Good health!
I continue the story about a trip to the Arctic on the Kola Peninsula.
This part will be historical and patriotic.
We drove out of Murmansk luxury appartements and moved to the memorial
The defenders of the Soviet Arctic during the Great Patriotic War,
in common folk called Monument Alesha.
The weather was gloomy and cloudy as usual.
Pleased with how the new road was built.
Alyoshe monument is very impressed.
The place is very atmospheric, the monument impresses with its size, strict and sad silence.
The view of the city is fantastic.
Frost sneaks at the thought of what happened here during the War.
Around there are anti-aircraft guns, which kept the defense.
Sneaks ...
They stood silent ...
They laid flowers ...
Everyone who goes to the north, I advise you to definitely go there, stand still for a while ...
After we rushed to the fishing, stock up with the harsh northern tackles :)
Yeah, there was something to see))
It is possible to beat such baits of the person, and especially not straining))
Then they jumped into the boutiques, zatarilsya grub and owed ????
Purchased, rushed on.
On the way, we stopped in places of battles, to honor the memory.
Bound to the bones of the Memorial Valley of Glory
Previously, this place was called Death Valley, since bloody battles took place here, and since 1965, in memory of the heroic feats of the Red Army and Soviet sailors, it was renamed the Valley of Glory. Since 1987, in the territory of the memorial, search engines have buried the remains of fallen defenders of the Polar region found.
Especially hooked endless list of names and notes of those who went to certain death ...
Next was the post of frontier control, and finally the congress from asphalt in Titovka,
where the most beautiful and interesting things start, but this is in the next series :)

Murmansk - 2016
On our way to Nordkapp, in September, 2016, we spent couple of days in Murmansk, the largest city in the world located above the Arctic Circle. The time was short, but we managed to see some of the most interesting places in town. We went to the sea port, one of the largest ice-free ports in Russia, and saw the Lenin nuclear icebreaker. Walking through a nice park, we found our way to the Defenders of the Soviet Arctic during the Great Patriotic War monument, also known as Alyosha - 35.5 metres tall statue of a soldier in a greatcoat with a rifle slung over his shoulder. From this spot we could see the whole city and the port, the view was great!...
The official year of foundation of the town is 1916. It was named Romanov-on-Murman in honor of the Romanov dynasty and after the Pomor people’s name for the Barents Sea (Murman). Romanov-on-Murman was the last town founded in the Russian Empire. In 1917, after the February Revolution, the city received its current name - Murmansk.
BEST MURMANSK Tour (MYPMAHCK TYP) (Budget Travel Russia) {Murmansk World's Largest Arctic City}
Budget Travel Russia #6
This best Murmansk tour by foot (MYPMAHCK TYP) gives a different perspective of Murmansk world's largest Arctic city.
As a port, Murmansk serves Russian commercial and naval interests for the country's Far North. This holds true today as it did when the nation was the Soviet Union, or USSR, thirty years ago before the end of the Cold War.
While Murmansk is suffering economically, the city possesses many monuments to its local and Soviet war history, including WWII, or the Great Patriotic War. These reminders are scattered throughout the area, including the 35-meter statue of Alyosha Defenders of the Arctic, during the Second World War.
Creating his own itinerary, Matt strolls from the railyards to the top of Murmansk for a comprehensive outlook of history, geography, economics and people watching on a brilliant Arctic summer's afternoon.
Follow along on this MYPMAHCK TYP and you should agree why this is the BEST Murmansk Tour Video.

Photographer Amos Chapple took a night-mode enabled smartphone camera to document life in Russia’s north through the polar night. 10 Locals walk down the snow-covered streets as frozen are gathers outside a shop in the Russian city of MurmanskCredit: Amos Chapple/RFE/RL From December 2 until January 11, the sun does not rise above the horizon in Murmansk. The city lies in the Russian Arctic circle. Amos captures a collection of stirring images of life in the area. About 100 kilometers to the east of Murmansk, boats lie frozen in the moonlight late at night. Murmansk was founded as Romanov-on-Murman in 1916, when Tsar Nicholas II sought an ice-free port that would allow war supplies to be shipped in from Russia’s allies. Within months of the city’s founding, revolution swept the tsar from power and the city was renamed Murmansk. In World War II, Murmansk again became vital for the Soviet Union and its Western allies. It was a main route for delivering materiel and aid for the Red Army. In 1941, Murmansk’s defenders held off attacks from German forces, but the city was largely wiped out by Nazi air raids. 10 A local worker tends to his stall as darkness sweeps over the arctic cityCredit: Amos Chapple/RFE/RL 10 The haunting image shows snow falling as locals make their way through a forest pathCredit: Amos Chapple/RFE/RL 10 Photographer Amos Chapple used just a smart phone to capture the incredible images over the cityCredit: Amos Chapple/RFE/RL 10 A dog sits on a snow-topped mound next to frozen water in MumanskCredit: Amos Chapple/RFE/RL 10 Snow falls on the Alyosha Monument in memory of soviet soldiers who defended the city during the Great Patriotic WarCredit: Amos Chapple/RFE/RL 10 Cars are completely covered in heavy snow during the bitter winter in northern RussiaCredit: Amos Chapple/RFE/RL 10 A Soviet shipwreck lies covered in snowCredit: Amos Chapple/RFE/RL 10 Locals at a stall set up in one of the city's streets selling boots, scarves and hatsCredit: Amos Chapple/RFE/RL 10 A memorial tower to sailors and soldier who died during peacetime is one of the city's landmarksCredit: Amos Chapple/RFE/RL
