Places to see in ( Sardinia - Italy ) Tortoli
Places to see in ( Sardinia - Italy ) Tortoli
Located on the east coast of Sardinia, Tortoli is a charming town in the midst of a stunning and very rugged coastal landscape. Consisting of beautiful beaches, ample shopping, and comfortable accommodation; Tortoli is also a popular destination for tourists wanting to escape the crowds and get lost in small town Sardinia.
Although the nearby town of Arbatax is better known to tourists, Tortoli is an encounter with a smaller and slightly more authentic experience. There is still an excellent infrastructure within the town, and you will find many shopping options including an extensive variety of vegetables and fruit at the market. Furthermore, the village is situated right next to the mountains in Parco Nazionale del Golfo di Orosei e del Gennargentu and a truly stunning pond – Stagno di Tortoli. Tortoli is very antiquated in appearance, and this is best evidenced in the church of St. Andrew at the very center of town. Consisting of baroque styled facades, this ancient theme continues throughout the village with many beautiful pieces of art ensuring the exterior of these buildings is just as interesting. Featuring San Gemiliano Tower and a nuragic village in San Salvatore Park, there seems to be history and culture at every turn.
As already mentioned, there is also a very enticing range of accommodation which includes the luxurious Orri Hotel and Hotel Antica Posada. In fact, while Tortoli is the kind of travel destination to which customers keep coming back year after year, the luxurious and comfortable nature of these hotels is often the main reason it happens. However, the east coast of Sardinia is renowned for having a rugged appearance and some of the most idyllic stretches in this regard are surrounding the town of Tortoli. Standing tall next to the crystal blue waters of the Mediterranean, the mysterious red cliffs are quite the spectacle.
In many instances, these cliffs are what attract tourists to the region, and they offer an unforgettable sight during sunset and sunrise. And then there are the many beaches dotted along the coastline next to Tortoli. From Cea, Basaura, and Lido di Orri; there are several of these white sandy beaches which never fail to delight tourists, and these are also rather isolated beaches where you can enjoy your small piece of Sardinia in private.
Featuring a tiny airstrip, you can also expect a very secluded experience in the town itself but for a little bit more variety, the above-mentioned town, Arbatax, is just a short distance away. With this in mind, Arbatax is perfect for a day excursion as this will mean taking a ride on the train which travels through stunning scenery between each port. In spite of the small size, it must be noted how Tortoli is an essential hub for Ogliastra – a region in which the tourism and services economy is now even more important than agriculture. For this reason, the tiny airport and harbor still play a very important role
( Sardinia - Italy ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting Sardinia . Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in Sardinia - Italy

Meet the Artist: Enrico David - Hirshhorn Museum
Enrico David (Italian, b. Ancona, 1966) is one of the most original artists working today. He works across various media such as painting, printmaking, and sculpture to create unique objects and imagery that explore the body and its surrounding space. Laced with humor and fantasy, his work not only reminds us of great early twentieth-century sculptors, such as Barbara Hepworth and Henry Moore, but also engages a more surrealist form of image-making that feels both fresh and unpredictable. He has exhibited work in shows across the world, and in 2013, he presented a major installation of paintings, tapestries, and sculptures as part of the Venice Biennale’s The Encyclopedic Palace, curated by Massimiliano Gioni. David returns to Venice this year to represent Italy for the 58th edition of the art world’s celebrated biennial event.
Enrico David: Gradations of Slow Release is the largest US museum survey of the artist’s work to date, featuring twenty years of artistic output. On the eve of the exhibition’s opening, Enrico David joined Chief Curator Stéphane Aquin for a lively discussion about the artist’s highly original practice.

Story of Harlem Shake :
The Harlem Shake is an Internet meme in the form of a video of people performing a skit to the song Harlem Shake. Being a meme, the video was replicated using the same concept by many people, which eventually led to it becoming viral in early February 2013, with thousands of Harlem Shake videos being made and uploaded to YouTube every day.
The form of the meme was established in a video uploaded on February 2 by five teenagers from Queensland, Australia known on YouTube as The Sunny Coast Skate.
The video started a viral trend of people uploading to YouTube their own Harlem Shake videos. The teenagers' video, in its turn, was a follow-up to a video by a YouTube comedy vlogger named Filthy Frank featuring a part where several costumed people danced to the song Harlem Shake by Baauer.

My stroke of insight | Jill Bolte Taylor
Neuroanatomist Jill Bolte Taylor had an opportunity few brain scientists would wish for: One morning, she realized she was having a massive stroke. As it happened -- as she felt her brain functions slip away one by one, speech, movement, understanding -- she studied and remembered every moment. This is a powerful story about how our brains define us and connect us to the world and to one another.
Presentations on Life Span Development
In this presentation from the 2012 APA/Clark University Workshop for High School Teachers, Debra Park of Rutgers University and West Deptford High School (West Deptford, NJ - retired) discusses the National Standards for High School Psychology Curricula standard area of life span development (3:45). She discusses the MIDUS study (13:00), end of life issues (20:30), and adulthood and aging, such as by addressing maximizing longevity (28:45). Park suggests that many concepts within this area of development are relevant to adolescents and worth devoting time to in the high school psychology curriculum. The Millennial Culture (1:02:49) is also discussed.
Michael Sullivan of Hopkinton High School (Hopkinton, MA) discusses stage theories and provides some quick classroom activities to implement within the development unit (1:07:15).
This video was supported by a grant from the American Psychological Foundation, thanks to generous support from Lee Gurel, PhD.
