~ BOAT TRIPS AND KAYAKING IN PORTOFINO ~ GENOA DAY 5
Had a magical last day in Genoa. Portofino is absolutely gorgeous (ignore the fact that all we could afford was gelato). We went kayaking - which I never thought we'd do considering the fact that we both don't swim and dislike beaches.
Best day ever. Best trip ever. Genoa out.

The Port of Genova (Genoa), Italy - 13th July, 2014
This footage is taken from the cruise ship MSC Splendida, and features views of and around the Port of Genoa.
The industry of the port including containers and the surrounding hillsides and suburbs of Genoa are visible. On the roadway behind the ship a cycle race is taking place and the road is closed to traffic.
The film highlights the many contrasting building and architectural styles of the city, as well as some of the more historic aspects of the port infrastructure.

Camogli, Genoa, Liguria, Italy, Europe
Camogli is a fishing village and tourist resort located on the west side of the peninsula of Portofino, on the Golfo Paradiso in the Riviera di Levante, in the Metropolitan City of Genoa, Liguria, northern Italy. As of 30 April 2017 its population was of 5,332. Camogli is one of the largest areas of the Parco Naturale Regionale di Portofino, and a part of the Portofino Marine Protected Area. The name of the town is of ancient, though of disputed origin. One story suggests it comes from the shortened Casa de Moglie. When the ship captains sailed, they put their wives (mogli) in a sort of home for all of them (casa), and the town was well known for this. Hence being known as Camogli. In the late Middle Ages Camogli was a considerable seaport. In its heyday, its fleet consisted of hundreds of Tall Ships, and it was called the city of a thousand white sails. In 1798 the city hosted a large contingent of Napoleon's fleet, which was then beaten in the Egyptian waters of the Nile by Admiral Nelson. The prestigious naval college Cristoforo Colombo was founded in Camogli in 1874, named after the Genoese navigator Christopher Columbus. In 1880 the former fishing village had, in a population of 12,000, 500 registered as ship captains. Camogli now lives mainly from tourism and is known for its colorful houses that line the beach. The house colors once helped the fishermen of Camogli find the way back to their port. The local swimming club water polo RN Camogli has won several Italian championships and is known nationwide.

REPLICA PIRATE GALLEON - GENOA, ITALY.
This replica 17th century Spanish Galleon was built for the 1986 Roman Polanski film Pirates. It is now moored in the port of Genoa, Italy and is a striking sight. It was built in Sousse, Tunisia larger than an actual galleon of the time, is 63 metres long, and embellished with somewhat over the top figurines. Otherwise the ship is reasonably accurate above the water line. Power is supplied by 400 HP diesel engines. The built cost was $8 million which was around a quarter of the total production cost of the film. One of the largest film props ever built the ship is now a tourist attraction and can be boarded for 6 Euros at the time of writing (2015).
This video was shot on a Sony Bloggie 3D Camera and that version can be viewed elsewhere on my YouTube Channel. However, my PowerDirector 13 edit suite refused to handle the edit and the only alternative software I could find (PavTube) resulted in a very clunky, crash 3D edit. This reduction to 2D was easier to edit in PD13 and the YouTube stabilising software was superior to that in PD13.

Genoa, Italy VLOG: Aquarium and City Life
Here's our journey through Genoa! Quick funny story: Outside the aquarium were these dudes tryina give people gifts but really it was oh heres a free gift but were gunna hunt you down and harrass you for money for the rest of your life so I got away with like 20 gifts (bc they were super cool little animals carved out of stone and I wanted them and he said free so that means free to me, whatever) but so I took off with the gifts after they started harrassing me and then they totally chased me down and were super fast and stuff and then this Italian woman came out of the aquarium and totally went off on them like what the hell are you thinking running after a young girl, you peole are fucked up on your heads and you need help get out of my sight (but imagine that in a thick italian accent) and then they left and I thanked her and she's like that includes you get up out of my face girl
and that's how I got to keep 20 stone animals.

Ligurian Sea Cetacean Sanctuary | Italia Slow Tour
The area of Mediterranean Sea between Liguria, Tuscany and Sardinia is a Cetacean Sanctuary: here the sea level reaches 2000 meters, the water turnover is fast enough and there are optimal conditions for the survival of whales and dolphins! People can spot them, but with carefulness and respect.

Penguins at the Genoa Aquarium, Italy
The Genoa Aquarium was built for the Genoa Expo 1992. It houses 63 tanks in its 10,000 meter space, and is said to be the largest indoor aquarium in Europe. The first tank features a reconstruction of a 15th century pier in the harbor of Genova, considered the starting point for the voyage of Christopher Columbus and other prominent navigators.
