Whitecliff Recreation Ground toilets family room. LLBI
The family room next to the changing rooms at the recreation ground. A 90s refurb has seen two toilets and no cubicals. Intended for younger children and parents. The men's where not in a fit state to be filmed so I filmed these instead.
Floods! :3
The floods of Poole/Bournemouth. It was fun but not fun at the same time.
- the very same.
Whitecliff Rec toilets, Poole LLBI
Nothing special in here, just to embarrass the council on what seems to be the poorest toilet provision in the borough after the 10p toilets. White the 'family room' is clean the men's seem dull and are subjected to floods. No floods today though so a quick film and a cistern view. The 1951 plans reveal this used to be the ladies and where the ladies now are was a store room while the original men's are the family room. Only the floor Is original
These where a victim of the 90s refurbs and the flush is the worse that I have ever seen and only the floor is original. There would have been 3 WCs in here (presumably HLTP) while the old men's would have had 2 WCs and more space for the urinal where there is now a disabled (Mid level)
Poole public toilets tour
A look at some of the facilities maintained by Poole Borough Council in Dorset. Some of these toilets are not in a good state of repair which follows the worrying trend of councils across the United Kingdom.

Fernvale Floods 2011 - Poole Rd
Video provided by Dennis Ward, coordinator of the Fernvale and Surrounding Region Action Group that was formed after the floods to represent the interests of flood affected local residents.
There has been little coverage of the floods in Fernvale on YouTube, possibly because most of the people who had their homes inundated lost their computer equipment.
Many residents of Fernvale were very hard hit by the floods with water coming first from local creeks in one direction and later from the Brisbane River in the opposite direction. Many residents found they were not covered by insurance and some are still unable to live in their homes (@July 2011)
Exposed, the shocking toilets of Poole Town Centre
Poole Council want to attract people to the historic town of Poole in Dorset but it's town centre toilets are not much to look at. Today I filmed 3 shockers, one on Dear Hay Lane which although only costs 10p not one of the 5 where accessible 'due to vandalism' so next I head to Old Orchard and find the same problem.
These toilets are from 2008 and replaced a 1960s (HLC) at Dear Hay Lane which had 3 WCs in the men's and a urinal for up to 5 and 4 WCs in the ladies and a disabled which where free and in a poor state of repairer and I noticed a needle in one which was a sign that hard drugs had arrived to Poole.
Old Orchard replaced a 1972 multi story car park toilet with 3 WCs in men's and urinal for 5 and 5 WCs in ladies and a disabled which, just before being demolished I saw that the concealed toilets where low levels.
The third toilet at Poole bridge is from the 1980s and is free but declining rapidly. I am not sure if it is HLC or LLC but the toilet I was going to film was in use and my battery on my phone was low. The walls are suffering from damp after the cream tiles where removed and something is growing on the walls
Poole Council should be embarrassed by this considering most of their toilets are not that bad!
Kino Road toilets, Frinton-on-sea, Essex. Concealed fixtures
A bit of a let down these where right by the bus stop. The promonade was opened in 1930 which gives us the age and a make overwould have taken place in the 70s or 80s. Hard to tell if high level concealed or low level.

Ferry Way toilets, Sandbanks, Poole, Dorset
A set of toilets built in the 1960s and refurbished in the 90s, similar looking to some other Poole toilets close to the ferry crossing towards Studland. Nothing to special about these but better than some in Poole. I was trying to work out if they where HLC or LLC and walked round the back for clues but no over flows could be seen.

Hamworthy Park Toilets LLTPC
So I ended up in Hamworthy in Poole searching for a set of toilets I have never seen before but where on my A-Z map. Dauntless486 had seen them on Google maps and thought they might be concealed high levels. In fact it was low level boxed in of the 80s-90s refurbs but was once high level. The toile was fealthy so I stopped filming. These toilets where the ones I came across first. Came across them back in 2000 and they was a let down then. The arrangement seems to be a twisted pipe low level. The flush was weaker than thought and the seat broke. The cubical is large how ever and I am guessing this is a 70s-80s refurb but at a differnt time to others. Hamworthy also has an 80s set of toilets along the main road an my A-Z from 1995 shows toilets where also at Turlin Moor Rec but they are most likley to be gone now.
Flood West Quay Road Poole on Valentines Day
Taken around 9pm. This is as far as the water went so the houses here were not flooded I believe. Two hours later the water had receded.
Charborough Road Toilets, Broadstone, Poole Dorset HL Shires Lynx & Adament Slab Urinal
I didn't knw these even existed but Dauntless486 pointed them out to me after looking up the Poole toilet locations on Google Maps. These are very close to the Broadstone Rec toilets and are more secluded but open for use. he building looks interwar, possibly as far back as 1928 if not at least a few years after and it has a real old park feel. The urinal is a Slab and called the Adament, the only Adament I have seen that is a full on slab. The toiletis a Twyfords pan and a high level Shires Lynx cistern from the 60s or 70s. A very powerfull flush. We have a sneak peek at the ladies tat I shall film at a later date and we see a White Dudley straight pipe and a twisted pipe Shires. I also went back to Broadstone Rec to see i thetoilets where open (which the council states close early in the afternoon due to vandalism) and they where closed. Worth the find I say and I am pleased that Parkston Park/ Ashley Cross are no longer the only Exposed high levels left in the borough of Poole. What I found today was a bit like going back ten years, finding a high level in a park that is still open for use!
Southend Seafront Toilets high level stainless steel
Found these along the seafront, never been inside before, or not that I remember anyway. Inside we have exsessive use of the blue lights (so drug users can't see their vains) and some stainless steel fixtures from the urinals, pans and cisterns which are high level. hese must be a recent replacement of either Dauntless or Shires is my guess. Worth the find and im suprised I never seen them before back in my early days of exploring.
Totton public toilets LLC/ Sensor
A modern building in Totton town centre. Much better than the usual modern toilet designs such as the individual doors for each WC, these toilets are by New Forest District Council & would have replaced a dull building from the 70s. Nice and bright and spacious with a sensor flush and vandal proof
Lewes Cemetery toilets, East Sussex HL Shires Rubberwell (Men) LL DM (Ladies)
It has been a while since I found a good cemetery so am happy with what I found here. In the men's there is a small urinal fed by a Cast Iron mini urinal cistern and the toilet has a HL Shires Rubberwell.
In the ladies there is only a LL DM which makes up for the ladies at Headstone Cemetery in Oxford being better than the men's.
Rating 10/10 (Men) 5/10 (Ladies)
