Le Parc de Versailles
Le parc de Versailles, également appelé parc du château de Versailles, s'étend sur 815 hectares sur le territoire de la commune de Versailles, dans les Yvelines (France). Le parc représente en superficie environ un dixième de l'ancien domaine royal appelé le « Grand Parc », dont l'emprise a été sensiblement réduite à la Révolution, et qui est gérée par l'établissement public du château et du domaine de Versailles.
Dans ce parc entièrement clos, se trouvent plusieurs monuments, tels : le château de Versailles, le Petit Trianon et le Grand Trianon, le Hameau de la Reine, ainsi que les jardins à la française du château de Versailles créés par André Le Nôtre. Le parc regroupe également les jardins des Trianons, dont le jardin de style anglo-chinois de Marie-Antoinette, le potager du roi et deux grandes pièces d'eau : le Grand Canal et la pièce d'eau des Suisses.
Le reste du parc est occupé par des parcelles forestières ou agricoles, parcourues par de grandes allées rectilignes. C'est dans ce parc que prend naissance le ru de Gally qui draine le Grand Canal et s'écoule vers l'Ouest. Le parc est limité à l'Est par les parties urbanisées de Versailles et du Chesnay, au Nord par l'arboretum de Chèvreloup (commune de Rocquencourt) et à l'Ouest par la plaine de Versailles qui est un site classé. Au Sud, adossées au bois de Satory, qui appartient à la forêt domaniale de Versailles, se trouvent diverses implantations, dont le centre de recherche de l'INRA (qui occupe les terrains de l'ancienne ferme de la Ménagerie), la résidence de la Lanterne et le camp militaire des Matelots.
Le parc du château a fait l'objet de plusieurs protections successives au titre des monuments historiques . Après une première mention sur la liste des monuments historiques de 1862, un arrêté détaillé est pris le 31 octobre 1906. Il concerne le palais et ses dépendances, le petit parc et ses dépendances, les deux Trianons avec leurs parcs respectifs et leurs dépendances, ainsi que le grand parc.

Découverte de l'arboretum de Versailles-Chèvreloup. Un parc situé entre le centre commercial Parly 2 et le Château de Versailles qui regroupe près de 2 500 espèces d'arbres. Le site a été acquis par Louis XIV à la fin du 17ème siècle et propose aujourd'hui des visites.

Jardin : les portes ouvertes de L’arboretum de Chèvreloup

L’arboretum de Chèvreloup touche le jardin de Versailles. Les samedi 3 et dimanche 4 juin prochain, nous pourrons le visiter, de fond en comble, y compris les recoins cachés. Pendant le reste de l’année, les amoureux de la nature s’y promènent déjà au milieu de 1.700 espèces d’arbres différents dans 50 hectares de nature, sans bruit de voiture, avec chevreuils et lièvres en pagaille.
Pour les 3 et 4 juin, la totalité de l’arboretum est ouverte au public. Ce n’est plus 50 mais 200 hectares de nature pure, 200 hectares d’arbres rares. 200 hectares de liberté. Ces arbres ont été plantés par pays d’origine, dont d’étonnants conifères des montagnes de Corée. Les serres seront aussi ouvertes avec 2.200 plantes succulentes hallucinantes, colossales. Des cactus, comme on dit, de rêve, mais aussi des Cycas de légendes qui datent de l’exposition coloniale de 1931. Ils fascinaient le Maréchal Lyautey.

Jardin : le géranium à la rose

Son vrai nom est Pelargonium rosat ou géranium rosat, cousin de nos géraniums rouges des balcons. On le cultive en pot de la même manière. : C’est un descendant des géraniums odorants qui poussent en Afrique du Sud. Ils ont eu un succès fou dès le 17ème siècle, pour parfumer les balcons ou les jardins d’hiver. Les dames en raffolaient. Et pas qu’elles ! Les parfumeurs s’en sont emparés : ils avaient enfin trouvé la plante dont l’huile essentielle au parfum de rose pouvait remplacer celui des roses de Damas dont le prix était prohibitif.
Vous pouvez en acheter, c’est la saison. Tentez votre chance dans les jardineries, elles sont souvent ouvertes le dimanche. Il y en a aussi dans les expos de plantes comme dans l’Arboretum de Chèvreloup près de Versailles. Leur collection de géraniums odorants est unique en France. Vous aurez le droit de les toucher, de les sentir.
