The Race – an overview
First launched in 2013, the first Borneo Bird Race saw 10 countries travel more than 1000 kilometres in search of more than 400 species of birds in a wide range of habitats from the coastal regions, freshwater swamps, lowland forests, to the hills and mountain ranges of Sabah, Sarawak and Brunei. At the end of the day, each team will enjoy the beauty of this land as they count the numbers of recorded species, and the longest list shall earn the prestigious “Bornean Bristlehead Cup”.
The Race will cover Ulu Temburong National Park in Brunei, Borneo HIghlands Resort in Sarawak, and Kinabalu Park and Rainforest Discovery Centre, Sepilok, Sabah.

NOTES:
The slide caption for the piece of art named Cocoon seems somewhat very long, but I wanted to give enough time for interested people to read it thoroughly (either in Portuguese or in English). In case it bothers you, push forward with the mouse the time button. In my opinion, the text is too philosophic... I was told that the Cocoon will not stay in the garden after September 30, 2011.
The ducks are another story! With any doubt they belong to the family Anatidae. As far as I could go in the Internet, I think they are either the American Black Duck (Anas rubripes) or the Mottled Duck (Anas fulvigula) or even a variety in between. I have deep doubts because the ducks are described to live in North America that is why I asked some experts on line; however, and unfortunately, I did not receive any feedback...
