Pierwsze w Europie Środkowej interaktywne muzeum włókiennictwa zostało otwarte dla zwiedzających 9 kwietnia w Łodzi. Na odkrywających niezwykłe instalacje w Centralnym Muzeum Włókiennictwa czeka m.in. spotkanie z Ludwikiem Geyerem, czy multimedialna podróż po świecie mody. W sumie przygotowano niemal 100 angażujących aplikacji, w tym kilkanaście filmów oraz animacji.

Interactive Central Museum of Textiles: The scientific, collector and promotion interests of the museum concentrate around everything related to textile manufacturing process -- from materials, through textile techniques and technologies to textiles products representing various processing degree. This assumption results in the fact that apart from textiles we also collect other non-textiles fibres, felts, knitting as well as garments made of them and contemporary artworks created from paper (because linen and cotton end their lives in paper mills).
Living in Łódź: An Overview
Lodz, pronounced 'woodge', is Poland's third largest city with a population slightly less than 800,000. Like almost all of Poland it suffered tremendous loss during World War II and has had to since redevelop its city and and in turn its population. Before the 1990's the city's economy was based in the textile industry. However, due to its central location within Poland, southwest of Warsaw, and north east of Krakow many international companies are moving to Lodz, not only for its location but its investor friendly policies as well. As a result, new highways are being built connecting Lodz to other major cities in Poland and faster trains and tracks are coming into use making the commute time to Warsaw only an hour and a half. This has also affected the housing market, as there is now an abundance of new expat housing available. Even though Lodz is not country's cultural hub, there is still plenty to do and see in this green city (Europe's largest city Park is located here - Łagiewniki) for the whole family. Museums, theaters, restaurants, shops, and children's activities can be found throughout. One of the largest of the old textile factories has been turned into a large shopping mall, Manufaktura - a great example of the development this city is undergoing. Piotrkowska Street, a 5km long commercial street is at the center of this city. This makes it one of the longest commercial streets in the world. With the ever changing face of this city, its central location to the rest of Poland and a cosmopolitan lifestyle on offer Lodz is sure to make settling into your new home enjoyable.

The sound of loom in operation was recorded in the Central Museum of Textiles in Łódź (Poland).
It is a complete and fully operational power overpick loom intended for the manufacturing of bareface fabric. It was manufactured in 1892 by Maschinenfabrik Ruti vorm. Caspar Honegger A.-G; iron cast was performed in Łódź.

Throughout his career Brinkmann has focussed on the human operating amongst industry alongside rhythms that manifest as a result of technological advancement. With this new release Brinkmann makes a u-turn, looking back to the early industrial age. Comprised of recordings of various looms, Raupenbahn investigates the sonic properties and consequences of the first automatic loom as constructed by Jacques de Vaucanson in 1745. Thomas Brinkmann once again adheres to his tendency for clarity and simplicity whilst further investigating not only the sound and rhythms of the machines (looms) but also what role they serve in society and what consequences they have on the environment. Raupenbahn presents 21 tracks in total, 11 feature on the vinyl, the remaining 10 as digital bonus tracks. The majority of recordings were undertaken by Brinkmann in 2017 with a Neumann KM 184 stereo set. Additional recordings were sourced with permission from Monika W. recs. from 2014 Central Museum of Textiles Łódź, Poland. Each piece presents a diversity of material which borders on the breathtaking and beautiful in richness and complexity. The various looms unravel rhythms and patterns unexpected from machines of the early industrial age. The loom holds a significant role in shaping our world being the catalyst for Charles Babbage’s Analytical Engine which, alongside the subsequent work of Byron’s daughter Ada Lovelace, paved the way for modern computing. There is a linage of the loom that fits succinctly in Brinkmann’s overall argument. Here we encounter a parallel between machine driven economies and the music that rose from such places, consider the Sheffield steel industries, the Manchester weaving industry or the Rhineland / Düsseldorf loom and machine industry. Is it a coincidence that the practice of such machines in the environment gave rise to today’s predilection for electronic dance music, in pop, soundtracks, etc Raupenbahn features no treatment or processing and explicitly displays varying tempo and timbres which ascertain a wide range of acoustic structures. The artwork features Ingrid Wiener, Rosemarie Trockel and Alexandra Bircken, three different generations who would with ideas of fabric weaving, loming and the like. Opened in 1986 inside Karol Scheibler’s extraordinary 19th-century palace, the Cinematography Museum offers visitors two unique attractions in one. The museum itself offers a well-presented history of Polish cinema and takes plenty of hats off to the multitude of Polish film greats who studied in the city before going on to greater things, as well as numerous changing exhibitions. This is the only museum of its kind in Poland, and though badly signposted (don’t be surprised to find yourself directed to blind alleys or opening secret doors to reveal private offices), it represents a rewarding experience for fans of Polish cinema. The collection features over 50,000 items including over 12,000 film posters, art exhibits and projectors and camera equipment of every kind. Standouts include the recently renovated Fotoplastikon - a giant drum-like contraption popular in the early 20th century for showing 3D films, and the excellent exhibit devoted to animated photography featuring plenty of vintage stop-motion characters and accompanying clips. The newest exhibit in the permanent collection is called Palace Full of Fairy Tales and is devoted to the heroes of Polish cult cartoon shorts and features (Moomins, Reksio).
The museum also hosts a few Oscar statues of the Oscar-awarded movies “Ida”, who won the American Academy Award for Best Foreign Film in 2015, “Afterimage”, or “Inspector Alex”.
The palace itself is a dream, featuring room upon room of delights, including the city’s first electric lift, some beautiful tiled stoves, a Turkish smoking room and many other treats besides. Built in 1856 to serve as residence for industrialist fat cat Karol Scheibler the palace contains interiors designed in Venice, Berlin and Dresden, including ceramic tiled stoves and dramatic oak panelling.
Deschis în anul 1986 în interiorul extraordinarului palat al lui Karol Scheibler din secolul al XIX-lea, Muzeul Cinematografiei oferă vizitatorilor două atracții unice. Muzeul în sine prezinta o istorie foarte bine structurata a cinematografiei poloneze precum si activitatea a numerosi cineasti polonezi care au studiat în oraș înainte de a avea realizari de exceptie in industria cinematografica. Exista de asemenea si o serie de expozitii in interiorul muzeului. Acesta este singurul muzeu de acest gen din Polonia si ofera o serie de surprize cum ar fi deschiderea unor usi secrete pentru a descoperi birouri private. Vizitarea acestui muzeu reprezintă o experiență unica pentru fanii cinematografiei poloneze si nu numai. Colecția muzeului cuprinde peste 50.000 de articole, incluzand peste 12.000 de afișe de film, exponate de artă și echipamente de filmare de diverse tipuri. Se remarca fotoplastikonul recent renovat care este o mașinărie gigantică de tip tambur, populară la începutul secolului al XX-lea, pentru prezentarea filmelor 3D și o expoziție extraordinara dedicată fotografiei animate care conține o mulțime de personaje vintage și clipuri de prezentare. Cea mai nouă expoziție din colecția permanentă este numită Palatul plin de basme și este dedicată personajelor poloneze din benzile desenate de scurt sau lung metraj cum ar fi: Moomins sau Reksio.
Muzeul găzduiește, de asemenea, câteva statuete Oscar din filmele premiate cu Oscar cum ar fi Ida, care a castigat in anul 2015 premiul Academiei Americane pentru cel mai bun film strain, Afterimage sau Inspector Alex.
