Generals Highway Northbound - Sequoia National Park, Sequoia NF, Kings Canyon National Park
Traveling over the whole Generals Highway, crossing Sequoia National Park, Sequoia National Forest and Kings Canyon National Park. The video shows Generals Highway northbound - from the Ash Mountain entrance to Sequoia National Park to the Big Stump entrance (exit) to Kings Canyon National Park.
Generals Highway - this is its proper spelling - is a 52.3-kilometer (32.5-mile) Californian highway connecting Highway 198 and Highway 180. It is one of the most scenic roads in the United States - and, in my opinion, in the world. Generals Highway crosses the Sequoia National Park, the Giant Sequoia National Monument section of the Sequoia National Forest and Kings Canyon National Park.

Big Meadow at Sequoia National Forest, California July 2014
On this trip, we tried a little bit of off-roading. We took the Big Meadow Rd. off from Generals Highway.
The drive into Kings Canyon National Park, to Grant Grove Village
Here's a look at the drive on California Highway 180 into Kings Canyon National Park, at the Big Stump entrance, ending at Grant Grove Village.

I made this trip in June 2018. Video shot with a Brinno TLC-200 Pro time-lapse camera mounted on my roof with a homemade magnetic case. I travel with two Brinno cameras - one facing forward, the other in reverse. Sometimes the reverse camera captures better video (fewer raindrops and bugs hit the rear-view lens).

Sequioa 60
This winter, Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Parks in California will expand your perspective, renew your spirit and challenge your sense of wonder.
Under the snowy boughs and branches of the big trees, Sequoia and Kings Canyon make for a magical winter wonderland. Hidden beneath their winter “coat,” dusty summer trails disappear and hiking boots give way to skis and snowshoes on well-marked cross-country trails. Sledding, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and snow play at Wolverton Meadow and Grant Grove will reward the well-bundled visitor. Head over to the Big Stump snow play area and build a snowman with the kids, or toboggan down an icy track if you dare.
Winter in Sequoia and Kings Canyon also brings with it a nostalgic, old-fashioned, stare-into-the-roaring-fire kind of vacation experience that is a relaxing counterpoint to the high-adrenaline ski vacations offered elsewhere in the California Sierra. It’s a different way to experience the season, and the perfect way to reconnect with family and loved ones.

Big Stump Loop Hike and Trail Guide - Mark Twain Stump - Kings Canyon National Park
The Big Stump Loop Hike passes through an area where Sequoias were once logged. This loop goes through Big Stump Meadow, passes the Mark Twain Stump, the Shattered Tree, and the Sawed Tree. A nice trail, but a little disheartening.
Sequoia National Park Tree shows Time Events on Growth Rings
This is just outside of the nearest ACSC AAA Auto Club for all my DMV transactions.
It is the cross-section of a huge tree from the Sequoia National Park. I am describing the markers indicating certain events in time matched with the trees growth rings.
At about 3:00 I make a comment after glancing at a small sign that this chunk of tree is on loan by the Sequoia National Park saying LOANED!? Are they going to take it back!?
My cars registration expires Feb of 2013. And I will be getting my Driver's License renewed in January of 2012. It is much better that waiting in long lines at the DMV.
It is where I went this afternoon to get the title for the 1999 Toyota Camry that I own so that would have the correct address. When I lived in Culver City I had to pay $15 as the transfer from the lien that Toyota had. This time I had to pay $18 to update the address, but that was about two years ago and the cost of everything has been going up this year for almost everything.
They also gave me a copy of my DMV Registration Paper shows it is a 1999 but I that I first bought it in 2002. I had bought it in Santa Monica because some bad driver had run into my white Toyota Corolla. Since I had been paying the $117 auto debited from my Bank of America account. They upgraded me to the Camry and then I was paying $385 per month. My old address use to be Culver City in apartment 405 and I was very close to the 405 Freeway. Now I am in apartment 108 or Condo 108. I tell people over the phone that it rhymes as Apt 108 and I am usually not late'.
I am a Premier Member of the Auto Club and my ID says as membership 42 years. And I also have an AAA Life Insurance Policy as well as their Insurance on for my automobile.

Seeing the largest tree in the World at Sequoia National Park | Fulltime RV Living
We had so much fun hiking and exploring in Sequoia National Park. The size of these trees is unbelievable! We were able to visit the largest tree by volume in the world! It was HUGE. We also took the van and drove through a tree. Luckily we didn't try this with the Trailer because that would not have ended up well.
When you travel with kids you are always looking for fun and cool things to do. We would say seeing the largest tree in the world and driving through a tree ranks up there as an amazing family travel location that everyone - including Mom and Dad will enjoy.
It was hard to nail it down to one day but we did and we fit a lot in of really cool things while we were there. Sequoia is a National Park that should not be missed!

Sequoia National Park - Biggest trees in the world
2 days exploring the Sequoia National park, the biggest trees in the world! Are Sequoias bigger than redwoods? Why do sequoias need fire?
We decided to stay two full days in this amazing forest of giant trees, in the middle of California, USA. After driving in a dry desert, we arrived in the Sequoia forest on the top of a high altitude mountain. While we were there, we enjoyed our time visiting pretty much everything in the Sequoia National Park:
- General Sherman, the biggest tree in the whole world;
- Moro rock, a breathtaking viewpoint on the top of the sequoia forest;
- Beetle rock, a stunning place to see the sunset and take in the fresh air.
- Tunnel log, where you can drive your car through a giant tree.
- Giant trees trail, the perfect hike to learn more about the Sequoias;
- The Senate group, a bunch of giant sequoia trees all grouped together, highly impressive!
Learn more about the Sequoias with our mini Sequoia Documentary!
