First day of our bicycle tour of the Netherlands in Spring 2017. This leg is between Amsterdam and the outskirts of Haarlem, en route to Zandvoort.

City Cycling - Amsterdam, The Netherlands
This video was filmed during my trip through the Netherlands. Amsterdam is one of the most bicycle friendly major cities in the entire world, and it was a real pleasure being able to ride a bike through it and share it in this video!
As always, I have added in a digital speedometer and heart rate monitor, and included voice commentary to help keep the video interesting. If you like this format of video, please also check out the many videos that I have posted riding in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
In this video I used my new Contour Roam 2 camera to shoot the action footage. I recorded the audio with my Panasonic voice recorder. I tracked the speed and heart rate using my Garmin eTrex 30 GPS, and wrote a basic program in Turing to display the numbers on the screen.
Special thanks to my Dad for being the navigator and follow vehicle for this ride! I definitely couldn't have done it without him leading the way!

Tulip Fields Bicycle Tour Amsterdam
New Amsterdam Travel Video- It's Spring and the tulips, hyacinths, narcissus and daffodils are in full bloom. And not just in the Keukenhof Flower Gardens, but also in the tulip fields in the area. Just 30 minutes from Amsterdam by bus, train or car, the best way to see these bright fields of color is by bike. We met up with Steve & Jodi from Steve & Jodi's Travels and Chloe from Secrets of a World Traveller to take a cycle tour with Vera from Verita's Visit. Vera is passionate about the tulip area and is enthusiastic to show visitors more of what's around than just the tulip fields and gardens. She can take you to the Keukenhof and the surrounding fileds, but also to see a bulb farm, a cheese farm, windmills, a tulip museum, a castle and small villages that sell local products. We had a blast tiptoeing through the tulips and so much more!

Bicycle Tour the Netherlands - Amsterdam to Rotterdam - Family Bike tour - Part 2
In the summer of 2017, our family returned to Europe to do another awesome bike tour. We started in Amsterdam and bicycled 800 km in a circle to Brussels and back to Amsterdam. This part of the bike tour takes us from Amsterdam to Rotterdam. The ride was 75km. This day has us biking the famed LF routes (Landelijke Fietsroutes). The LF routes are cross country bike traveling routes intended for multi-day bicycle tours.

Biking in Netherlands, Holland, Biking in Europe
Netherland is considered the country of bikes and it’s so true. There are more bikes in Amsterdam than people. This video shares my experience of biking in this beautiful country. Although it was raining still, it was a lovely ride. The infrastructure is developed considering the biker community in mind. Route maps are very well developed and all the roads are paved. I even biked in the night at 2 Am, it was pitch dark but still safe to ride. Enjoy the video to get a more visual experience

There are more bicycles than people in Amsterdam. Cycling for the majority is the primary way of getting around and because of this the Dutch take cycling seriously. There is little patience for people who muck up the system. Before you rent that bike learn the rules of the road and once you rented, get to know your bike and practice riding it where you will not disturb others.
