[Wikipedia] Biddeford Pool
Biddeford Pool is a large tidal pool, located off Saco Bay south of the mouth of the Saco River on the south coast of Maine. It is approximately 6 miles southeast of downtown Biddeford, to which it is connected via State Route 208. The town of Kennebunkport is 3 miles southwest, connected via State Route 9.
Biddeford Pool is the site of Maine's first recorded permanent settlement, then called Winter Harbor (not to be confused with present-day Winter Harbor, Maine). In the winter of 1616-1617, Richard Vines, a physician, resided here as part of the colonization efforts of Sir Ferdinando Gorges, lord proprietor of Maine. An early village developed on the north side. In 1688, Fort Mary was built near the pool's entrance. The former Fletcher's Neck Lifesaving Station, closed in 1971 and on the National Register of Historic Places, still stands at Ocean Avenue and Fourth Street.During World War II the Biddeford Pool Military Reservation was established from 1941 to 1945, on what is now the Abenakee Golf Club. It had four circular concrete platforms called Panama mounts for 155 mm guns, three of which remain today. From December 1941 to 12 February 1943 it was garrisoned by Battery F of the 240th Coast Artillery of the Maine National Guard; this unit was then relieved by Battery E of the 22nd Coast Artillery, which departed in October 1943; it is unclear what unit was at the site after that time. The small harbor hosts both vacationers and lobstermen. Its water level fluctuates from a large navigable body during high tide to mostly mudflats during low tide. The only exception is the deep mouth, where a gut is located which is naturally dredged by tidal current. It is locally known as The Gut. Consequently, this is the area where most boats are moored. Wood Island Light is located about a mile offshore to the northeast. Biddeford Pool is bounded by the mainland to the south and west, by Hills Beach to the north, and by East Point to the east. The area is a popular summer destination for visitors from as far south as Florida and as far west as California. The pool is surrounded by tall grass salt marshes that are home to a variety of birds and other wildlife. East Point Sanctuary, maintained by the Maine Audubon Society, is considered to be one of the premier birding spots on the northeast coast. Mile Strech Road, a sandy strip of beach which connects the neighborhood of Biddeford Pool to the mainland, is a notable tombolo.Points of interest around Biddeford Pool include the Biddeford coastal neighborhoods of Hills Beach, Fortune's Rocks, and Granite Point; and the Kennebunkport coastal area of Goose Rocks.

3 Tips for traveling up the East Coast with your RV
Our Blog post
The summer of 2017, we took our 40' 5th wheel up the East Coast starting in central Florida mid-March, traveling all the way north to Maine. We zig zagged up the coast, making it inland as far west as Tennessee and Kentucky. Along the way we learned a lot more about traveling in a RV, and thought about things we could share with other travelers thinking about making a similar trip.
Here are 3 Tips for traveling the East Coast in an RV
1. Plan ahead, but be flexible in your planning.
2. Take a good look at your budget and add 15% to 20%!
3. Route Planning
Although we didn't see as much as we would have liked, we had a great time exploring the East Coast. There are definitely things we will do differently next time, and things we will do exactly the same. The east coast is rich in American History, and can't wait to explore it more.

Top 10 Best Places to Visit in Maine
Top 10 Best Places to Visit in Maine
Located in the easternmost part of New England, Maine is bordered by Canada to the north and the Atlantic Ocean on both the east and south. Maine accounts for almost half of New England’s entire land area. Its northern reaches, known as The Great North Woods, are largely pristine wilderness while the coastal regions, supported over the years by fishing and tourism, are more heavily populated.
While the state is most frequently known for its rugged coastline and proliferation of lighthouses, Maine also has much more to offer. Here, visitors will discover national parks with boundless wildlife as the Thunder Hole. Charming historic towns, perfect examples of quaint little fishing villages, as Bass Harbor, located on Mount Desert Island - home of a large portion of Acadia National Park.

Bike Ride To Bar Harbor, Maine
Beautiful ride up the coastal route of Maine. Through Boothbay and up to Bar Harbor. Cruised around Arcadia National Park and up Cadillac Mountain. They say that you'll be the 1st to see a sunrise in the US if you're standing on this mountain in the morning. If you're ever in Boothbay, be sure to have lunch/dinner at the Lobster Dock. Wonderful sea food with great views!
Coastal Maine: US 1, ME 3 Bar Harbor, Ellsworth, Penobscot Bridge
Leaving Acadia National Park, this drive first passes through downtown Bar Harbor, then exits Mount Desert Island on Maine Route 3. It passes through Ellsworth, where 3 meets up with US 1 for the trip west and south. The video ends after crossing the Penobscot Narrows Bridge near Bucksport.
How to avoid traffic at Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor Maine
My Beautiful Bride and I were privileged to be in Maine for some concert opportunity's. While we were there we decided to take a day and drive too the coast. We could see in our Waze app that Cadilac Mountain and all surrounding roads were jammed packed with tourist. We looked on the map and found a small and secluded part of Acadia National Park that few people go to. We read the reviews and everyone said that it was incredible and now we can put our stamp of agreement on it! I would recommend it to anyone! I hope you enjoy this episode and all the beauty it entails!

✩OUR STORY: Backroads of Montana. Watch Video here:
I'm originally from Fier, Albania. I grew up in Roskovec until I finished the 8th grade and then immigrated to Italy on my own to look for work opportunities. I ended up being taken in by a school for boys without families, Fondazione il Faro, in Rome. There, they tried to integrate us into the community by teaching us the Italian language as well as giving us technical skills like making pizza, cutting hair, carpentry and computer programming. After a year at the school, I found my first job as a waiter in a vegetarian restaurant. The work was challenging and I loved it. I waited tables for the next six years, working at renowned Roman restaurants learning a great deal about Italian food and wine in the process.
In 2004, I met my wife, Kaleigh, a Montana native, who was a student traveling and studying in Rome...

My 10 Favorite Motorcycle Roads in New England
These are presented in no particular order.
I've ridden all over New England the last 15 years and have found some truly amazing roads that beg to be ridden over and over again. I was looking for roads that have scenery, some history and outstanding curvy roads with a low traffic count.
There are some other roads that people may feel belong on the list (Kancamagus Highway or the Appalachian Gap for example), but I was looking for ones that didn't have too much traffic or LE activity.
Let me know if you have some other favorites. And sorry, Connecticut and Rhode Island...I just haven't ridden anything that compared to the ones in this video.

Motorcycle Adventure to Acadia and Swans Island, Maine 2017
In early Fall, 2017 my riding buddy and I took a motorcycle adventure trip to Acadia and visited Swans Island by ferry boat in Tremont, Maine. Maine is a beautiful state to visit any time of the year. Maine's natural beauty is consistent no matter what time of year you visit. Fall is my favorite time of year. I hope you enjoy this short video clip. Thank you for watching!
