SUBSCRIBE: - Let's go visit Amsterdam's famous The Red Light District – a warren of medieval alleyways making up the inner-city area locally known as De Wallen – is just southeast of Centraal Station, on and around the parallel neon-lit canals Oudezijds Voorburgwal and Oudezijds Achterburgwal.
According to Lonely Planet: Amsterdam's infamous Red Light District is a carnival of vice, with skimpily-clad prostitutes in brothel windows, raucous bars, haze-filled 'coffee shops', strip shows and mind-boggling museums. It's not for everyone.
Amsterdam is the Netherlands’ capital, known for its artistic heritage, elaborate canal system and narrow houses with gabled facades, legacies of the city’s 17th-century Golden Age. Its Museum District houses the Van Gogh Museum, works by Rembrandt and Vermeer at the Rijksmuseum, and modern art at the Stedelijk. Cycling is key to the city’s character, and there are numerous bike paths.

Amsterdam Secrets of the Wallen / Red Light District : Episode 4 - Heart and Art of the District. We look at the heart of the area, uncover secret shops and places, and take a dive into prostitution, local living, street art and the culture of the RLD.
Advise PG Rating : Parent Guardian choice when viewing with children, although there is no obvious sexual content there is references to the industry. Do not watch if you don't like the subject matter.
I take care not to film any of the working ladies and clients, especially ensuring no faces are shown. This video is not to sensationalise the place and industry, but to take a look at it with an open mind and understand its place in history and culture. 1) #Red #light #district
De Wallen, also known as Walletjes or Rosse Buurt, is a designated area for legalised prostitution and is #Amsterdam's largest and most well known red-light district. This neighbourhood has become a famous attraction for tourists. It consists of a network of roads and alleys containing several hundred small, one-room apartments rented by sex workers who offer their services from behind a window or glass door, typically illuminated with red lights.
2) The #High #Times #Cannabis #Cup is the world’s foremost cannabis festival. Founded in 1988 by Steven Hager, the High Times Cannabis Cup is held each November in Amsterdam. The event allows judges from around the world to sample and vote for their favorite marijuana varieties. These judges-at-large decide the Cannabis Cup (overall winner in the cannabis variety competition), best new product, best booth, best glass, best hash and best Nederhash. A team of VIP judges decides which seed company has grown the best indica, sativa and hybrid strain and which company has produced the best Neder Hash and best imported hash. The High Times Cannabis Cup also includes live music, educational seminars and an expo for marijuana-related products from cannabis-oriented businesses.
3) Amsterdam has more than 100 kilometres (60 miles) of #canals, most of which are navigable by boat. The three main canals are Prinsengracht, Herengracht, and Keizersgracht. In the Middle Ages, Amsterdam was surrounded by a moat, called the Singel, which now forms the innermost ring in the city, and makes the city centre a horseshoe shape. The city is also served by a seaport. It has been compared with Venice, due to its division into about 90 islands, which are linked by more than 1,200 bridges.
4)The #Sexmuseum or the Venus temple (Dutch: Venustempel) is a sex museum located in Amsterdam, #Netherlands. The #museum opened in 1985. It had 675,000 visitors in 2015, making it one of the most visited museums in the Netherlands.

This was a trip around the red light district of Amsterdam. The girls and ladies of the night were quite explicit and were showing their wares in the windows. It was a bit seedy but the area felt safe.
