed capacity of 200 million passengers a year.
Completion of the airport in its entirety is expected to be finished in 2027, at a cost of 10.2 billion euros. In the end, the airport will have four terminal buildings, interconnected with specially built railway access and will be spread over 3.2 million square meters, with a 6.5 million square meter apron consisting of aeroplane parking for 500 aircraft, VIP lounges, parking for 70,000 cars and even a state palace! It really is an extremely ambitious project and will provide a world-renowned airport for Turkish airlines and other airlines to travel to and from.
In this video, we meet Stephan Schwolgin and also Imbat Boyar, customer experience manager of the airport, for additional insights in to the world’s largest airport and see the 566 check in counters and 228 passport control points, all waiting for the flood of passengers to come. The airport is truly a colossus – it would take you eighteen minutes to walk from end to end of the main terminal building.
Thanks for watching and let us know what you thought of the brand new Istanbul airport in the comments below. We can’t wait to bring you further videos featuring the airport in future, showing the insides in more detail and monitoring the airport’s continued development.

TURKISH FOOD TOUR | Best TURKISH FOOD in Istanbul, Turkey- Pide + Kebab | What TO EAT IN ISTANBUL
TURKISH FOOD TOUR | WHAT TURKISH FOOD TO EAT IN ISTANBUL | STREET FOOD in Istanbul
We're in Istanbul, Turkey! This is one of our favourite cities and we've spent 2 months eating our way around Istanbul to create this series. This 4 part series is about showing you more of the unusual Turkish foods and hunting down where the locals eat. Watch our previous Istanbul series here:
This is our first Istanbul food video. We start with the best pide in the city at a simple pide salonu in Fatih. We love the pide here for its crispy, crunchy dough and fresh ingredients. Next up is a traditional Turkish drink called boza. Boza is a fermented drink made of bulgur, water and sugar. It's commonly drunk in the winter as it's very filling and warming. We sample it at a heritage shop that's been around since 1876- it's said Ataturk drunk boza here once!
Onwards for cağ kebab where lamb is roasted on a horizontal spit, sliced onto a skewer and then crisped up over charcoal. Eaten with lavash (flatbread) and ezme a Turkish salad of tomatoes, parsley, onion and pomegranate molasses, the lamb is absolutely mouthwatering. Our final stop is for a pickle juice at a tursu (pickle) shop in Kadikoy which has been around since 1935. Pickles are a big part of Turkish food culture and almost every meal will include some form of pickled vegetable. We down a pickle juice and some pickles to help us digest all the mouthwatering food we've eaten.
We hope you enjoyed this Istanbul food tour! Thanks for watching and if you want to see more content like this don't forget to subscribe. #turkishfood #istanbulstreetfood #istanbulfood

Things Not to Do in Turkey
Greek, Persian, Byzantine, Roman, and Ottoman cultures all clash beautifully throughout this gorgeous nation, which is home to some of the world’s most noteworthy C*ristian and M*slim landmarks. However, if you want to soak up this unique country’s charms in peace and safety, here’s what NOT to do.
1. Don’t Ignore R*madan
It's a month-long M*slim holiday in which M*slims can’t eat or drink anything between sun up and sundown. The dates change every year, so do some research. Don’t eat or drink in public, and don’t offer anything to a M*slim during daylight hours.
2. Don’t Walk in Front of a Praying Person
M*slim tradition holds that if you walk in front of someone who is praying, then their prayer will not be counted. This holds especially true while you’re visiting a m*sque.
3. Don’t Ignore the Dress Code
Women especially should consider having head covers and both should leave shorts at home. The further you get from big cities, the more likely you are to find M*slims who take offense at what they deem is lascivious dress.
4. Don’t Go Without Learning Turkish
A lot of the people living in Turkey don’t speak English. So, if you’re planning on visiting the country, it’s a good idea to learn a few basic words and phrases in order to communicate more efficiently.
5. Don't Discuss Politics!
The political scene in Turkey is very heated. People are very nice and generally don't wanna discuss politics (It's sort of lose-lose for both sides)
6. Turkish Men Only Talk to Your Male Companion
If you’re a woman it’s possible that you’ll run across Turkish men who only speak to your male counterpart. This is common in rural areas. The man isn’t dismissing you, he’s trying to protect your virtue. It’s a tradition; he’s just being polite.
7. Likewise...
Men Shouldn’t Directly Address a Single Turkish Woman It’s expected that male tourists do not talk to young or single women without proper supervision and prompting. Simply walking up and saying hello is considered threatening.
8. Don’t Leave Any Food on Your Plate
If you leave anything behind, you risk insulting your host as this is an indication that you didn’t like the meal. Of course, since Turkish cuisine is pretty freaking awesome, cleaning your plate shouldn’t be a problem.
9. Don’t forget Bargaining
If you intend to purchase something you find in a shop, it’s polite to try and haggle with the shop owner. Don’t push too hard, but be sure to push a little. It’s considered proper social discourse.
10. Don't miss the coastline!
Turkey has plenty of beautiful coastal cities! These often have the best temperatures in Turkey, Not too hot, Not too cold. They are often full of culture as well!

