RVing New England: Hyannis and Plymouth
Once again, the weather forced us to change our plans. We had hoped to ride a boat cruise to Hyannis Port, but no tours were running. Instead, we went through the JFK Museum in Hyannis. To find better weather, we drove north to Plymouth, visited Plymouth Rock, then toured the Plimoth Plantation living museum. It wasn’t the day we had in mind, but we still made some great memories!

Brewster, Cape Cod
Quaint, quiet, and slow-paced, Brewster is one of the Cape's most picturesque towns. Many of the beautiful old inns and charming restaurants were sea captains' homes in the 18th and 19th centuries.
All of Brewster's saltwater beaches are on Cape Cod Bay. At low tide, it's possible to walk out a mile on the Brewster Flats.
Brewster is home to the Cape Museum of Natural History, which offers nature and marine exhibits, guided field walks, classes, and self-guided trails through 80 acres of marshland, forest, and ponds.
Nickerson Park is ideal for biking or picnics among more than 1,700 acres of tall pines, bike trails, and fresh-water ponds.
The Cape Cod Rail Trail runs through town along an abandoned railbed. Bikers pass by salt marshes, cranberry bogs, ponds, and Nickerson State Park.

This video starts at the bridge and documents the return voyage to the beach at the head of Paines Creek. To compress the paddle the video is sped up in parts. Enjoy

Diving Little Brewster Island, Boston Harbor - Part 1
September 2016 - Little Brewster Island, Boston Harbor Islands, Massachusetts
Beautiful diving along Little Brewster Island on a stormy day in Boston Harbor. The first part of the footage was filmed during the surface interval, as we move the boat farther away from the island due to the storm.
After it passed and we got the go-ahead via radio, we did a second dive. Visibility was actually really good for the area (~20 feet) once down the line about 20 feet, max depth around 45' ~ (14 m).

Cape Cod Massachusetts Beaches_New England
Cape Cod, often referred to locally as simply the Cape, is a cape in the easternmost portion of the state of Massachusetts, in the Northeastern United States. It is coextensive with Barnstable County. Several small islands right off Cape Cod, including Monomoy Island, Monomoscoy Island, Popponesset Island, and Seconsett Island, are also in Barnstable County, being part of municipalities with land on the Cape. The Cape's historic and maritime character and ample beaches attract heavy tourism during the summer months.
Cape Cod was formed as the terminal moraine of a glacier, resulting in a peninsula in the Atlantic Ocean. In 1914, the Cape Cod Canal was cut through the base or isthmus of the peninsula, forming what may be loosely described as an island. The Cape Cod Commission refers to the resultant landmass as an island; as does the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in regards to disaster preparedness.
Unofficially, it is one of the biggest barrier islands in the world, shielding much of the Massachusetts coastline from North Atlantic storm waves. This protection helps to erode the Cape shoreline at the expense of cliffs, while protecting towns from Fairhaven to Marshfield.
Road vehicles from the mainland cross over the Cape Cod Canal via the Sagamore Bridge and the Bourne Bridge. The two bridges are parallel some four miles apart, with the Bourne Bridge to the west, and the Sagamore to the east. In addition, the Cape Cod Canal Railroad Bridge carries railway freight as well as tourist passenger services.
