The Bronze Horseman is a monument to Peter the Great, the founder of Saint Petersburg, located on the Senate Square. The monument was made of bronze with his horse rearing above the snake of treason. Its inscription reads ‘To Peter I from Catherine II – 1782’.
We strolled along the bank of Neva River with amazing view of boats, vessels in the water.

VLOG - DAY 2,ST PETERSBURG|VIEW FROM COLONNADE OF ST ISAAC'S CATHEDRAL|CRUISER AURORA|TRAM JOURNEY
This video is based on our 2nd day in St Petersburg.
we visited Cruiser Aurora by Tram.Trams in Saint Petersburg are a major mode of public transit in the city.Trams are cheap and interesting way to get around the city.
Cruiser Aurora :
Cruiser Aurora is a very big ship turned in to museum at the Petrograd embankment on the Neva, which had a very important role in the Russian Revolution.
The Russian Revolution of 1917 started with a blank shot fired from the battleship aurora, which was meant to be a signal to the Bolsheviks to storm the winter palace.Aurora is also the oldest surviving ship of the Russian Navy, having fought during the Russo-Japanese War of 1904-1905,WWI and during the Great Patriotic War her canons were used to defend Leningrad.
But we didn't go inside.
Field of Mars :
The Field of Mars is an open space of land located near the Summer Gardens and back from the Neva river. It is a small square and in the center of the memorial is the eternal flame,Monument to the Fighters of the Revolution, in the honor of all fallen soldiers as well as all Russian victories.Taxi dropped us at Summer Garden, but It was closed. When we returned we walked across the field to a destination on the other side.
There's not much to see.
View From The Colonnade Of The St. Isaac’s Cathedral :
It's a MUST in St Petersburg. One of the most beautiful & glorious places in Saint Petersburg. Absolutely incredible view of the city from the colonnade,360-degree-panorama with major landmarks and marvelous landscapes below.you will have to climb a long spiral staircase.
There are massive red granite columns at the front of the building and the use of other decorative stones, including marble and malachite, inside the building. I was also impressed by the large golden-coloured dome, which could be seen from quite a distance.
It costs 200 Ruble per head for the colonnade, well worth the climb.

Greatest Russian Cathedrals in St. Petersburg. Short description for visitors
Short description of the Greatest cathedrals, built in St. Petersburg
St. Petersburg - Spilled Blood Cathedral & Hermitage

The Hermitage Museum ranks among the most prestigious museums in the world, containing about three million objects of unparalleled importance. The route takes you through the State Rooms of the Winter Palace, the collection of Western European art featuring Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, Titian and others, Dutch and Flemish Art collections, including masterpieces by Rembrandt, Rubens and Van Dyck, and the French Impressionists Collection. You'll see the collection of Spanish art, second only to Madrid's Prado and the collection of French art, which is the largest outside France, displaying works by Degas, Renoir, Monet, Cezzanne, Van Gogh, Gauguin, and Matisse.
From the Hermitage, your coach proceeds to drive towards one of the main landmarks of St. Petersburg -- the Church on Spilled Blood. This exquisitely decorated cathedral was built on the spot were Tsar Alexander II was fatally wounded by a member of the People's Will revolutionary terrorist organization on March I, 1881. Combining the artistic styles of the 15th, 16th and 17th centuries, the cathedral is a kaleidoscope of decorative elements, with an extensive collection of mosaics that cover over 8,400 square yards, and five domes that are covered with more than 1,000 square yards of jeweler's enamel.
Alexander Column In St. Petersburg
From the creator of the marvelous St. Isaac's Cathedral came this monument to the Russian military victory in the war with Napoleon's France. Named after Emperor Alexander I, who ruled Russia between 1801 and 1825 (during the Napoleonic Wars), the column is a terrific piece of architecture and engineering.
The Alexander Column (Aleksandrovskaia Kolonna), the focal point of Palace Square, was designed by the French-born architect Auguste de Montferrand and built between 1830 and 1834. The monument is 155 feet 8 inches tall and is topped with a statue of an angel holding a cross (the face of the angel is said to be modeled on the face of Emperor Alexander I). The body of the column is made of a single monolith of red granite, which stands 83 feet 6 inches high and about 11 feet 5 inches in diameter. It is a terrific feat of engineering that this enormous column, weighing an incredible 1,322,760 pounds (600 tons), was erected in under 2 hours without the aid of modern cranes and engineering machines.
The pedestal of the Alexander Column is decorated with symbols of military glory. The monument is particularly impressive on a sunny evening shortly before dusk, when the last beams of sunlight are reflected in the polished red granite of the column.

