Russian politics. ''Duel'' talk show. Zhirinovsky vs Raihelgauz. ''Gorbachev'' (English subs)
FOR SUBTITLES TURN CAPTIONS (CC) ON.
One more episode of ''Duel'' talk show with Vladimir Zhirinovsky participating.
This time he is going against Iosif Raihelgauz, some movie and theater director I've never heard before. The subject of this show is: Michail Gorbachev, and the role he played, mainly in the collapse of the Soviet Union, but also about good and bad things he had done.
For Zhirinovsky, this subject is almost as painful as October Revolution of 1917. So, he is like usual using his style. I gotta say, that he have been on this show for so many times, his experience really counts. One of Raihelgauz's supporters made him angry, talking about things Zhirinovsky tired of hearing of, and when Zhirinovsky responds to him, you can see that his hands were actually shaking! Raihelgauz, on the other hand, seeing that he's losing, at one moment I think he was ready to start crying. But of course he is no match. I think Zhirinovsky even realized it and backed down a little.
The arbitrator was some historian that repeated everything twice for some reason. He reminded me Johny ''Two Times'' from ''Goodfellas'' - ''I'm gonna get the paper get the paper'' lol.
Well... And Soloviev as always in his style.
Oh, and keep your hand on ''Pause'' button. They often talk at the same time, so you might need a moment to read everything.
This show was aired live on 30/05/2013.
Enjoy!
Thanks for watching!

Forgotten Leaders. Episode 4. Semyon Budyonny. Documentary. English Subtitles. StarMediaEN
All Episodes of Forgotten Leaders
The project provisionally titled “Forgotten Leaders” is a series of seven films, each featuring an individual from the leaders of the Soviet state in power during the time period from 1920 to 1953. Each episode is a filmed portrait depicting the story of life, political and public activities of its hero. The heroes of “The Forgotten Leaders” are
individuals ambiguous from the perspective of the Russian and world’s history and odious and often sharply negative in the eyes of public consciousness. Unfortunately, when labeling, we often forget that “each individual
is a tangle of contradictions” and that “history is written by the victors”. Seven men. Seven lives. One era. What was behind their decisions and at what was the price they paid for their deeds?

World War II: Crash Course World History #38
Crash Course World History is now available on DVD! Visit to buy a set for your home or classroom.
In which John Green teaches you about World War II, aka The Great Patriotic War, aka The Big One. So how did this war happen? And what does it mean? We've all learned the facts about World War II many times over, thanks to repeated classroom coverage, the History channel, and your grandfather (or maybe great-grandfather) showing you that Nazi bayonet he used to keep in his sock drawer and telling you a bunch of age-inappropriate stories about his harrowing war experiences. So, why did the Axis powers think forceful expansion was a good idea? (they were hungry). So why did this thing shake out in favor of the Allies? HInt: it has to do with the fact that it was a world war. Germany and Japan made some pretty serious strategic errors, such as invading Russia and attacking the United States, and those errors meant that pretty much the whole world was against them. So, find out how this worldwide alliance came together to stop the Axis expansion. All this, plus Canada finally gets the respectful treatment it deserves. Oh, and a warning: there are a few graphic images in this episode. Sensitive viewers may want to use caution, especially around the 9:15 mark.

