Evan Beaulieu Closes Out Rookie Season With First Win:
Scarborough, ME -- In the final race of his rookie season, Evan Beaulieu lead every lap to take his first win in the 56 Hancock Lumber/K&B Automotive Chevrolet in the Pro Series division at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway last Saturday night. With tears in his eyes in Victory Lane, Beaulieu realized just how big of a moment it was to win in the state's premier division.
This is incredible and I'm at a loss of words, I really can't describe how special this is, Beaulieu said jubilantly in victory lane, I'm so proud of this, I've had a great team behind me all year and we've all been building up to this together, it hasn't been easy and there were many nights we struggled, but it makes this win that much more special and I can't wait to celebrate with them.
After finishing second in his heat race earlier in the day, Beaulieu started first for the 40 lap feature. Beaulieu drove away early, but was challenged by the 11 of Tyler King for the top spot until a caution came out on lap 16. On the ensuing restart, Beaulieu was able to get the jump once again. Being challenged by the 72 of Charlie Colby, Beaulieu had to run a smooth line to keep the lead. At the finish, he was able to pull away from the stacked field of Super Late Model competitors en route to his first win.
Beaulieu ended the season 11th in the Pro Series point standings in his rookie season, grabbing five top ten finishes and that elusive win to close the season driving the Naughty Racing 56 for runner up in 2013 point standings, Dan McKeage. The weekend wasn't over there though, as Evan and the team traveled to Unity Raceway on Sunday to compete in the Nelcar Legends race. He won his heat race and finished second in the feature. As for the rest of the season, the driver is unsure where his next event will be, but wants to be behind the wheel as often as he can.
The only thing I do know is we want to hit up a few of the final Legends Car races this year and they run into October, said Beaulieu talking about the rest of the season, We would still like to run another Super Late Model race, possibly a PASS race, but we will have to wait and see what we can do.
