Big Fish Head Curry Tour - MALAYSIAN STREET FOOD in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia!

T-shirts and caps:
I’ve always loved curry and I’ve always loved fish heads, so fish head curry would naturally be one of my favorite foods to eat - there’s nothing not to like about digging out little bits of fish from all the crevices, while sucking up all the curry sauces.
We checking out three different fish head restaurants in Kuala Lumpur, each serving a totally different style of fish head.
Annuar's Fish Head Curry:
One of the most legendary Malaysian street food stalls in Kuala Lumpur is Annuar's Fish Head Curry, also known as the Bangsar fish head corner. Mr. Annuar is an amazing hard working man who has been selling his south Indian Muslim style fish head curry for a long time and has a loyal following. He’s also known for his affordable prices and his fried chicken. The staff were all incredible nice, and their fish head was amazing. I also especially loved the fried chicken with the fish head curry sauce on top. Mr. Annuar would not charge us for our meal, thank you!
Tugu View Cafe:
Next we went to Tugu View Cafe, an amazing local Malay food restaurant on top of a hill in the middle of Kuala Lumpur, although it felt like you were in the middle of a mountain park. They serve all sorts of Malaysian food, but their most famous dish is their Malay style fish head curry. We met the chef of the curry, and I just asked him to choose us the largest size which happened to be a 120 RM fish head! Most of the others were 45 - 65 RM! This was probably the best fish head curry for me of this entire Malaysian food fish head curry tour. The complexity of flavor and the ingredients blew me away.
Total price - 144 RM ($35)
Restoran Mun Kee Steam Fish Head:
Finally to end this fish head curry tour, we went to a Chinese restaurant. So this wasn’t actually a fish head curry, but a steamed Chinese style fish head. They gave us not only the head, but really the entire body minus the tail. It was delicious, perfectly steamed with wonderfully fragrant ginger, and it was a perfect fish to end the meal with.
Total price - 98 RM ($23.80)
This was an amazing fish head curry Malaysian food tour in Kuala Lumpur!

CHILI Crab & Noodles! Malaysia Food Tour Kuala Lumpur
Kuala Lumpur is an amazing place for anyone with an appetite, and I explored some of the top recommended spots local foodies love and live for.
Bak Kut Teh is a meat stew that is boiled for hours with herbs until it becomes tender, off-the-bone succulent. Though it may be a heavy breakfast choice for some, I thought it was a great start to our food day.
The Chili Pan Mee (dry noodles) with a fried egg, anchovies, and chilis were amazing. The noodles were al dente, chewy, and the perfect snack to add to any food itinerary!
Even now as I'm writing this description, the thought of those crabs just makes me drool! At first, I thought the black crab was cooked in black bean paste, but that wasn't the case. It is covered in a dense, shrimp paste and is incredibly flavorful. The chili crab and the salted egg crabs were equally amazing in flavor, and if you dip some bread in the sauce, perfection!

TOP 10 Must-Eats in KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia
#travelcouple #foodtour #Malaysianfood
i can't believe our time in Kl has passed by so quickly, in these 6 very short days, we have fallen in love with this colorful city, and it's people, the amalgamation of cultures is evident not only in it's architecture but in it's unique and wonderful cuisine.
The diversity of cultures has created a gastronomic symphony of flavors with a unique blend of Chinese, Indonesian and Indian influences.
Our friends, Jimmy and Tah from divert living, have put together their own video, which is awesome.
take a few moments and check their video out if you already haven't
here's our top 10 favorite foods we came across in Kuala Lumpur..
and in no particular order
#1 Roti canai is an indian influenced flat bread.. (i'm famiiar with this tasts, as it reminds me of chapatis from back home kenya.. or the indian paratha
i don't know it if was just this place, but the roti was flaky and chewy all at the same time, and so so delicious.
Restaurant Al-Ashiq
# 2 Satay.. essentially meat on a stick, lots of countries have their own take on this.. and Malaysia is no exception. This is their version of this delicious delicacy .. it can be anything from beef, chicken, goat or even tofu cooked over a wood or charcoal fire, this is usually served with a peanut and soy sauce, although each vendor may have their own special sauce.. and we found the ones we tried to be a little sweet too
Jalan Alor Night Food Court
# 3 we most certainly can not forget our banana leaf curry experience in brickfields
Restoran Sri Kortumalai
# 4 chili pan mee.. this might have gotten it's influence from china, but this is most certainly malaysian..
Tang City Food Court
# 5 the ramly burger has been sold on the streets of malaysia since 1979 It is estimated that there are over 25,000 Ramly Burger stalls nationwide, The companies aim has been developing a clean and good-quality halal Western fast-food chain in Malaysia.
seems like each vendor does it a little differently by adding their own unique spices and this guy has the burger in a yummy steamy envelope of egg
San Peng Street Burger Stall
San Peng Street Burger Stall
# 6 Cendol .. is an iced sweet dessert that contains droplets of worm-like green rice flour jelly, coconut milk and palm sugar syrup
Pavilion Kual
# 7 Nasi lemak is a Malay fragrant rice dish cooked in coconut milk and pandan leaf it is the national dish of Malaysia and a must try if you visit Malaysia.. heck even if you don't.. google your nearest Malaysian restaurant and i am sure they will have this on their menu.. we had this several time on our trip,
we even went to a food stall which was great
but we found this spot just by our airbnb which we kept coming back to because it was so good
Restaurant Al-Ashiq
# 8 start your day the tea rifik way with tea tarik...
Teh tarik (literally pulled tea) is a hot milk tea beverage
Restaurant Al-Ashiq
#9 Durian
some people love it and some people hate it.. but they say it super tasty here in maaysia, give it a try if you are in malaysia.. and if you've had the frozen kind before and don't like it .. give it another chance.. it might surprise you
or not
Jalan Alor Night Food Court
#10 Bak chang
and then we came across these little pockets of delight.. which we have come to learn are called bak chang
stall on the street in Chinatown

