US Naval Weapons' Marrington Plantation Trail, Charleston, SC 3-2-19
Here are some clips from my ride. It was a nice warm morning and the reptiles were out enjoying the weather. I rode a full lap at 17 miles and my camera was pointed down the whole time! I had to go out and ride another 13 to get some good footage.
A Bicycle Tour of Downtown Charleston, South Carolina
Rode across the Ravenell bridge and toured Historic Charleston.
Charleston SC - Ravenel Bridge - Things to Do - Traveler TV
Welcome to another edition of Traveler TV! Today we’re at the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge located here (show map overlay with pinpoint). It opened in 2005 and is currently the longest cable-stayed bridge in the Western hemisphere.
The design features two diamond shaped towers that spans the Cooper River and connect downtown Charleston with Mount Pleasant via US Hwy 17. It is named after former congressman Arthur Ravenel Jr., who helped raise funds for the project.
At a cost of $541 million, the length of the bridge is 13,200 feet, 575 feet tall and has room for 8 lanes of traffic.
The bicycle and pedistrian path provides unparalled views of the harbor, is the perfect spot to catch a sunrise or sunset, and is highly recommend! To walk or bike the bridge, you can park on either the downtown side here (shows map), or on the Mount Pleasant side at Memorial Waterfront Park (show map).

ALL OF US Resource Center Tour - We Are Family - Charleston SC
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!! Please watch, listen and reach out to We Are Family the dream is realized.... now to work the day to day operations and YOU are needed... waf.org
Text from
A daytime resource center to help Charleston residents struggling with homelessness is up and running.
The All of Us Resource Center, housed in a former Head Start Center at 529 Meeting St., provides a computer lab, legal advice, laundry, showers, career training, a medical clinic with tele-health capabilities and other services.
Its partners include the YWCA Greater Charleston and the MUSC Family Medicine - Medical University of South Carolina's Department of Family Medicine.
The center will open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The center will provide a one-stop shop for residents of Charleston struggling with housing insecurity.
Mayor John Tecklenburg said Thursday the city's Commission on Homelessness and Affordable Housing has explored how to serve those in need, especially after the 2016 relocation of residents in the encampment known as Tent City.
The city pays for the center's utilities, including electricity, and leased the property from its owner, Hal Kaplan, for $1 a year.
I knew it was going to be empty for a while, and I just kind of took a chance, Tecklenburg said. To my surprise, he was so gracious and he immediately said 'yes.'
The center was built in less than a month thanks to donated supplies and services.
Melissa Moore, executive director of the nonprofit We Are Family, which will run much of the center's programming, said the opening was a dream come true. She thanked the clients who voted on the center's name, the mayor and City Council and others who helped make it happen.
Some people even volunteered their time to work over Memorial Day weekend.
Everyone says millennials are lazy, Moore joked. I don't believe it.
Some services offered, such as showers and laundry, are ones many people take for granted and are necessary to give people a sense of dignity, said LaVanda R Brown, executive director of the YWCA of Greater Charleston.
This center is going to restore that confidence, Brown said. This center is going to restore that dignity.
The entire technology lab, which included 10 desktop computers and 10 laptops with internet, was provided by Google. Lilyn Hester, Google's head of southeast external affairs, said the company also is working on installing vinyl flooring for the technology lab.
The city has a full-time employee doing street outreach who can refer those struggling with housing insecurity to the center. It is open to all Charleston residents struggling with food or housing problems.

You can actually book Kirk’s services through Zero George’s Photography Package, which gives you a choice between a 3 or 5-hour session to explore the city like a local--and give you Instagram feed some major street cred.

Roll or Stroll To Charleston’s Top Attractions
Millions of tourists flock to Charleston every year to admire its old architecture and learn about it’s history. Not you guys, you’re here to party… and maybe pass some cool looking buildings as you walk from bar to bar. However, If you want to have the full Charleston experience, I do recommend a leisurely stroll- or better yet a breezy “roll” to some of Charleston top attractions.
Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge
King Street, the Market
Waterfront or Riverfront Park Charleston SC
Rainbow Row
The Charleston Battery Park
Charleston Aquarium
Go on a Scavenger Hunt
Charleston SC Walking Tours
You’re coming to town for a bachelorette party, so obviously you should look into the more PG-13 rated walking tours… The tours listed below will take you down intriguing routes, and you’ll learn about the darker side of Charleston’s scandalous past.
Walk and Talk Charleston - highly recommended!
Charleston Haunted Tours
Charleston Pirate Tours
Charleston Culinary Tours
Bike Rentals Charleston SC
In my opinion, biking is the best way to get around downtown Charleston in the day time, you can cover so much more ground on a bike! Also, it’s hawt’’ as hell in the summer time, (not in a good way) so that’s why I prefer biking to walking- you can beat the sweltering heat, or at least minimize the amount of time you subject yourself to it… So take yourselves on a bicycle tour of downtown Charleston, or cruise around at the beach. Stay tuned for recommended bike routes that I will publish soon!

GO HYDROBOARDING WITH CHARLESTON HYDROFLY
This is one of my top choices for things to do for a Charleston, SC bachelorette party! It’s a great way to spend the day. Hydrofly Watersports is located on the Ashley River/Brittlebank Park- which is right downtown, so it’s super easy to get to if you’re staying there. There’s a little floating Tiki Hut with lots of floats and water toys so you and your friends can kick it while you take turns getting your lesson and flying around. It’s a blast!
