Whale Watching in Mirissa Sri Lanka
The sea of Mirissa is the place where you can see whales and dolphins while travelling in Sri Lanka. Many sightings have been reported in November to April in the year.
Many pygmy blue whales can be seen at Dondra point in Sri Lanka. You can access it through the Mirissa Harbour or Weligama Harbour. Whale watching tours can be arranged via many in Sri Lanka.
Whale Watching in Mirissa, Sri Lanka // WE SAW A BLUE WHALE!
Whale watching in Mirissa was by far one of the most incredible activities I did while in Sri Lanka.
I've done whale watching in South Africa before but this trip was much better as we saw SO MANY WHALES! From pilot whales to two massive blue whales, biggest mammals on earth, even bigger than our boat. It was a truly exciting whale watching trip and is also super cheap at only $30 per person.

Things to do in Sri Lanka - Whale Watching in Mirissa
Mirissa has some of the best beaches in Sri Lanka. Another must in things to do in Sri Lanka is whale watching in Mirissa which has year around tours. This video is how we watched those enormous blue whales and some friendly dolphins in their natural habitat. Words fall short to describe the gorgeous creatures, so I will let the video do the talking.
We went for Raja Whales for our tour. It is slightly pricey compared to other tour boats, but the good thing is they don’t over crowd the boats, thereby giving you the time of a lifetime!
I have a travel blog and a 10 Days in Sri Lanka Itinerary as well on – froogalfun.com. Refer to it for lots of travel stories and itinerary. And watch this space for detailed travel vlog from each of the locations we visited while in Sri Lanka. This is a Best of Sri Lanka Post which I wanted to initiate the Sri Lanka travel vlog series with.

MIRISSA, SRI LANKA - THE END OF THE SOUTH COAST | VLOG #35
Mirissa is one of the most popular beach towns of Sri Lanka, mostly for activities such as Mirissa beach, whale watching dolphin watching. As usual we went out looking for less touristy spots and actually found a beautiful spot called Secret Beach. We also went to explore the main beach of Mirissa and shine some light on the 'boobs' and 'ass' shape of that. You'll see in the video what we mean with that. ????
We're ending our adventures on the south coast of Sri Lanka and will be moving on to a greener environment, into the mountains! Let us know if you've got any questions and give us some love if you like the video. Thanks guys!

About Me:
Whale watching in Mirissa, Sri Lanka with Raja & The Whales by The Flip Flop Family
No trip to Sri Lanka is complete without going Whale watching in Mirissa!
We teamed up with the very hospitable Raja & The Whales to explore the Indian Ocean in search of Whales!
In this video, you can see exactly what to expect when you book with Raja & The Whales. Their pricing is competitive at 6000Rs for adults and 3000Rs for children 6-12years old. We have friends who have used other companies and Raja & The Whales sounds more professional by far.
Itinerary
Your day starts early at 6.30am to give you the best chance of spotting the beautiful sea creatures. The crew try their very best to find Whales and have a very high success rate, however in the event that they are unable to find Whales, they will offer you another trip or give you 50% of your money back. You are well looked after on the boat and fed fresh fruits, a cooked breakfast and tea and cake. We retuned back home by 12.30pm.
Travelling with Kids
We went whale watching with both our young children aged 3 and 6years old. They enjoyed spotting the Dolphins and Whales but our younger child did start to get restless after 3-4hours on the boat. We advise that you take some games to play and an iPad as a last resort. Grumpy kids on board can definitely hamper your experience! There is a western toilet on board with toilet paper so no worries there.
Sea Sickness
The Indian Ocean can be rough so make sure you take some sea sickness medication. We were offered some by Raja & The Whales but we were already prepared! The team are experienced in helping passengers that start to feel unwell so make sure you alert them if you need some assistance.
Booking
It’s a family run company and you can feel the love during the trip. It is the same price when you book online or in person but they get booked up fast. They are very professional and get back to you very promptly. They also arrange a pick up from your hotel in Mirissa.

Whale watching Mirissa Sri Lanka
Hi travellers,
This video shows my morning whale watching trip in Mirissa.
Despite the early morning start in the dark, when nature is gorgeous there's few grumbles to be had.
I asked the owner of the guest house where I was staying to help me to organise a trip. There are several boats that go out and they all seemed to offer the same experience. Transport to the port, breakfast on board, tea and coffee, life jackets, and gorgeous blue water.
I paid 4,000LKR for this experience, so cheap. My goodness.
