Mount Talinis
Our trip to Mt. Talinis in Negros Oriental. Mt. Talinis is the second highest peak on the island. It has three different routes that vary in difficulty.
Our jump-off point was near the entrance of Casaroro Falls in Valencia. From there it takes about 6 hours total to reach the Lake Nailig campsite for fit hikers. From the lake, it takes 45 minutes to reach Nacolon peak (1900 meters) which is the second highest peak in negros. NOTE: The lake is actually a volcanic crater. It's small and there is no outlet for water and is also the source of drinking water for hikers. Swimming, urinating, washing dishes, bathing, and anything to pollute the water is NOT allowed.
An easier alternative is to camp at clearing called the ranch which is about a 3-hour hike from our jump-off point.
Less experienced hikers can start off at Dauin. While hikers who want a leisurely hike can start off from the geothermal plant using the Artista trail. I've seen elderly people at the campsite using this trail.

Okay. Ang totoo nyan hindi namin naabot ang summit dahil nakulangan na kami sa oras. We started around 7am, we should’ve started pala at 3am para di kami abutin ng gabi. May bagyo pa nung time na yan kaya sobrang lamig din while hiking.
But anyway, tiring pero enjoy pa din. ????

Mount Talinis Hike [Negros] - Philippines
This video shows a hike that I went on up Mount Talinis, which is hands down the hardest hike which was more of a climb that I have ever been on. Full of slippery slopes, of mud and rocks and having to use tree roots or anything we could to climb up the crazy unmarked track to the top of the volcano.
After 8 hours of walking, we were hit by a big storm that soaked us to the bone, after a very sketchy climb down we made it back to the hostel shaking and shivering, I hopped in the shower and I found 4 ticks imbedded in my ankles along with a spider bite that put me in hospital in Vietnam a few days after this.

Also known as Cuernos de Negros (Horns of Negros), is a volcano in the Philippine province of Negros Oriental. At about 1,903 metres (6,243 ft) above sea level, it is the second highest mountain on Negros Island after Mount Kanlaon. The volcano is located 9 km (5.6 mi) southwest of the municipality of Valencia; and 20 km (12 mi) from Dumaguete City, the capital of the province.

This is my 2nd major climb. It's our first preclimb for our upcoming climb to Mt Halcon. It's also my 1st Talinis Climb. Twas awesome . So far it's my favorite trail. It's a little bit acrobatic. Super challenging.
