ROAD TRIP TO ITALY / TUSCANY II PART (Florence, Lucca, Chianti, Pisa, San Gimignano, Viareggio)
This is the second part of our Italian road trip..
We have been in 12 citys during 10 days. Italy is unbelievable, its nature, climate, food, people, culture.. We hope these series of vlogs will help you to make some road trip arrangements and will give you little hints :)
PART I
4 DAYS IN TUSCANY: Florence, Siena, Chianti Wine Tasting, and more!
Tuscany was our second stop in our 20-day babymoon in Italy! We used Siena and Florence as our base for travel to the surrounding countryside. From Siena, we joined a small group tour and visited Monterrigioni, San Gimignano, and Volterra. From Florence, we joined a wine tasting tour that took us to wineries of both Florentine and Sienese Chianti Classico wines and to the small towns of Greve and Castellina. Tuscany was gorgeous!

Road Tripping Through Tuscany
From the Etruscans to the Romans to the Renaissance, Tuscany is possibly the greatest repository of art in the world, from extraordinary paintings and sculpture to frescoes and architectural masterpieces.
Visitors to Tuscany come for many reasons. Our Tuscan adventure began in the Chianti region starting with Greve in Chianti, supposedly one of the main attractions in the area. To our dismay Greve was rather uneventful, and lacked the typical medieval Tuscan feel that we were hoping for.

Florence and our Chianti Cycle Wine Tour
We weren't really planning on spending much time in Florence. Wasn't it just another big city? What was the advantage for us to stop off to see a populated city?
Between Siena and Florence, we had a stop off at the quaint and beautiful Montefioralle to wander the little alleyways and lanes. We also gazed in awe of the panoramic countryside from way up on the hill next to the ancient castle.
Well, one of the bonuses to staying in Florence is that it is in the Chianti region. We don't usually do guided tours, so when we do, it has to be worth the money. It also has to be an experience that is quintessential to a particular region. Something that we consider a 'must do'. I couldn't think of any better reason for booking ourselves onto a cycling Wine Tour through the Chianti countryside.
We saw all the important tourist attractions (thanks to Rick Steves Audio Walking Guide) which included The Accademia: Michelangelo's David.
Our Wine Cycling tour was with Ibiketuscany:
Our B&B was perfectly located and walkable distance to the city sights.
Casal Dei Cento Acri
If you have to drive in Florence, watch out for many ZLT zones and don't get caught by driving through one. It is much safer and easier to park at the Villa Costanza Car Park and it's an easy tram ride into the heart of the city.

Today was our first full day driving around the Tuscan countryside, and it was spent with some incredible friends! The four of us took in some unbelievable scenery, a super tasty antipasti lunch, and the world's best gelato, as we hopped from hill town to hill town north of Siena. This was quite possibly our favorite day in Italy!
