The architectural complex of Trepponti, also known as Ponte Pallotta, is the most famous bridge in Comacchio and its most representative monument. It is located along the ancient waterway Pallotta leading to the Adriatic Sea and was the fortified gate of the city.
It was built in 1638 at the behest of the cardinal legate Giovanni Battista Maria Pallotta and the task was entrusted to the architect Luca Danese Ravenna, engaged in the same years in a more general work of urban redevelopment of Comacchio, which for decades had been abandoned by the Este to Venetian raids. Was erected by Giovanni Pietro da Lugano cappuccino and consists of five broad steps in brick culminating in a rise in Istrian stone. Below his single arc ends the waterway Pallotta which is distributed within the town center to form four different channels called Salaria, Saint Augustine, Borgo and St. Peter's. Over the centuries, the building suffered several interventions to change its attitude, especially of aesthetic value, witnessed by the addition of the two guard towers on top of two flights of stairs and back of the six pillars located at the top of the three front steps.
Near the Trepponti is also another bridge Luca Danese, called Bridge of the cops by virtue of its proximity to the ancient city jails. The symbol of Comacchio is the architectural complex of Trepponti. Created in 1634 by the architect Luca Danesi, consists of five large staircases (three front and two rear), culminating in a plan in stone d ' Istria. The Duomo di Comacchio, dedicated to San Cassiano, dating from the eighth century AD, included, originally three naves, but now has a single nave with twelve side chapels. At his side stands the bell tower.
The bridges are the most important element of the historic center of Comacchio, as the old town was built on small islands connected to each other. In addition to Trepponti, another notable bridge is the seventeenth century 'Bridge of the cops.
The nineteenth-century Palazzo Bellini houses the Gallery of Contemporary Art, the Historical Archive, the library, and the offices of the Directorate of cultural institutions. The Roman Ship Museum is home to the wreck of a merchant ship of the imperial era, resurfaced in 1981, during the drainage of a canal. The ship, in excellent condition, still contained the whole load (amphorae with food, lead ingots, some votive shrines lead). The entire load as well as equipment and clothing of the crew are on display in the museum, along with a reconstruction of the ship.
Among the many historic buildings of Comacchio include: the monasteries of Santa Maria in Padovetere (in Valle Pega) and Santa Maria in Aula Regia (X century), the Clock Tower (XIV century), the Loggia dei Mercanti or Wheat, or the Church of the Intercession of the Fallen (1644), the old Ospedale San Camillo, and the Loggia dei Cappuccini, consisting of 142 arches supported by four columns of marble and over 400 feet long.
The Visitor Center of the Parco del Delta del Po organizes excursions in the Valli di Comacchio, to show the ancient practices of management of the valley, peach and marinated eel and acquadelle, and combating illegal fishing. Within the Manufacture of Pickled see the ancient fireplaces, fast for acquadelle, locals, and tools for the processing and storage of fish.
It is located in the center of the lagoon of Valli di Comacchio, right at the mouth of the river Reno. It is built on 13 islands connected by bridges. The main sources are industrial fishery which belongs to the municipality, and salt. The seaport of Porto Garibaldi is located 7 kilometers east of Comacchio.
A bridge is a structure to span obstacles in traffic. In the form of green bridges they can also wild animals the crossing of busy roads allow. The information to be exciting obstacles are natural kinds (such as rivers, straits, canyons ) or man-made (such as highways, railways or waterways ).
Stone bridges are bridges where not only the bridge piers, as is the case with iron or wooden bridges, but also the superstructure is made of stone. Had early stone used as bridge material, first with unprocessed and later with cut stones. The first stone bridges were Kragbogen executed and then with advancing technology as a true arch bridges.