This tour offers you an exciting opportunity to view St. Petersburg from a completely different angle. You'll see the city from the water surrounding its numerous squares, monuments and palaces. Your coach will bring you to the pier in the city center, where you'll start your fascinating journey through the rivers and canals of the 'Venice of the North.' The exact route of your trip will depend on the boat size and traffic conditions of the waterways.
You'll then disembark near the Cathedral on Spilled Blood, where you'll continue with a tour of this remarkable building. The cathedral was built in 1907 on the spot where the Russian Tsar Alexander II had been assassinated in 1881. In a strikingly original way, the architect Parland incorporated all the features of old Russian churches, embellishing it in exuberant style with ornate decorations loosely modeled on St. Basil's Cathedral in Moscow. The area covered by mosaics is about 23,000 square feet, believed to be the largest indoor mosaic work in the world. The best painters, masters of mosaic stone carving, ceramic and enamel of the 19th-20th centuries, took part in the decoration of the church.
An outstanding feature of the interior decor is a variety of Italian colored marble and Russian semi-precious stones. Restoration of the church started in 1974. It was a very painstaking process. The restorers employed only the same type of materials and technology used when the cathedral was built, including 30 kinds of rare marble and about 100 types of precious stones. In August of 1997 the Cathedral of the Savior on Spilled Blood was opened to the public in all its original extraordinary appearance.

Alexei Korzukhin Paintings!
Alexey Ivanovich Korzukhin (Russian: Алексей Иванович Корзухин; 23 March 1835, Perm Governorate — 30 October 1894, Saint Petersburg) was a Russian genre painter.
He was born into a family of gold prospectors near Yekaterinburg. As a young man, he worked in a local railway factory and the mint. He had started painting when he was still a child so, in 1858, he entered the Imperial Academy of Fine Arts where he studied under Pyotr Basin and Fyodor Bruni. In 1861, he was awarded a gold medal and a stipend for travelling expenses. However, in 1863, he became a member of the Revolt of the Fourteen, a group of students who favored Realism and were protesting the Academy's insistence on painting in the Classical style. He and the others withdrew from the Academy, accepting the designation of Artist Second-Class. Shortly thereafter, he joined the Artel of Artists, an artistic commune, and remained with them until they disbanded in 1871. He also became a member of the Association of Travelling Art Exhibitions (Peredvizhniki) and taught drawing at the Society for the Encouragement of the Arts.
In 1865, his painting Wake in the Village Cemetery earned him the rank of Artist First-Class and, three years later, he was named an Academician. In addition to his paintings of daily life, he did portraits and religious works. These include icons and depictions of the Four Fathers of the Church at the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour; wall paintings at the Ascension Cathedral in Yelets; and thirteen images for the narthex of Nativity Cathedral, Riga. He also exhibited widely, including the Second Annual International Exhibition in London (1872), the Weltausstellung in Vienna (1873) and the Centennial Exposition in Philadelphia (1876).
He was a witness to the assassination of Tsar Alexander II in 1881. This resulted in severe nervous shock and he never fully recovered his health.

Saint Petersburg, Russia - Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood, Winter Palace and Palace Square
Welcome to our first video in St. Petersburg, Russia - Peter the Great's city established in 1703 on the Neva River and right near the Baltic Sea! This fantastic city shows the more European side of Russia though still with its own, unique Russian flair!
This is the first compilation of videos from SPB - first, we are looking at the beautiful Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood, right on the Griboyedov canal. This cathedral was started in 1883 on the site of Tsar Alexander II's murder two years prior - hence the fitting name! The style is Russian Revival architecture, and the facade is reminiscent of the world famous St. Basil's in Moscow.
After this we continue our walk up the Neva River to Palace Square, where sites the Winter Palace and, inside it, the world famous State Hermitage Museum. Just in front of this sits the yellow semi-circle General Staff Building, designed by Carlo Rossi in the early 1800s and at its center sits a massive triumphal arch, this commemorating the victory over Napoleonic France in 1812.
Many more videos with fantastic scenery and sights to see from St. Petersburg - we hope you enjoy this brief collection of clips from our first day, and stick around for much more!!
Walking Around Church of the Savior on Blood in St. Petersburg, Russia
The Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood (Russian: Церковь Спаса на Крови, Tserkovʹ Spasa na Krovi) is one of the main sights of St. Petersburg, Russia. It is also variously called the Church on Spilt Blood (Russian: Церковь на Крови, Tserkov' na Krovi) and the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ (Russian: Собор Воскресения Христова, Sobor Voskreseniya Khristova), its official name.
The preferred Russian name for this great church is Храм Спаса на Крови (Khram Spasa na Krovi), but each English-language tourist publication seems to list it under a different name. The name Spilled Blood is most popular in preference to the likes of the Church of the Resurrection, Church of our Savior on the Blood, Cathedral of the Ascension, Resurrection of the Christ, or Assumption, Church of the Redeemer, or any permutation of the above.[1]
This Church was built on the site where Tsar Alexander II was assassinated and was dedicated in his memory. It should not to be confused with the Church on Blood in Honour of All Saints Resplendent in the Russian Land, located in the city of Yekaterinburg where the former Emperor Nicholas II (1868--1918) and several members of his family and household were executed following the Bolshevik Revolution.
