Chakan Fort (Pune)
I Like To Travel Unknown Places and Fort's.
Chakan is about 30 kilometres (19 mi) from Pune, on NH 50 between Pune and Nashik cities. It is also on the roads that connect the Pune-Mumbai Highway to the Pune-Nashik Highway and to the Pune-Ahmednagar-Aurangabad Highway. It is about 150 kilometres (93 mi) from Mumbai, 120 kilometres (75 mi) from Ahmednagar and 175 kilometres (109 mi) from Nashik.
Chakan boasts the Sangram Durga or Bhueekot Killa, which was once the domain of Chhatrapati Shivaji. The fort is built on level ground and surrounded by the fortified walls and turrets. It differs from most Indian forts which were traditionally built on hilly, elevated land. The fort was the site of an epic 54 days of stiff resistance by the Maratha general Firangoji Narsala against Mughal Sardar Shahistekhan. The fort withstood heavy Mughal attacks until the Mughals breached the walls using high explosives. The following attack on the fort was repulsed by the Marathas. But short on supplies, Firangoji counterattacked and cut his way deep in to the Mughal encampment where he was finally subdued and captured.
The Chakreshwar temple is another site of importance. Legend has it that it is the site where King Dasharatha was battling a Rakshasa (Demon King), when the wheel of his ratha (chariot) was stuck in mud near the pond of Chakreshwar. When his wife Kaikeyi helped get the wheel unstuck, Dasharatha granted her three wishes, that eventually led to the exile of Rama and the subsequent events of the epic Ramayana.
In May, Chakan celebrates a major festival called Khandobacha Urs.
Chakan is located 30 km from Pune City on the National Highway 50, between Pune and Nashik. Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation runs frequent and extensive bus services that connect to various parts of Maharashtra state. PMPML buses connect Chakan to Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad. Highways connecting to Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad have heavy traffic due to extensive industrial growth in the area.
Chakan is also on the Pune Junction - Nashik Road railway line. The nearest airport is the current Pune International Airport.
The proposed site of a new, expanded Pune International Airport is at Shiroli and Chandus villages, about 6 km from Chakan. Phase III of the Pune Metro will connect Chakan to Moshi,[5] which hosts an International Convention and Exhibition centre.

Chakan's Bhuikot fort AK Sangarmagad is famous in the Shiv Charitra due to the firing of Narmada by Narsala for 55 consecutive days in front of the powerful Mowgli Sena. Initially, Chakan was a commercial center in Ghatmath. The Chakan bay was built to protect it. From this fort you can keep an eye on the Ghoti, Pound Mavs and Ghodner, Bhimner Ner. The present condition of this fort, which has been ancient and priceless, is very bad.
History:Chakan's Bhuikot fort is an ancient fort. After the capture of these fortresses, which witnessed many historical events, allauddin went to Khilji after the capture of the Yadavas. After that Allauddin Shah Bahamani decided to capture Ghatmatha and Konkan Patti. This performance was entrusted to Malik. He made his head at Chakan (1453). In this campaign, in order to fight Vishalgad, Sailela Shirke and More of Malik Uttajar were captured by Nayebid in a deserted place and suddenly they used to assassinate 2500 people including Malik, with an unnoticed attack. (This is the first reading of the first fight of Guinean Poetry which is readable).
Due to mismanagement among the Southern Muslims and foreign Muslims in this campaign, the southern Muslim campaign left partially and returned to Chakan. The foreign Muslims started to speak because of their cowardly and fierce attitudes that the Vishalgad campaign failed. After hearing this allegation, he told Shahah that if he knew about this, he would tell Shahah that the foreigners had captured Chakan fort and that he was with the king of Konkan. The news was given to Shah by seeing that Shahad was drunk. He ordered that attack on Chakan fort and kill all foreign Muslims. According to this command, the Southern army encircled the fort of Chakan. The foreign Muslims in the fort did not shout at the fort till the end of the fort. Eventually, the southern Muslims showed a fake command that foreign Muslims have apologized, and they brought them out of the castle and invited them to the banquet.
Amjad Shahi, the father of Shivaji Raje (Babaji), father Maloji and Gidhojis, and Dulatabad's governor, Amirsha, gave land to settle with Chakan Chauri. Later, the Chakan region was in the vicinity of ShahajiRaje. Shivaji Maharaj conquered this fort from Adilshah, then Firangoji was the Narsala fort. He expressed his loyalty to the kings and the kings appointed him as the chief officer.
On June 21, 1660, 20 thousand soldiers of Shahistakhana surrounded the Bhukot of Chakan. At that time, there were 600 to 700 Marathas in the fort, there was a lot of money and grains. Marathas used to raid the fort with guns, guns and Mughal troops at night. When the day came after the day, Shahist Khan drove the towers to the north-east basement, seeing that the fort did not fall. On August 55, 1660, on 55th day of the siege, the lights were filled with ammunition. At that time a huge explosion took place in the bastion, the Marathas on the bastion were killed. The Mowgli army tried to enter the fort from the loo but Maratha did not allow them to enter the fort. On 15th August 1660, the Mughals attacked Sick. Marathas fought under the citadel, but the strength and resources of Marathas were over. So they gave the fort to the Mughals.
Places to see:Fort of Chakan is coming in a weedy area and the fort is in ruins and many ruins are not found. Chakan fort is east to west and we enter the fort from the east. From the time of entry, we know that the security of the fort should be secure from the trench and fortification. The wall of the fort is high and stone and brick structure is found. At the right side of the entrance is the citadel. The temple of Damodar Vishnu seems to have been built along with the temple and the canopy is seen on both sides of the temple and there are three sculpted carvings in front of the temple and a mortar is seen opposite the temple, there is a mosque on its side. The temples and masciors should be built in recent times. From here there are steps to go to the bastion of the fort: From the fort to the fort, you can find the entire area of the fort. It can be estimated from the wall construction that it has tried to repair the fort using cement. Around 5 to 6 appearances are slaughtered around the walls to paint the gun. 3 bastions can be clearly seen from the wall. A cement road has been constructed due to encroachment and going through the fort due to unauthorized construction.Distance to reach:Mumbai - Talegaon - Chakan can be reached Chakan by this route. If you reach Chakan from the bus station to the right hand, if you enter the entrance entrance from the front of the English School, you will get access to the back of the fort. Chakan fort is 15 kms away from Induri Fort.

The last Marata- British war place - Chakan Fort , Pune
Chakan Fort is located at Chakan near Pune in Maharashtra. The last Maratha-British war was fought in this fort. This fort was built keeping in mind that it might become a rare kind of fort in Maharashtra. The fort is in the ageing condition, which needs lots of maintenance. One can also visit Lord Vishnu Temple in Varah Avatar near the fort. 'Varah' means pig and is the third avatar (incarnation) of Lord Vishnu, which is seen very rarely in India. These remains of the carvings are found in an ancient temple of Shri Chakreshwar, which is inside the Chakan fort. These carvings are really worth seeing.
Pune is well connected by air, rail and road to the important places within the state and also within the country. Hotels are available in Pune.
