City Chess City Chess New Vasyuki built in Kalmykia blessed in 1998 for XXXIII World Chess Olympiad. The idea of creating a chess of New Vasyuki belongs to Ostap Bender, a well-known literary hero of Russia.

For the series Europe to The Maxx Euromaxx reporter Hendrik Welling has made his way to the southeasternmost part of Europe.

Elista,Kalmykia - Buddhism Capital of Europe
Elista is the Capital of the Kalmyk Republic and is considered the Chess Capital of the World and the Only Buddhism Capital of Europe and Western Russia.
Elista is a Multiethnic City and Majority of the Populations the Kalmyks are descendants of the Oirats and other Mongol Tribes during Genghis Khan that settled near Southern Volga. During the Russian Empire, Kalmyks joined the Russian Army and with the Cossacks.

And so, everyone in this republic where poverty and corruption rule, must learn to play chess. Furthermore, Jelle discovers the intriguing story of Nina who was abused in Moscow by two skinheads.
