Kelantan is a state located on the east coast of peninsular Malaysia. We visited Kelantan with our friends Amry and Aida to celebrate Hari Raya Haji or Eid el Adha with their family. Over the long weekend we also got the time to see a bit more of Kelantan.
In this video we travel up to the Thai border at Rantau Panjang and try mee celup a noodle dish which contains both Kelantanese and Thai influences. We also try lychee kang which is a dessert made up of a sweet syrup, ice, tinned lychees, pineapple, basil seeds and palm seeds. It is so refreshing in the heat!
We then drive from Rantau Panjang to the capital of Kelantan- Kota Bahru. A lot of shops and restaurants are closed for the long weekend but we stumble across a pasar malam or a night market and try sotong bakar (burnt squid)- something we've seen a lot of in Asia but have never sampled! Dried squid is cooked over charcoal, run through a press and then cooked again over charcoal. The resulting snack is paper thin and perforated from the rollers to make for easy tearing. The flavour is very strong and the texture is dry and tough- but in a pleasant way!
It's then time to head to the seaside- Pantai Cahaya Bulan where a lot of locals are out and about enjoying a seafood feast. We nab a table at a restaurant and order a platter of fried fish, prawns and fish balls- all coated in a thick, crunchy wheat batter.
What a day! We loved seeing more of Kelantan. It's worlds apart from Kuala Lumpur where we've been spending most of our time. It's laid back, has great food and friendly people. We can't wait to return one day.
Thanks so much to our mates Aida and Amry for showing us around Kelantan. We had a blast!

20 Things to do in Yogyakarta & Central Java Travel Guide (Solo, Semarang) for Foodies in Indonesia Travel Food Lovers Video Transcript:
Hey guys! We're in Indonesia for a week. Yeah, so this is our second time back in Indonesia and this week we're going to be exploring Yogyakarta and Central Java and this video is going to show you some of the top attractions in the region. Can't wait to show you around. Let's go!
For our very first stop in Central Java, we headed to the biggest Buddhist monument in the world and the most popular attraction in the region: Borobudur.
So we are ready for another adventure. Tell us! Yeah, we're heading up to Mount Merapi and there is basically two different ways you can do it. You can hike up but we're going with a jeep. Yeah, it'll be fun. Hop on in.
After a few days in Jogja, we hopped on a train and headed towards Solo, also known as Surakarta. The ride was a little over an hour, and not only was it an inexpensive way to travel, but it was also incredibly scenic. We zoomed past villages and rice fields, and before we knew it, we had arrived.
So right now we're inside Pasar Triwindu which is an antiques market here in Solo and we are seeing some real gems.
So I went shopping for my Batik and I found one I really like. It cost about 30 US dollars and I can't wait to start wearing it. I think the first time I'll try it on is for dinner soon.
So we're starting off with coconut milk pancakes which are called Serabi.
Our next stop in Solo was the Mangkunegaran Palace, which dates back to 1757. Part of the royal family still lives here, so you can’t wander around.
Another way to experience Solo is by doing a tour on a pedibike, also known as a becak.
This trip was all about going in search of food, culture and a little bit of adventure. Over the course of the week we visited ancient temples, browsed through antique markets, ate our fair share of street food, and tackled a rather infamous volcano. In this video we are going to show you 20 things to do in Yogyakarta and Central Java, so let’s get started.
And that’s a wrap for our whirlwind trip to Indonesia. We hope you enjoyed getting a closer look at what Yogyakarta and Central Java have to offer. As always, if you have any other suggestions of things to do and places to visit, feel free to let us know in the comments below. Happy travels!
This is part of our Travel in Indonesia video series showcasing Indonesian food, Indonesian culture and Indonesian cuisine.

MALAYSIA: East Coast Revisited, 2010 3/3
This is the last episode depicting our nostalgic journey to the East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia from Kuala Lumpur. In part 3/3, we saw the collapsed roof of a recently-constructed sports stadium, a display of life-size kampung houses built at a place near Setiu, the picturesque jetty of Kuala Besut, sights of Kota Bharu and glimpses of Rantau Panjang, Kelantan's border town with Thailand.
QUIET JOURNEY FROM KL- GERIK PERAK
Night driving is a great experience. This time no rush hour....and we took our sweet time driving from KL to our holiday destination in Gerik, Perak. No traffic congestions encountered and it was so easy to find parking lot at any Highway's Layby or R&R. While driving in remote areas you can roll-down your window screen...switch-off your car air-con and enjoy free fresh/cool air. You don't really feel exhausted after 5 hours driving.
Best Things to do in Langkawi - Malaysia
Langkawi, officially known as Langkawi, the Jewel of Kedah, is a district and an archipelago of 99 islands in the Andaman Sea some 30 km off the mainland coast of northwestern Malaysia. The islands are a part of the state of Kedah, which is adjacent to the Thai border.
1. Durian Perangin Waterfall:
This lovely waterfall has been named after the Durian trees that bear spiny oval tropical fruits and can be found in abundance around this waterfall area. Durian Perangin Waterfall is located at the north eastern side of Langkawi and north of Kilim Village. The entrance is from a car park and through small shops and stalls.
2. Air Hangat Village:
Air Hangat (also spelled as Ayer Hangat) Village is a modern cultural complex located 14km north of Kuah Town. The center of the attraction here is the three-tiered hot water spring wells.
3.Pantai Kok:
The beach along Pantai Kok is dominated by mostly high-end upscale resorts like the Sheraton and Tanjung Sanctuary. The beach is beautiful with clean sands and clear waters but it’s the tourist attractions, as well as the relative peace and quiet, that makes this place so popular.
4.Tanjung Rhu:
Located just beyond Pantai Pasir Hitam, Tanjung Rhu has one of Langkawi’s best shorelines. The waters are as clear as crystal, the sand is powder-fine and driving towards this beach you’ll have to pass a dense corridor of jungle. The area is absolutely secluded and the atmosphere is silent and peaceful. Bordered by intermittent limestone crags, Tanjung Rhu is gorgeously breathtaking and even though it may be as hot as Hades in some of the other areas of Langkawi, here the air is crisp, clean and cool.
5. Oriental Village :
Oriental Village is best known as the home of the Langkawi Cable Car and Sky Bridge. It is a themed open-air complex with a huge lake in the centre and an art gallery, animal exhibits, clothes, souvenir and handicraft stores spread out around it plus a few local and international restaurants.

DIVE SITE BLUE LAGOON, PORT DICKSON, NEGERI SEMBILAN..
***MDG SCUBA***
