Located at a distance of 50 kms. from Pune, this ancient piece of marvellous architecture intrigued us standing true to the expectations. It is believed that the temple was built in the 13th century by the King Krishnadevaraya of the Vijaynagar Dynasty. Hope my hindi lover subscribers and viewers like this blog. Bhuleshwar is a temple of Lord Shiva,
located around around 55 kilometres from Pune near village Yewat on Pune- Solapur Highway.
The temple is situated on a hill and was built in the 13th century.
There are classical carvings on the walls. It has been declared as a protected monument
Originally, it was a fort which was called as ‘Mangalgadh’.
Bhuleshwar Temple - Yawat, Pune
Bhuleshwar temple, is located 10kms from Yawat village and 50 kms from Pune. Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva built by Yadava rullers in 1230 AD, on the fort called as Daulatmangal also referred as Mangalgad. The temple is unique because of its architecture. From outside it appears to more as a mosque than a temple due to its resemblance to Islamic architecture like circular tomb and minarets.There are several carved sculptures of Parvati, Lord Ganesha,Nandi, Kali, Shakti, Vishnu,Saraswati, Laxmi as well as Apsaras/Surasundaris,Gandharvas-Yakshas, bhaarvahakas (on pillar) adorning the walls of the temple. The carvings inside temple are marvellous but many of them are broken except upper panels. Particularly all the Gods are shown in feminine form on upper panels like Vinayaki, Maheshwari, Vaishnavi, Bramhi, Kartikeyani, Indrani etc. The place got its name from this story. “To sedate” means “bhul” in Marathi. As Shiva was seduced by Paravati (Bhilla woman appearance) , hence he is also called “Bhuleshwar”.

Bhuleshwar temple, is located 10 kms from Yawat village and 45 kms from Pune. Bhuleshwar has a mythological & historical significance. Originally, it was a fort which was called as 'Mangalgadh'.
The temple is also known for the folk-tale about it, when a bowl of sweet (pedhas) is offered to the Shiva Ling, one or more of the sweets disappear.

The Bhuleshwar Shiv temple at Yawat is one of the few remains of the earlier Mangalgad - a fort built by Murar Jagadev to monitor Pune region. The carvings in this temple depict serveral scenes in the legends Hindu Mahabharat and Ramayan. One needs a full day to visit this place. Bhuleshwar temple is at about 90 minutes drive from Pune, India.
