+ RESPEITO | Group Exhibition | Apaixonarte | Dec 2019
Apaixonarte is pleased to present its first collective + RESPEITO. A group exhibition which aims to reflect on the number of victims of domestic violence in our country in a 2019 retrospective view. Calling for a closer and solution-focused look to create space for + (more) RESPECT.
In 2018, 28 female deaths were reported in the context of domestic violence. More than in 2017, which counted 20 deaths. This year, although there are no official numbers yet, there are already 29 deaths reported by the media.
What is behind these deaths?
We know that 85% of victims of domestic violence are female, mostly between 36 and 50 years old, who belong to a nuclear family with children and that 80% suffer prolonged violence, on average between 2 and 6 years.
We know that hundreds of women and their children live in homes where fear, sometimes economic helplessness and indifference of their neighbors.
We know that children living in these environments carry trauma for the rest of their lives, with a strong chance of becoming future oppressors.
Domestic violence bloodstain the Portuguese society and it is necessary to stop this generational behavior and rooted cultural habits, through prevention.
Curated by Apaixonarte, it's presented 10 artworks of national artists who promptly joined this cause (Adamastor, Gonçalo Mar , Jorge Coelho, Margarida Fleming, Pedro Zamith, Ladeira , Rita Ravasco, SAMINA , Tamara Alves e Uma Joana) .
Together, we will revert 50% of sales to UMAR - União de Mulheres Alternativa e Resposta , which has been advocating gender equality in Portugal, for over 30 years.
The exhibition will run until January 11.

Oscillating between the minimal and psychedelic revisits cities of the future and the craving for constant evolution and innovation. Continuing today as a source of inspiration, which acts as an inner scream and feeds the eternal pursuit of perfect repetition.

IMPERMANÊNCIA | Valter Lopes | Apaixonarte | Teaser | Set 2019
IMPERMANÊNCIA solo exhibition by Valter Lopes at Apaixonarte, Lisbon
The impermanence that we can never be firm is like a thousand paradoxical and anachronistic revolutions. Everything must in a representation that begins, not exist, but to end. We are formed of opposite inclinations to each other.
Impermanence exists to advance, because the ethical is heavy, does not allow us to flow. That is why ideas are not permanent, we are always in constant change.
An impermanence, wish is an act of the soul, of the will, is not done without movement; nature exists because it moves and transforms.
Trembling, fickle and various matter. Everything lives on movement.
Valter Lopes

Where to eat in Lisbon, Portugal: Batata Doce | Where Locals Go
Chef and owner Isabel Jacinto incorporates her own background with a “healthy pinch of love” into her dish muamba, a stew with chicken, at her restaurant, Batata Doce, in Lisbon. She arrived in Portugal from Angola at age 2 during wartime after being found by Portuguese soldiers. Now she cooks from the heart in a small restaurant she runs with her husband in the Lapa neighborhood of Lisbon. Read more:

Here's our first 4K 60 fps video featuring the stunning gardens of the palace of the Marquis of Pombal in Oeiras, Portugal.
Sebastião José de Carvalho e Melo, 1st Marquis of Pombal, 1st Count of Oeiras (13 May 1699 – 8 May 1782), popularly known as Marquis of Pombal (Marquês de Pombal) was an 18th-century Portuguese statesman. He was Secretary of the State of Internal Affairs of the Kingdom (the equivalent of a Prime Minister today) in the government of Joseph I of Portugal from 1750 to 1777. Undoubtedly the most prominent minister in the government, he is considered to have been its de facto head.
The palace of the Marquis of Pombal and Count of Oeiras is a typical 18th century palace located in the historical center of Oeiras, near Lisbon.
Built under the leadership of the Hungarian architect Charles Mardel during the 2nd half of the 18th century, this palace served as the official residence of the Marquis of Pombal.
The palace and surrounding gardens feature stunning architectural and artistic elements such as stuccoes, Portuguese tiles, statues, etc.
Enjoy the visit to the gardens!
