About Positano:
Positano is a beautiful cliffside village on the Amalfi Coast in southern Italy. The village is hemmed in by mountains and remains physically unspoilt.
We arrived on a very crowded local SITA bus from Sorrento and walked down into the village, enjoying spectacular views as we descended. You can also arrive by road from Salerno or by ferry from Naples. If you’re driving, be aware that the coastal road can get very busy and parking can be a problem.
The majolica-tiled dome of the Church of Santa Maria Assunta can be seen from every corner of the village. This pretty church is often depicted on local ceramic wares and it’s also a popular subject in paintings. And, with its lovely setting right in the centre of Positano, this Church is a favourite destination for weddings on the Amalfi Coast. From the small piazza in front of the church it’s just a short walk down to the popular seafront.
Positano has lots of little stairways connecting steep, narrow streets lined with wisteria-draped hotels, smart boutiques and cafés.
The steep streets mean that getting around on foot can be tiring, especially if it’s hot.
We visited in April, when it’s cooler - and avoided high summer, when Positano is overcrowded with visitors.
The village attracts a lot of tour groups and prices can be higher here than elsewhere on the coast.
This area is famous for its ceramics.
The local earth consists of clay and limestone and is rich in volcanic content, making it ideal for ceramic production.
Here you’ll find lots of shops selling ceramic wares with designs inspired by the colours of the Amalfi Coast: the area is also famous for its lemons and vibrant yellows are prominent.
When you’ve finished with the shops, why not take a look at
the “Grotta Fornillo”, a roadside cave on the edge of Positano.
This miniature village is “Il Presepe di Positano”, or “the Nativity of Positano”.
At the bottom of the village is a popular pebble beach, the Spiaggia Grande.
At 300 meters long, the beach is one of the longest on the Amalfi Coast.
If you fancy exploring further afield, you can catch a small “Sea Taxi boat from here to one of the other nearby bays.
From this this beach you can some of the watch towers that have guarded the stunning Amalfi coast against raiders for hundreds of years.
The raiders may have gone, but Positano has a special beauty that will most likely make you want to come back.

20 Things to do in Rome, Italy Travel Guide Video Transcript: (ROMA)
Rome, the Eternal City. After several trips to Italy, we finally managed to visit our biggest oversight: the capital! From wandering through Roman ruins to devouring pizza, and climbing up lookout points to feasting on gelato, in this travel guide, we’re going to share with you 20 things to do in Rome, Italy:
We reached Roscioli which was the best pizza in Rome. Pizzas are served by the weight and we sampled 7 different pizza slices.
We stopped at Largo di Torre Argentina an archaeological site home to four different temples containing parts of the portico of Pompey.
It was a short walk to the Pantheon, a former Roman temple turned church, which dates back to the year 125 AD. The Pantheon boasted the world’s largest cupola up until the 15th century, and it is still the largest unreinforced concrete dome in existence to this day making it one of the greatest architectural achievements by the ancient Romans.
If you want to find the best gelato, look for colours that are muted with small batches.
One of the many things to do in Rome, was to visit the Trevi Fountain. This is the largest Baroque fountain in the city.
Rome’s most famed attraction is the Colosseum and its surrounding ruins. We started our visit on Palatine Hill, the most central of Rome's seven hills. What visitors see today are the ruins of the Palace of Domitian, a 1st-century complex, which served as the main imperial palace for 300 years. We continued to the Roman Forum. This square was the centre of ancient Roman life, with government buildings, temples, and markets. We reached the Colosseum, which was the largest amphitheatre ever built and could hold an estimated 50,000 and 80,000 spectators.
Walking through the Vatican Museum was more overwhelming than enjoyable. We visited Vatican City to climb St. Peter’s Basilica for views of Rome.
Castel Sant’Angelo was commissioned by the Roman Emperor Hadrian as a mausoleum for himself and his family.
Villa Borghese is the 3rd largest public park in Rome with gardens, villas, and ponds with views of the city overlooking Piazza del PO-polo, the people’s square.
That concludes our tour of Rome showcasing the many things to do in Rome on your own trip.

Mount Vesuvius and Herculaneum Day Trip in Naples, Italy Travel Guide Video Transcript:
The journey from Pompeii to Herculaneum is a scenic one with Mount Vesuvius to one side and the Bay of Naples to the other. It only took us 20 minutes to get there by train, so if you’re looking for a day trip, it doesn’t get much easier than this one. Just maybe don’t get off in the outskirts of town like we did, but more on that later.
Vesuvio's Express is a shuttle service that runs to the top of the volcano, so if you’re expecting a guided tour filled with lots of interesting facts, this isn’t it.
That being said, we were perfectly happy to tour the site on our own, and we couldn’t beat the price at 20 Euros per person.
The only problem we encountered was that the roads were completely iced over the further we went up the mountain, and at one point the bus just had to give up and let all the passengers off to go the rest of the way on foot.
Things got a little easier once we swapped icy paved roads for a dirt trail, though we also had snow to contend with, but we eventually reached the top. I would say one of the coolest things about hiking up to Mount Vesuvius was being able to see that it’s a volcano within a volcano, and while there was no bubbling lava visible to the eye, we could see steam rising from several vents.
Our next stop after lunch were the ruins of Herculaneum, an ancient Roman town that was destroyed by Mount Vesuvius. While Pompeii was covered in ash, Herculaneum was hit by the pyroclastic flow that followed the explosion of 79 AD, which also led to its preservation.
What at first glance appears to be a moat, is Herculaneum’s ancient shoreline. Here we were met with the aftermath of the explosion: a row of old boat houses, each of them filled with the skeleton remains of those who did not escape during the first day of the eruption.
This is part of our Travel in Italy video series showcasing Italian food, Italian culture and Italian cuisine.

#Rome, the former Caput Mundi, or Capital of the World, sits beneath Palatine Hill, where the ruins of its original incarnation are open for exploration.
No #vacation is complete without stopping by the remains of the Temple of Saturn and Arch of Septimus, both located in the Roman Forum. Stop by the Colosseum, a relic of Roman bloodsports and perhaps the most recognizable element of the city.
Toss a coin into the Trevi Fountain to ensure you’ll return to Rome one day; don’t toss in two coins unless you’re ready to fall in love with a Roman.
Continue your Rome #sightseeing in St. Peter’s Square, home of St. Peter’s Basilica. The world’s largest church, designed by Michelangelo, is both a remarkable structure and a tribute to faith. After this, it’s just a few steps to restaurants filled with Italian food. Forget coming back to Rome – you’ll never want to leave.
For now, we hope you enjoy watching this #travel #guide as much as we enjoyed making it.

Rome - City Video Guide
Italy's capital city, Rome was once the center of the Roman Empire and known as Caput Mundi: The Capital of the World.
The foundations of ancient Rome were laid on Palatine Hill, the city's birthplace. Below, monuments such as the Temple of Saturn and the Arch of Septimius are preserved in the Roman Forum, while the Colosseum remains the city's most enduring symbol.
Masterpieces by Bernini, Giotto, and Raphael can be seen at St. Peter's Basilica, the world's largest church, located in the grand surroundings of Piazza Saint Pietro within the Vatican City.
Once a stadium, Piazza Navona is another of Rome's great squares, now home to a trio of fountains, Baroque architecture and the aroma of Rome's best coffee. The Spanish Steps are another magnet for artists and lovers.
No visit to the 'Eternal City' is complete without making a wish at the nearby Trevi Fountain. Toss a coin into the Trevi, and one day you're sure to return to Rome.
