This is one of the largest tea markets in the world: Jinshi Tea Market in Kunming, Yunnan, China
This massive tea market is focused on puerh and contains hundreds of tea shops selling both pressed tea, loose tea, and teaware.
If you are in Kunming this place is worth checking out. You can take a taxi to Jinshi Chaye Shichang / 金实茶叶市场. It is situated at the north end of Kunming where Beijing Road meets the 2nd Ring Road. It is definitely worth the visit:

KUNMING SHOPPING Look at this HUGE Shopping Centre.
A look at this enormous trade centre (something like 15,000 shops) selling just about everything. All the local shops buy from here, so you can get the same as in town at much lower prices. Be prepared to bargain and check different stores to get best price. Each level & part of is divided into types, so you get several (streets) of shoes, then handbags, then toys, then souvenirs, then baby clothes, then hardware, then bedding, then tea sets etc. etc. Word of warning - the toilets are all pretty smelly & dirty & all squat type. Plenty of food traders outside. Kunming: the capital of Yunnan province, China. A place that people love for its climate. Kunming is called The Spring City, and it's a popular place to travel all year. Kunming is a starting point for travel to Lijiang and Dali and also Vietnam, so it's a major transportation hub for a lot of travellers.

Online companies changing tea trends
In China, it seems every industry is moving online, even the most traditional. And that also includes the tea market. Selling tea online is still a small, budding business whose sales surpassed 10 billion yuan in 2014 -- that's only 3 percent of the entire market. But nonetheless it's prompting changes in the way this traditional trade runs. CCTV's Jiao Yang goes to Hangzhou, to talk to a leading online tea retailer about the differences.

Tea expert explains expensive tea prices: How much does a tea picker earn?
Tea expert Gabriele explains how tea leaves are picked, how much the pickers earn, and how that affects the final price of the tea.
The economics behind agricultural products, like tea, can be complicated; here, the first step of the tea-making process is examined in depth: how and when tea leaves are picked, how the skill and experience of the pickers factors into their wages, and how different kinds of tea and locations affect both of these. The focus is on Chinese tea production, and on hand-picking, which is still the most common in China, but these insights can apply to tea production everywhere.