SUMMARY
=======
The Battle of Stalingrad (23 August 1942 – 2 February 1943) was the largest confrontation of World War II, in which Germany and its allies fought the Soviet Union for control of the city of Stalingrad (now Volgograd) in Southern Russia.
Marked by fierce close quarters combat and direct assaults on civilians in air raids, it was the largest (nearly 2.2 million personnel) and bloodiest (1.8–2 million killed, wounded or captured) battle in the history of warfare. After their defeat at Stalingrad, the German High Command had to withdraw vast military forces from the Western Front to replace their losses.The German offensive to capture Stalingrad began in August 1942, using the 6th Army and elements of the 4th Panzer Army. The attack was supported by intensive Luftwaffe bombing that reduced much of the city to rubble. The fighting degenerated into house-to-house fighting; both sides poured reinforcements into the city. By mid-November 1942, the Germans had pushed the Soviet defenders back at great cost into narrow zones along the west bank of the Volga River.
On 19 November 1942, the Red Army launched Operation Uranus, a two-pronged attack targeting the weaker Romanian and Hungarian armies protecting the German 6th Army's flanks. The Axis forces on the flanks were overrun and the 6th Army was cut off and surrounded in the Stalingrad area. Adolf Hitler ordered that the army stay in Stalingrad and make no attempt to break out; instead, attempts were made to supply the army by air and to break the encirclement from the outside. Heavy fighting continued for another two months. By the beginning of February 1943, the Axis forces in Stalingrad had exhausted their ammunition and food. The remaining units of the 6th Army surrendered. The battle lasted five months, one week and three days.
Time of DDT - Part 3 of 4
(for English subtitles, make sure that the closed captioning (CC) button at the bottom of the video menu is turned on)
A translation of the documentary Время ДДТ (Time of DDT), which traces the history of Russia's premier rock band, DDT, in the first two decades of its existence. This third part (of four) sees the band through the tumultuous, violent times of 90s Russia. As political unrest and war shake the country, Yuri Shevchuk and his crew 'sober up' and set the band on a serious course towards ambitious, conceptual music built around complete live performance programs.
A highly recommended viewing to anyone not just interested in DDT, but Russian rock music, culture and recent history generally - it provides a very personal, candid perspective on the lives and struggles of some very difficult times in the lives of free-thinking people in the country.
NOTE: This video includes footage of violence from the White House Crisis of 1993 and the First Chechen War of 1995 - some of it filmed by DDT's band leader, Yuri Shevchuk. It is presented purely in a documentary and educational context - but viewer discretion is advised.

SUMMARY
=======
Belgrade ( BEL-grayd; Serbian: Beograd / Београд, meaning white city, Serbian pronunciation: [beǒɡrad] (listen); names in other languages) is the capital and largest city of Serbia. It is located at the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers, where the Pannonian Plain meets the Balkans. The urban area of the City of Belgrade has a population of 1.23 million, while nearly 1.7 million people live within its administrative limits.One of the most important prehistoric cultures of Europe, the Vinča culture, evolved within the Belgrade area in the 6th millennium BC. In antiquity, Thraco-Dacians inhabited the region and after 279 BC Celts conquered the city, naming it Singidūn. It was conquered by the Romans during the reign of Augustus, and awarded city rights in the mid-2nd century. It was settled by the Slavs in the 520s, and changed hands several times between the Byzantine Empire, Frankish Empire, Bulgarian Empire and Kingdom of Hungary before it became the capital of Serbian king Stephen Dragutin (1282–1316). In 1521, Belgrade was conquered by the Ottoman Empire and became the seat of the Sanjak of Smederevo. SUMMARY
=======
Belgrade ( BEL-grayd; Serbian: Beograd / Београд, meaning 'white city', Serbian pronunciation: [beǒɡrad] (listen); names in other languages) is the capital and largest city of Serbia. It is located at the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers and the crossroads of the Pannonian Plain and the Balkan Peninsula. The urban area of the City of Belgrade has a population of 1.23 million, while nearly 1.7 million people live within its administrative limits.One of the most important prehistoric cultures of Europe, the Vinča culture, evolved within the Belgrade area in the 6th millennium BC. In antiquity, Thraco–Dacians inhabited the region and, after 279 BC, Celts settled the city, naming it Singidūn. It was conquered by the Romans under the reign of Augustus and awarded Roman city rights in the mid-2nd century. It was settled by the Slavs in the 520s, and changed hands several times between the Byzantine Empire, the Frankish Empire, the Bulgarian Empire and the Kingdom of Hungary before it became the seat of the Serbian king Stefan Dragutin (ruled 1282–1316). In 1521, Belgrade was conquered by the Ottoman Empire and became the seat of the Sanjak of Smederevo. It frequently passed from Ottoman to Habsburg rule, which saw the destruction of most of the city during the Austro-Ottoman wars. Belgrade was again named the capital of Serbia in 1841. Northern Belgrade remained the southernmost Habsburg post until 1918, when the city was reunited. In a fatally strategic position, the city was battled over in 115 wars and razed 44 times. Belgrade was the capital of Yugoslavia from its creation in 1918 to its dissolution in 2006.
