Connect Historic Boston Bicycle Trail
A ride along the new Connect Historic Boston bicycle trail/protected bike lane along Commercial St, Causeway St, and Staniford St. Recorded on Mon May 7, 2018 at 7 pm.
Ride Boston's New Connect Historic Boston Bike Trail
Protected bike lanes are becoming less rare in many U.S. cities and I got to ride a fine new one in the City of Boston. Called the Connect Historic Boston Bike Trail, it is the beginning segment - about two miles so far - of a longer loop that plans to circle the downtown area.
The idea was to connect historic Boston places via a safe bike route that not only commuters could use to get about, but also visitors or residents wanting to further explore the city.
The segment features a lot of good design practices. Where it intersects with driveways or parking lots the drivers are slowed by having to meet the bike lane which has been raised to the level of the sidewalk. It also features ample #freshkermit (that's green paint) in areas to highlight possible conflict areas between motorists and cyclists. Additionally, some intersections have been built with some protection. And some environmentally friendly bits as well: permeable pavement and a bioswale.
There's one section here tha'ts center running - which, yes, always has its critics - but in this case it makes much more sense to put riders away from crowded sidewalks at North Station/TD Garden. I'd much rather ride in the freedom of the center versus contending with pedestrians and cars. Just imagine this scenario averted.
Big thanks to the good transportation folks from the City of Boston who came out to meet me after work with little notice to take a one hour excursion with Streetfilms!

Biking Boston | Somerville Community Bike Path to Alewife via Davis Square and Cambridge Linear Park
Starting at Lowell Street in Somerville (construction of new Green Line extension station seen here) to and through Davis Square, then onward onto Cambridge Linear Park to Alewife Station. At this point the path meets with the Minuteman Bike Path, which runs about 10 miles westward to Bedford.

2018 August 31_ Charles River bike path
Charles River bike path holds baby strollers , bikes , joggers, pedestrians, wheel chairs, etc... its fantastic, but dangerous: All one narrow lane each way that squeezes through underpasses.. all while getting carcinogenic exhaust from 3 lanes of traffic blown on it. @boston: let's give 1-2 lanes from storrow to nonmotorists?
Three Bicycle Trails ~ Cape Cod Massachusetts
We had a blast riding our Mountain Bikes on our vacation down at Cape Cod.
We explored three different Bike Trails.
September 20, 2016 we rode our bikes on the Old Colony Rail Trail and the CCRT - Cape Cod Rail Trail starting in Harwich down to Nickerson State Park in Brewster. It poured on us. We do not have rain gear for our bikes. We made the best of it. The trails were paved in a wooded area. We saw Cranberry bogs and ponds..it was a great ride. Nickerson State Park had some huge hills to ride up and down. It was difficult for me,, I had to walk my bike up a few hills. This was a 21 mile bike ride,, the longest one I have done since getting my Mountain Bike Mid June 2016.
September 22, 2016 we rode our bikes on the Province Lands Bicycle Trail. We parked at the Provincetown Visitor Center. I absolutely loved this Bike Trail. You ride on a paved trail through the Sand Dunes.. WOW what a fun and beautiful bike ride. We rode out to Herring Cove, Race Point and Bennett Pond. It is marked as a Challenging Bike Path,, and it was. We rode 12 miles.
September 23, 2016 we rode our bikes on the Head of the Meadows Bicycle Trail. The trails are paved but very bumpy. It was a pretty ride but short.. only 2 miles out and 2 miles back.
We had a great time biking on Cape Cod.

Minuteman Bike Trail- Camden to Cambridge Mass
Come bike the famous MinuteMan bike Trail 24 miles round-trip trail through an enchanted forest starting in Camden Massachusetts taking you through Cambridge, Massachusetts
Biking to Downtown Boston!
Biking from Dorchester to Downtown Boston!
Where will you find the best bike paths in Mass?
Not in Worcester. Over the past year or so I've seen more and more bikes painted on the road. As an experienced motorest, pedestrian, and cyclest I can say with authority that pianting a bike in the middle of the road does not a bike path make.
Episode 4: Minuteman Commuter Bikeway & Charles River
We took a weekend to ride from Bedford, MA to Cambridge then along the Charles River. Stayed the night at Royal Sonesta that is in the middle of so many great places. The next day we crossed the Charles and rode the other side back to Cambridge.
All in, we rode 41 miles in 2 days, which was a record for us! We are getting stronger! It helped not pulling a trailer full of stuff! Plus the bike paths around Boston are extremely nice and well maintained! The only problem is people being dangerous (high speeds, passing with no room, not notifying people they are there...)
We really appreciate the music from these folks! It is really great work!

An Aimless Ride Through Boston virtual cycling
No audio. Despite growing up 30 miles from it I've never really rode around Boston much. I did the marathon bike ride which was pretty straight forward (follow the other 500 people). I think if I have stops in mind and a slightly pre-planned route I can get a better video for my subscribers, but this was fun for what it was. To the cyclists who ride in Boston every day and can point out some of the mistakes I may have made while riding I apologize. I can't always tell what's considered a sidewalk and what's considered a trail. And that part at 15:00? Totally not recommending that. Also I asked a couple of people more familiar with the area and they said the Idaho stops were not only fine but that they originally started with Boston drivers. Technically this video starts in Cambridge at the Middle East, Boston doesn't happen till I cross the first bridge. Enjoy.

No audio. Still getting used to the GeekPro. Battery died and I ended up missing maybe a mile or so meaning the Strava doesn't totally match up with the video. Overall though this one came out a little better. Starts at Norumbega Tower and follows the river to where they're starting work on a new trail on the north side. Getting used to editing on YouTube. Let me know what you think, especially if you're familiar with the area.

Deep Freeze at the Blackstone Gorge ~ Rolling Dam ~ Bitter Cold Massachusetts 2018
The past week we have had dangerously freezing cold temperatures here in Massachusetts. Chris and I decided to bundle up and head on over to the Blackstone Gorge to see the ice along the Blackstone River. This was Sunday January 7, 2018.
It was -8* when we woke this morning and got to 3* when we went for our walk, bitter cold. Even thou it was freezing it was so invigorating. We didn't take our normal long walk. We only stayed for 45 minutes. I was so glad we got out for a little while.
There is something so tranquil and peaceful walking in the snow along the frozen River. We had the whole place to ourselves.
