Capo Testa è una piccola penisola (in realtà un'isola, poi artificialmente collegata alla terraferma) situata nel nord della Sardegna, a pochi chilometri da Santa Teresa di Gallura.
Sul promontorio di Capo Testa è presente un faro di fondamentale importanza per la navigazione nel tratto di mare delle Bocche di Bonifacio. A fianco al nuovo faro vi sono le infrastrutture che costituiscono il vecchio faro. Tali infrastrutture, visitabili, costituiscono un punto di osservazione fantastico sulle scogliere sottostanti e sulla Corsica. (Wikipedia)

Capo Testa (in Gallura and Corso Capu Testa ) is a small peninsula (actually an island, then artificially connected to the mainland) located in the north of Sardinia , a few kilometers from Santa Teresa di Gallura. It overlooks the Bocche di Bonifacio and is connected to the mainland by a narrow isthmus , along which there are two beaches. The promontory is made up of the typical Gallura granite rocks eroded by the wind and has a perimeter of about ten kilometers. Capo Testa was used at the time of the Romans both for its strategic position and for obtaining the present granite that was extracted and transported to Rome .
Since the beginning of the seventies Capo Testa has started its tourist development and is considered one of the most beautiful and appreciated sites of Gallura and of Sardinia. Capo Testa is a site of Community interest (SCI), established under the Community Habitat Directive and included in the system of areas dedicated to the conservation of biodiversity, belonging to the Natura 2000 ecological network.
On the promontory of Capo Testa there is a lighthouse of fundamental importance for navigation in the stretch of sea of the Bocche di Bonifacio. Next to the new lighthouse there are the infrastructures that make up the old lighthouse. These infrastructures, which can be visited, constitute a fantastic observation point on the underlying reefs and on Corsica. The sheltered beaches are used for swimming by tourists including the famous Valle della Luna. From Capo Testa you can easily see the Lavezzi Islands and the southern part of Corsica .
The Capo Testa quarries were part of a system of production and transport of larger granite that saw them joined to those of the Municca peninsula, Punta Falcone and the islets of the Marmorata in the most economically important Roman activity in the area. The Roman frequentation of Capo Testa seems to have taken place in two stages: a first phase between the first century BC and the first century AD and a second phase, in the late imperial age, between the second and fourth centuries. There was not a real residential center but more agglomerations of small dimensions. Nineteenth-century sources hint at the presence of remains of villas with columns of which today, there seems to be no trace.

Bellissima accoglienza a Santa Teresa Gallura per il giro d'Italia 2017!
Nella via principale è stato dipinto sull'asfalto tutto il palmares del giro, un gruppo di intrepidi ha lavorato da mezzanotte alle 5 del mattino!altri cittadini volenterosi hanno reso rosa tutto il paese e i dintorni addobbando vetrine, balconi e scorci. Buona visione!
