SUMMARY
=======
Delaware ( (listen)) is one of the 50 states of the United States, in the Mid-Atlantic or Northeastern region. It is bordered to the south and west by Maryland, to the north by Pennsylvania, and to the east by New Jersey and the Atlantic Ocean. The state takes its name from Thomas West, 3rd Baron De La Warr, an English nobleman and Virginia's first colonial governor.Delaware occupies the northeastern portion of the Delmarva Peninsula. It is the second smallest and sixth least populous state, but the sixth most densely populated. Delaware's largest city is Wilmington. The state is divided into three counties, the lowest number of any state. From north to south, they are New Castle County, Kent County, and Sussex County. While the southern two counties have historically been predominantly agricultural, New Castle County is more industrialized.
Before its coastline was explored by Europeans in the 16th century, Delaware was inhabited by several groups of Native Americans, including the Lenape in the north and Nanticoke in the south. It was initially colonized by Dutch traders at Zwaanendael, near the present town of Lewes, in 1631. Delaware was one of the 13 colonies participating in the American Revolution. On December 7, 1787, Delaware became the first state to ratify the Constitution of the United States, and has since been known as The First State.

December 19, 2019 New Jersey/Delaware Bay Fishing Report with Jim Hutchinson, Jr.
Weekly fishing reports at
The Mid Atlantic Fishery Management Council and Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission voted last week to reduce the recreational bag limit for bluefish in 2020, three fish for private and shore-based anglers, and five fish for those fishing on for-hire boats, charter or party. As the late John Geiser remarked in his eponymously named Geiser’s Guide To Saltwater Fishing published 20 years ago, “Scientists are still at a loss for explaining the cycles of scarcity and plenty that marked the bluefish fishery from the 19th century until the 1950’s.” Pick up the January NJ/DE Bay edition of The Fisherman during the first of the year for more on the bluefish decision.
This week’s video forecast at the Jersey Shore also looks at the weekend weather forecast that should prove ideal for bottomfishing this Saturday and Sunday. Sea bass are anywhere from 40 to 60 miles offshore heading into the final weekend before Christmas, while big blackfish are on the prowl nearer shore on the wrecks and reefs inside 10 miles. At least one keeper striped bass “reported” in the wash this week, and with herring around there could be a few more teen-sized stripers in the mix with those December shorts. A couple of last-minute holiday gift ideas too, including information how to invest in 2020 satellite tags for the ongoing Northeast Striped Bass Study at The Fisherman.

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio while you are sleeping! If you are planning to listen a lot, you could try using a bone conduction headphone, or a standard speaker instead of an earphone.

SUMMARY
=======
The National Canal Museum
A project from Northampton Community College's portable video class.
This video features the National Canal Museum in Easton, Pennsylvania. The Lehigh Valley was America's center for early Industrial development. With easy access to coal and iron ore, the Lehigh and Delaware Canals made it possible to deliver raw and finished materials to a developing nation.
The Canal Museum takes an interactive approach to telling the story of Pennsylvania's famous navigation. For adults, there are interpretive tours, photos, and artifacts from the canal era. For children, there are hands-on exhibits that not only teach history, but also explain the science of how canals work.
The Museum features a 45 minute boat ride pulled by a team of 2 mules where costumed interpreters tell the story of the canal, and where visitors can also see the many animals that call the canal home, and if they are lucky a freight train on the mainline railroad that parallels the canal.

Maryland Day Trip 3-31-2007
A brief day trip to Maryland, near DC and the Potomac River. We walked to Great Falls MD, and also saw some of the locks on the C&O Canal.
EP 1: The Oxford Railway in Ridgely Maryland
Ridegly, MD , the historic town has one served a railroad line, the Delaware and Chesapeake RR. Back in the 1900's service was active on this 35 mile stretch of line.
Rail service came to this town back in the Early 1900's. And by 1990's it was declared abandoned . But it has not been officially considered abandoned.
This line is rail banked and is there for possible future use, but has never got done. And the Rail line sits waiting for 'love'
Comment from Shorliner68:
I remember going to Ocean City back in the 1960s and crossing this track going into Easton on US50. It was still being used though I never had a chance to catch a train running on the line. I did some exploring later in the early 1970s and saw a boxcar on a siding in Queenstown. The Queenstown to Denton branch connected at Queen Anne and still had an active customer in Denton as well that received covered hoppers. Sad to see the branch eventually die. Main reason a lot of the rail is still there is because the line was railbanked by the state for many years with the possibility of future revival for any industry that might want to use rail service again, but none ever materialized.
The line was going to get rail serviced, but however, it never happened. It is listed Rail-Banked Under MDOT Standards.
We will see a part 2 later in the spring time of 2017.