Street Food Malaysia - NASI KERABU + Malay Food Tour in Kelantan, Malaysia!
Watch more Malaysian food videos:

T-shirts and caps:
KELANTAN, MALAYSIA - If you’re looking for amazing Malaysian food, Kelantan is a state that’s unique, cultural, and has some of the best food in Malaysia.
During trips to Kuala Lumpur over the years, I had tried a number of Kelantanese dishes, but that only increased my desire to eventually visit the source, to visit Kelantan, Malaysia. Finally, this was our chance, and we went on a Malaysian food tour of Kelantan, around Kota Bharu.
Here’s all the amazing food we ate in this video:
Nasi Kerabu Panji - Without a doubt, one of the Malaysian foods you don’t want to miss when you visit Kelantan is nasi kerabu, rice salad, but it’s so much more than that. It’s a breakfast dish and we first started at Nasi Kerabu Panji, a local favorite spot. You get blue rice, topped with salad and side dishes, drizzled in budu fermented fish sauce, and topped with you choice of main mean. It was extraordinary.
Price - About 8 MYR ($1.96) per plate
Jijah's Nasi Kerabu - Since nasi kerabu is one of the top Malaysian foods of the state of Kelantan, we decided to have two nasi kerabu’s back to back, but totally different styles and even different colors of rice. Jijah's Nasi Kerabu specializes in grilled goat, and it was incredible, highly recommended when you visit Kelantan, Malaysia.
Price - 4.50 MYR ($1.10) per plate
Siti Khadijah Market - One of the top attractions in Kota Bharu is Siti Khadijah Market, a beautiful colorful market where you can buy all the ingredients from Kelantan and there’s also an amazing cooked food section. Laksam - 3.50 MYR ($0.86) per bowl - I had a bowl of laksam, a Kelantan Malaysian food version of laksa. Akok - 1 MYR ($0.24) for 2 - Later we also tried akok, a popular and local Kelantanese dessert.
D'Umi Nasi Ulam - Another Malaysian food you don’t want to miss eating in Kelantan is nasi ulam, rice with raw vegetables, and a mix of dishes, all eaten specifically with budu - fermented anchovy sauce. This restaurant was amazing, a huge mix of dishes, friendly owner, and delicious food. Of course, we couldn’t resist the tempoyak - fermented durian paste.
Kak Jah Ayam Percik Bulatan Lemal - Finally to end this Malaysian street food tour of Kelantan, we had some ayam percik, a coconut milk barbecue sauce dish that originates in Kelantan. We barely arrived in time, but luckily got the last few skewers.
Ayam percik - 16 MYR ($3.93) per big skewer
Kelantan is an amazing state in Malaysia to eat Malaysian street food and I thoroughly enjoyed my visit, the incredible food, and friendly people.
Thank you for watching this Malaysian food video in Kelantan. If you haven’t already, you can watch the entire series here:

Chinatown (Petaling Street) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia is a hotspot for all your Chinese food needs in Malaysia! We take you around to the best Chinese street food spots in KL!
First we started by visiting a 70 year old stall famous for selling raw fish congee. I had never tried this dish before and was unsure exactly how to eat it. However once biting into the soft fish I fell in love! This was the best dish of the day for sure! The fragrant sesame oil and ginger flavour combined with the smooth congee and subtle seafood flavour makes my mouth water writing this right now!
Address:
Hon Kee Porridge Petaling Street
93, Jalan Hang Lekir, City Centre, Kuala Lumpur
Our second stop was for some famous clam (La La) noodles! This restaurant was packed full of locals and featured many different stalls selling typical Malay Chinese food! We went straight for the famous noodle stall. The broth was incredibly rich and spicy, again with lots of ginger. Unfortunately the clams did not taste fresh at all and were full of gritty sand.
Address:
Lai Foong Lala Noodle
1953, Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock, City Centre, Kuala Lumpur
Chinatown has all kinds of history and once of the best things to do is to visit a temple! We stopped for a quick peek inside this ancient Chinese temple in the heart of Chinatown!
Address:
Sin Sze Si Ya Temple
113A, Jalan Tun H S Lee, City Centre, Kuala Lumpur
After cooling off in the temple we visited a famous shop selling soy products. We tried the tofu pudding which was served piping hot! It was sweet and delicious.
Address:
Kim Soya Bean
49, Jalan Petaling, City Centre, Kuala Lumpur
Right across the street from the soy bean shop is an old stall selling dried longan fruit juice. It tasted like plum juice.
Address:
Air Mata Kucing 羅漢果龍眼冰糖燉冬瓜
Jalan Petaling, Kuala Lumpur City Centre, Kuala Lumpur
To finish the day we went outside chinatown to visit an no named claypot chicken shop! The preparation here was awesome! All on charcoal with 14+ claypots going all at once. The owner was very friendly but the service was slow. We waited about 45 minutes while enjoying a popular lime juice. Once the claypot arrived we were again slightly disappointed do to a bitter flavour. The chicken was big and juicy but the ratio of rice to chicken was off and the rice tasted somewhat burnt.
Address:
Claypot Chicken At Kedai Kopi Pudu Satu Enam Lapan - 168 茶餐室
21, Jalan Kancil, Pudu, Kuala Lumpur
