American University of Sharjah (AUS) Professor among first to be granted Gold VISAs in UAE
American University of Sharjah (AUS) professor, Dr. Ghaleb A. Husseini, was recently granted a long-term visa by the UAE government. This first batch of 10-year visas was granted to the winners and finalists of the Mohammed bin Rashid Medal for Scientific Distinction, a prestigious national accolade, launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai. The award honors accomplished scientists and researchers who have excelled in their respective disciplines in the UAE and abroad.
The long-term resident visa for scientists and researchers aims to enhance the UAE’s position as a hub for scientific research and attain its goal of becoming a global hub for scientific advancement. Announced in November 2018, the long-term residence permits will be granted to investors and specialists in medical, scientific, research and technical fields, as well as scientists and innovators.

API offers 3 programs through AUS and all include a transcript from the U.S. accredited institution upon completion. Our intensive Arabic Language summer program is a fantastic option for students who want more Arabic language instruction. All elementary and beginning-level Arabic students are encouraged to apply for this 6-credit course aimed at developing your language skills through classroom instruction and practice sessions with native speakers.

American University of Sharjah (AUS) was founded in 1997 by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, UAE Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. Consciously based upon American institutions of higher education, AUS is thoroughly grounded in Arab culture and is part of a larger process of the revitalization of intellectual life in the Middle East. AUS has four academic divisions: the College of Architecture, Art and Design; College of Arts and Sciences; College of Engineering; and the School of Business and Management. The bachelor of science degree program in computer science offered by the College of Engineering is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET. The Bachelor of Architecture program of the College of Architecture, Art and Design is accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB) of the United States. The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) as well as the Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) degrees offered by the School of Business Administration are accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).

Welcome to your home away from home!
On-campus housing is the most convenient place for students to live while studying at any university. At AUS, this is no exception-over 1800 students live on campus and enjoy being close to the academic buildings, library, food court and Sports Complex.
Our AUS residential halls consist of seven men's and five women's dormitory buildings, supervised by staff on a 24/7 basis.
The living environment is very rich in its multicultural atmosphere and has a balanced mix of social and academic activities. The residential halls give students a place to live, relax, exercise and study in comfort.

AUS Events | Global Day 2017 - Day 2
Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member, Ruler of Sharjah and President of American University of Sharjah (AUS), the university held its annual Global Day on Thursday and Friday, March 23-24, 2017. One of the most anticipated events at AUS, Global Day was inaugurated on Thursday by His Excellency Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Thani, member of the Sharjah Executive Council and Chairman of the Sharjah Department of Statistics and Community Development. The opening was attended by Dr. Björn Kjerfve, AUS Chancellor along with other senior university officials.
Each year, Global Day showcases the cultural heritage of the many nationalities represented at AUS by turning the university campus into a festival of culture and color. Set up across the AUS Main Plaza were ethnic stalls and pavilions depicting cultural heritage of 35 countries, including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Armenia, Pakistan, Lebanon, Bangladesh, Palestine, Libya, India, Sudan and Egypt, among others, giving visitors a taste of the truly multicultural nature of the AUS campus. Visitors were also able to sample a wide variety of traditional food in the outdoor food court.
