Along Katipunan Avenue, beside UP Town Center has a welcome iron arch passage with a sign that reads NWSA. Passing through, you see an abandoned playground (A. Gideon Playground), a park with a huge water tank (tower) and a windmill (behind the locked gate) which opened to the public starting 1953. However, this area is currently closed. Other areas beside this, like the Picnic area with concrete benches remain. The Balara swimming pool and the Escoda Hall is only available for event rental or reservation at the MWSS office. A Small memorial, Worker's Monument (1:22, with a huge cross ingrained in a red tower like jug) is dedicated to the workers who died upon construction of the filters. The houses along Carriedo Street in the Balara (formerly NWSA) complex are in its original state..

taken june 12,2011,i felt so wasted and sad coz the memory left of my mp4 only 2minutes..i wish i could go back there again..coz this place is also on the top of U.P.-university of the philippines and marikina city high mountain overlooking the metro manila just like antipolo..when you go down is the maynilad water main office..

La Mesa Eco Park, Quezon City
The La Mesa Watershed and Eco-Park consists of the La Mesa Dam and an ecological nature reserve site in Quezon City commissioned in 1929 in the Philippines. It is part of the Angat-Ipo-La Mesa water system, which supplies most of the water supply of Metro Manila. The La Mesa Dam is an earth dam whose reservoir can hold up to 50.5 million cubic meters and occupying an area of 27 square kilometers.
The water collected in the reservoir is treated on-site by the Maynilad Water Services, and at the Balara Treatment Plant further south by the Manila Water. Both water companies are private concessionaires awarded by the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System, the government agency in charge of water supply. It is a vital link to the water requirements of 12 million residents of Metro Manila considering that 1.5 million liters of water pass through this reservoir everyday. It is also the last forest of its size in the metropolis.