Join David as he shows you around the top 15 places to see in Istanbul! Istanbul is one of the only transcontinental cities on the planet, spreading across Europe and Asia Minor. As Turkey’s largest city, Istanbul is a bustling hub of culture, history and gastronomy – a cosmopolitan capital in every sense.
David begins in the oldest part of the city, the Sultanahmet District. He begins in the Hippodrome (circus), which served as the center of public life for the Greek, Roman, and Byzantine citizens. Present-day Sultan Ahmed Square has a handful of surviving remnants from ancient times.
Near Sultan Ahmed Square are two of Turkey’s most visited attractions, steps from one another – the Ayia Sofia (Hagia Sophia) and Blue Mosque. The Ayia Sofia is now a museum, but was built as an Eastern Orthodox Basilica in 535 A.D. It was a Christian church for over 900 years before the Ottomans used it as a Mosque for another 481 years. It was the largest house of worship in the world for over 1,000 years!
Across the square is the Blue Mosque. Its name comes from the blue tiles used to decorate the interior. Nearby sits the stunning 15th century Topkapi Palace that served as the home and governmental seat for the Ottoman sultans until the 1850s. A tour will reveal beautiful stonework and intricately decorated staterooms, as well as a crown jewel and Imperial treasury exhibition.
After the palace, David takes us to the Archaeology Museum to show us some of what was uncovered in Istanbul. Perhaps the most impressive thing on display is the Sarcophagus of Alexander the Great with its detailed reliefs depicting Alexander’s life of successful conquering.
Not too far from the museum is the Basilica Cistern – a damp and dark subterranean cavern used to collect water for the city. The Medusa heads were likely stolen from a nearby Greco-Roman city to support the columns. Medusa’s face provided a warning against anyone who dared to tamper with the water supply.
The next day, David heads over to the 300-year-old Cağaloğlu Hamamı for a Turkish bath. This Hammam provides full-service spa treatments including scrubbing, steam baths, and massages. Definitely a MUST experience when in Istanbul.
David then heads to the shores of the Bosphorus for a scenic boat ride along the strait. From the water you’ll get panoramic vistas of the Istanbul skyline and get to enjoy view of other areas of this enormous city.
After arriving back on land, David heads to the Beyoğlu District to beautiful pedestrian-friendly Istiklal Street, or “Independence Avenue” for some lunch. It spans about 1.4 kilometers and is the perfect place for shopping and dining. You can walk or take the Nostalgic Tram in either direction. The end of Istiklal Street takes David into the heart of Istanbul, Taksim Square. In the center of the square is the Monument of the Republic (1928) commemorating the formation of the Turkish Republic in 1923.
Onto the Galata District to see a Whirling Dervish show at the Galata Museum. This 800-year old practice of spinning is used as a physical form of meditation. It is a mysterious and beautiful site to behold.
You can’t visit the Galata District and not notice the Galata Tower. It looks over Istanbul and provides 360-degree views of the city, the Bosphorus, Golden Horn and landmarks.
After all that sightseeing, David works up an appetite so he heads to the Karaköy waterfront to enjoy a cheap meal with a 5-star view. Nearby is the fish market. You can’t get to the Karaköy or Galata without crossing the Galata Bridge. From here you’ll see the skylines of both Sultanahmet and Galata districts.
Lastly, David goes out to one of the most exclusive entertainment complexes in the world. Reina sits along the Bosphorus and offers world-class dining, nightclubs, and beautiful ambiance. Dress to impress and make dinner reservations so you can stay after to party!
