Dumaguete Cathedral and Belfry
The Saint Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church, simply known as the Dumaguete Cathedral, is one of most historical landmarks in the city. This coral stone Spanish inspired architecture which stands at the heart of the ever religious city of Dumaguete. Along side the cathedral erects the belfry or bell tower. It was back then used to call people for Sunday services and other religious celebrations.

The bell church is run by the Dumaguete Chinese community who tell, sincerely, of the serenity the place offers, which they consider as something good for the harried soul. People come here to light incense and to entrust their prayers and wishes to the pantheon of Chinese deities. That it neighbors the Visayan Sea adds to the place’s appeal.