Comacchio - the little Venice | Family Fun Trip Lagoon Town Highlights | Italy 2016 | Kate Claudia
***********
Where it is:
3 km from the northern coast of Emilia-Romagna in the Po Delta, 50 km from Ferrara, 35 km from Ravenna, 110 km from Venice.
***********
Why visit:
Comacchio, the little Venice, is an enchanting lagoon town: it's neat and unfeigned, endowed with a vitality that comes from a strong respect for its own history and for the environment that surrounds it. The limpid brightness of the light reminds us that we are close to the sea here, and this light goes on to flood the town, only to be increased by the calm surfaces of the canals. A treasure chest of particular natural beauty and reminders of its history, Comacchio, now known as the capital of the Po Delta Park, is a little town that was born and still lives between the land and the water.
Its seven beaches are an ideal destination for spending a holiday with family or friends, or for a relaxing weekend resting in the sun or partying through the lively lido nights.
***********
Where to visit and what to see
The best period for visiting Comacchio runs from April to mid-October. In particular, for those who love the tastes of the sea, the first two weekends of October host a food festival based on the eel, with tastings and shows in the street.
The best views in town are from the Ponte degli Sbirri: on one side the historic Ospedale degli Infermi and on the other the 19th century Palazzo Bellini and the famous Trepponti, the symbol of Comacchio.
From the Loggiato dei Cappuccini, which leads to the church of Santa Maria in Aula Regia, you can access the historic Manifattura dei Marinati, the pickling works, completely restored into full working order; visit the “Sala dei fuochi” with its 12 stoves, where the eels are roasted on spits before being marinated. The graceful 17th century Fish Market attests to more seaborne activity, and it still sells the daily catch.
Important historic buildings also include the ancient Cathedral of San Cassiano, the Loggia del Grano, and the Clock Tower.
For lovers of archaeology, the rare and extensive finds from a ship that ran aground not far from the town in the time of Augustus Caesar are housed at the Roman Ship Museum in Palazzo Bellini.
In the late afternoon, when the sunset paints extraordinary colours, the nature reserve of the Comacchio lagoons - south of the old town - is a fascinating environment. A trip into history by motorboat allows you to feel the atmosphere of the lagoon with its 'casoni' (fishing huts) and 'tabarre' (stores/workshops), the fishing equipment, and marvellous vegetation. Bird watching is a particularly attractive activity here.
***********
Don't miss:
You mustn't leave without having walked along the loggia, the Loggiato dei Cappuccini, the longest in Italy, or without making a trip by boat or bike into the Comacchio lagoon.
This town on the water can also be visited by boat, more specifically with the traditional “batane”: a free service is offered by volunteers whose moorings are around the Trepponti.

Places to see in ( Asti - Italy ) Torre Troyana
Places to see in ( Asti - Italy ) Torre Troyana
The Troyana Tower or Clock Tower , is one of the architectural symbols of the city of Asti . Located next to the Palazzo Ducale or the Governor, overlooking Piazza Medici, in the Rione San Secondo , it is included among the structures that make up the mosaic of the Castelli Aperti of Lower Piedmont. In the nineteenth century the tower bell marked the hours and the retreat for the night. It was also the sign of the opening of the schools. In more remote times, it signaled the closure of the shops and the punishments that were imposed on the public square.
It is a tower with a square base of 5,90 meters on each side, with a closed and smooth barrel, ending with three bands bounded by stone frames, on each side of which large mullioned windows open. Finish with a Ghibelline dovetail battlement and above it a metal pinnacle to cover the still working clock .
The foundation of the basal part took place between the end of the twelfth century and the beginnings of the next, according to the types of construction typical of the period; we do not know who the ancient owners were, most likely exponents of the ancient consular patrician increasingly undermined by the new ruling class of the city, which based its wealth on international trade, exchange and loan. It was in the first half of the thirteenth century that the Troya family , rich line of bankers, took over the still incomplete tower: around 1250 it began the construction of the three mullioned windows, and in a period of a little later (between 1260 and 1280 ) the completed with the sumptuous crenellated crowning to protrude.
The Incisa states that in 1420 the Asinari , who had become its owners, gave it to the Municipality of Asti, with the obligation to install the watch. In reality it is certain that in the second half of the fourteenth century the tower and the relevant Troy were incorporated into the new great palace where the dukes of Orleans, new lords of the City, established the seat of the Governors of Asti and its state. In 1422 Filippo Maria Visconti , as regent of the Asti County, transferred the residence of the Governors to the new castle of the citadel, and assigned the use of the palace to the Municipality, in which the headquarters of the Council of Credence and of the administrative offices were immediately transferred. Since then the Troyana tower became a civic tower: the existing clock was installed in the former municipal tower of Piazza San Secondo (then collapsed in 1680 ), and in 1470 to protect its mechanisms from the weather, the mullioned windows were closed and the top covered with the current sloping roof and with the bell-shaped spire. The public use of the tower remained even after the municipal office was relocated; in 1560 Emanuele Filiberto di Savoia, Count of Asti, gave her definitively to the City, which remained uninterrupted owner. In 1905 , the tower underwent its first restoration, with the reopening of the mullioned windows and the consolidation of the walls.
Although the presence of a bell in the tower dates back to the early fifteenth century , the current bell of the sixteenth century , is among the oldest in Piedmont and the oldest among those that still carry out the activity of marking the hours of the day. Only the bell of the church of San Giorgio di Chieri (now however museumized) is older, going back to 1452 - 1455 .

