New Play Space Unites Milwaukee Neighborhood
In Milwaukee, Wisconsin the community surrounding Foundation Park sought to celebrate the rich Hmong culture of its neighbors through a park improvement project funded in part by the Meet Me at the Park Play Spaces Grant Program. For many years, the pocket-park, a victim of arson, had stood with only a couple of swings for local children to enjoy. Now the park is filled with new equipment and delighted kids who are greeted upon entry with vibrant playground surfacing and “peace poles” created by members of the community. The peace poles are embedded with handmade pottery as well as pieces of paper containing their hopes and dreams for their neighborhood’s future. The park improvements have opened up access to play and opportunities for residents to come together as friends and neighbors.
The park is managed by the City of Milwaukee and part of the MKE Plays Initiative. Thank you to the City and the Hmong American Friendship Association for their help in putting this video together.
As part of The Walt Disney Company’s commitment to healthy living, Meet Me at the Park has brought the fun of parks and recreation to children and families across the United States since 2014. This program is part of NRPA and Disney’s commitment to provide 1 million kids and families with greater access to play — ensuring everyone has a safe place to play, learn and live a healthier lifestyle.

Milwaukee is a city in the U.S. state of Wisconsin on Lake Michigan's western shore. It's known for its breweries, many of which offer tours chronicling its role in the beer industry. Overlooking the Menomonee River, the Harley-Davidson Museum displays classic motorcycles, including one of Elvis Presley’s. Nearby is the Milwaukee Public Museum, with its large-scale European Village and a recreation of old Milwaukee.

Getting High in Wisconsin - Part IV
Originally known as the First Wisconsin Center, the US Bank Center in Milwaukee is Wisconsin's tallest building, at 601 feet and 42 stories.
During a citywide event called Doors Open Milwaukee on September 24, 2011, the US Bank Center allowed visitors to view the landscape from the building's observation deck, which has only rarely been opened to the public since the building was constructed in the early 1970s.
Landmarks visible from the observation deck (and in this video) include the Milwaukee City Hall (which was Wisconsin's tallest building until 1973), Miller Park, the Mitchell Park Domes, Summerfest grounds, the Allen-Bradley clock tower (featuring the world's largest 4-faced clock), McKinley Marina, Old St. Mary's Church, Basilica of St. Josaphat, and St. Stanislaus Church.
Many other buildings can be seen in the video; feel free to identify them in the comments section, below.

Welcome to Silver Spring House
In September 1835, Gordon S. Hubbard (of Hubbard Park) purchased 152 acres, including the land where The Silver Spring House is now located, for $159.35 from the United States Government. In 1845, Valentine Blatz, a brewery owner, and Charles Kern bought the land and subdivided it. The land that The Silver Spring House now occupies was purchased by Charles Krocker; who in 1856 built a log cabin tavern, The Krocker House. On March 3,1902, a Krocker heir sold his share of five acres and a fire damaged Krocker House to John Kleist. Two years later, north of The Krocker House, Kleist built and named his tavern The Silver Spring House, which is presently our back dining room on the north east end of the building. Our main dining room and bar, formerly a dance hall, was located behind the original tavern. In 1915, it was rolled on logs to the present location. As a second interest, Kleist refurbished the remains of the Krocker House and operated a cigar factory. The main brand was known as “The Heavyweight”. The room that is now referred to as “The Garten” was added in the early 1980’s along with our outdoor seating areas.
In 1921, The Silver Spring House was sold to Herman Reese and once again changed hands in 1925 when it was purchased by William Smith, who was commonly known as “Sticks” because of his wooden leg. Smith attempted operating “taxi dances” (10 cents a dance), an activity unique to its era, but it proved to be unsuccessful. In 1935, Al Hahm purchased the business renaming it The Park Tavern and until World War II served food and libations. He featured a Friday Night Fish Fry for 15 cents and a Chicken Fry for 35 cents. For the next 30 years after the war, Hahm maintained it as a corner tavern. In 1976, Doug Siewert purchased the business returning to the name The Silver Spring House. In 1985, The Silver Spring House received Milwaukee County Landmark Status. This status saved this historical building from being torn down due to the widening of Green Bay Avenue. Doug owned and operated The Silver Spring House for 27 years. He was a well loved and respected friend and philanthropist. He is sincerely missed by all who knew and loved him.
In April of 2003, per Doug’s wishes, The Silver Spring House was purchased by his three longtime managers. The current owners have accumulated over 70 years of experience at the Spring House and look forward to meeting and serving you.

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio while you are sleeping! SUMMARY
=======
A timeline of United States inventions (1890–1945) encompasses the ingenuity and innovative advancements of the United States within a historical context, dating from the Progressive Era to the end of World War II, which have been achieved by inventors who are either native-born or naturalized citizens of the United States. Copyright protection secures a person's right to his or her first-to-invent claim of the original invention in question, highlighted in Article I, Section 8, Clause 8 of the United States Constitution which gives the following enumerated power to the United States Congress:
In 1641, the first patent in North America was issued to Samuel Winslow by the General Court of Massachusetts for a new method of making salt. On April 10, 1790, President George Washington signed the Patent Act of 1790 (1 Stat. 109) into law which proclaimed that patents were to be authorized for any useful art, manufacture, engine, machine, or device, or any improvement therein not before known or used. On July 31, 1790, Samuel Hopkins of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, became the first person in the United States to file and to be granted a patent under the new U.S. patent statute. The Patent Act of 1836 (Ch. 357, 5 Stat. 117) further clarified United States patent law to the extent of establishing a patent office where patent applications are filed, processed, and granted, contingent upon the language and scope of the claimant's invention, for a patent term of 14 years with an extension of up to an additional 7 years. From 1836 to 2011, the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has granted a total of 7,861,317 patents relating to several well-known inventions appearing throughout the timeline below. Some examples of patented inventions between the years 1890 and 1945 include John Froelich's tractor (1892), Ransom Eli Olds' assembly line (1901), Willis Carrier's air-conditioning (1902), the Wright Brothers' airplane (1903), and Robert H. Goddard's liquid-fuel rocket (1926).