Firenze Lungarno Torrigiani - Restoration project of the collapsed historical wall
On 25 May 2016 a collapse caused the displacement of the River Arno embankment wall in the stretch of Lungarno Torrigiani that goes from Ponte alle Grazie to Ponte Vecchio in Florence.
Owing to the need to complete the restoration of the bank protection wall before the beginning of the winter and therefore prevent the risk due to possible flooding of the Arno, the client had to enact an “urgency” procedure to allocate the work to Trevi.
The interaction between client, municipal coordination unit, planners, consultants and contractor (Trevi), which proved to be determining in the race against time, led to the identification of a planning solution involving the realization of an autonomous statically and hydraulically functional structure at the back of the existing wall capable of completely replacing the damaged riverbank wall. At the same time the wall was consolidated and restored.
The main activities included a consolidation by means of “rigid inclusions”, the consolidation of the damaged wall by laying a support frame of raked micropiles, self-drilling rods injected with cement grout to re-compact the loose soil beneath the foundations, and grouting and plastering to repair the damage. After that two retaining walls of piles were built, linked at the top by a grid of beams to form a rigid frame. An additional retaining wall of micropiles to support the frame in the cusp area, that is the most deformed portion of the wall, was built in correspondence to the old wall foundations consisting of wooden poles.
Lastly, vertical facing was inserted alongside the old wall to retain the soil added to restore the Lungarno Torrigiani road surface.

Places to see in ( Ferrara - Italy ) Cimitero della Certosa
San Cristoforo alla Certosa also called the Certosa di Ferrara is a Renaissance style, former Roman Catholic, Carthusian order church and cloistered monastery, now cemetery site, located on Piazza Borso 50 in Ferrara, Region of Emilia-Romagna, Italy. In 1452, the Duke Borso d'Este patronized the construction of a Charterhouse or Certosa in Ferrara. As was usual for the eremitic, cloistered institutions, it was erected outside the city walls, but with construction of new walls, with the Addizione Erculea, it was enclosed in the city.
In 1498, a new church was built and dedicated to San Cristoforo, and it soon was enveloped by the cloistered monastery. The layout is that of a Latin cross with six lateral chapels. The project is attributed to Biagio Rossetti. The facade, remaining incomplete, was decorated in 1769 with a marble portal sculpted by Pietro Puttini, and angels by Francesco Zoppi, with designs by Gaetano Barbieri. The lateral altars were decorated by Nicolò Roselli, and held an altarpiece (1570) by Bastianino.
In the late 1700s, after the Napoleonic suppression, the monastery and church were closed and became property of the city. The church was reconsecrated in 1813. The adjacent grounds, like those of the Certosa of Bologna, were converted to a main public cemetery (Cimitero Cittadino) by architect Ferdinando Canonici, razing the old church and part of the cloister. The grounds contain a Jewish cemetery. The Cemetery also has a memorial statue to Leopoldo Cicognara by Antonio Canova. Aerial bombing in 1944, during the Second World War, damaged the apse, choir, bell tower and right flank of the church. The restorations were still incomplete, when the 2012 earthquake further damaged the foundations, limiting it use.

Venice, the capital of northern Italy’s Veneto region, is built on more than 100 small islands in a lagoon in the Adriatic Sea. It has no roads, just canals – including the Grand Canal thoroughfare – lined with Renaissance and Gothic palaces. The central square, Piazza San Marco, contains St. Mark’s Basilica, which is tiled with Byzantine mosaics, and the Campanile bell tower offering views of the city’s red roofs.

L'interno, a tre
a tutto sesto.
