Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain

SUMMARY
=======
The Denver Performing Arts Complex (sometimes referred to locally as The Plex, The DPAC or simply, Arts Complex) located in Denver, Colorado, is one of the largest performing arts centers in the United States. The DPAC is a four-block, 12-acre (49,000 m2) site containing ten performance spaces with over 10,000 seats connected by an 80 ft (24 m) tall glass roof. It is home to a theatre company, Broadway touring productions, contemporary dance and ballet, chorales, a symphony orchestra, opera and more.
The City and County of Denver’s Arts & Venues owns and operates the three largest theatres in DPAC, the Ellie Caulkins Opera House, the Buell Theatre and Boettcher Concert Hall. The Helen Bonfils Theatre Complex within DPAC is managed and operated by the Denver Center for the Performing Arts (DCPA).
Performing arts organizations which regularly appear in one or other of the performance spaces include the Colorado Ballet, the Colorado Symphony, Opera Colorado and the Denver Center for the Performing Arts’ theatrical divisions — Denver Center Broadway and Denver Center Theatre Company.
MONTAGE: Just Like Us
Based on Helen Thorpe's bestselling book, this play follows four Latina girls in Denver as immigration status begins to erode their opportunities — and their friendships. When the crime of an illegal immigrant ignites a political firestorm, the girls, the city and the nation must ask themselves who has the right to live in America when achievements and documents collide.

DCPA, Macy's help 'Make-A-Wish' come true
For National Believe Day, the DCPA teamed with Macy's to bring a young woman named Carter an unforgettable experience at the Cherry Creek Shopping Center. She was treated to performances by DCPA actors singing some of her favorite songs, and dance lessons from the Denver Broncos cheerleaders and Monte Vista High School pom squad. Her prizes included autographed posters, free DCPA Education classes and the coup de gras ... an all-expenses trip to New York to see a Broadway musical. The Make-A-Wish Foundation grant the wish of every child diagnosed with a life-threatening medical condition. In the United States and its territories, on average, a wish is granted every 35 minutes. DCPA performers include Steven J. Burge, Napoleon M. Douglas, Christine Rowan and Jackie Vanderbeck. Video by David Lenk for the DCPA NewsCenter.
'All the Way' cast read Civil Rights Act of 1964
The Civil Rights Act of 1964 is a landmark piece of legislation signed into law by President Lyndon Johnson on July 2, 1964, that prohibited discrimination in public places, provided for the integration of schools and other public facilities, and made employment discrimination illegal. This document was the most sweeping civil rights legislation since Reconstruction.
All the Way, a riveting new play by Robert Schenkkan, is a compelling account of how Johnson worked with Martin Luther King Jr. to push that landmark legislation through a recalcitrant Congress. The DCPA Theatre Company is presenting the regional premiere of All the Way from Jan 29-Feb 28. Cast members recently took time to record the historic legislation for the video above.

Denver RTD - 16th Street MallRide Compilation
Denver RTD has run the Free 16th Street MallRide service since 1982. The first MallRide buses were diesel-powered and electric-powered MCR/Vetter low-floor buses, which were replaced by the CNG hybrid TransTeq EcoMark 45-foot low-floor buses. Originally, the replacements for the TransTeq buses were to be 36 45-foot Designline EcoSaver hybrid-electric buses, but the company went out of business, but not after delivering two of the units. Eventually, BYD Motors from China received the order for 36 replacement buses, all of which are in service now. These buses travel up and down the 16th Street Mall, which was built for transit and pedestrian shopping access only, stopping at every city block carrying shoppers, diners, commuters, and party-goers 21 hours a day, 7 days a week. The service runs from the Civic Center Station at 16th/Broadway to Union Station at 16th/Wewatta.
The Roller Coaster Cab at the Curtis Hotel in Denver, CO - Car 3
Denver is such a beautiful, youthful, and fun place to be. My hotel, The Curtis, a Doubletree by Hilton only enhanced that experience. Each floor has a different name, I stayed on the chick flick floor, kind of ironic. Levels two and three are the conference/convention center and there are gigantic connect four and chess boards. That was so much fun!
The elevators are small. I notice that the building is thirty years old or older meaning the hotel was extensively renovated. It was a job well done. I HIGHLY recommend staying at this property.

It’s 1983, the United States and The Soviet Union are still mired in the Cold War, and the only hero that can end it is… you!

Suit up and work as a team to gather information, solve puzzles, and make increasingly difficult decisions in real time. Do you have what it takes to complete The Defenders’ final mission and save the world?
The best puzzle and games designers from Chicago have teamed up to create a wholly new experiment in immersive storytelling and stagecraft. Alley Art Denver - Coast to Coast Tour
ALLEY ART headed west to the mile high city of Denver for it's 4th event. Changing the pace a bit, we took over a downtown cafe, Backstage Coffee, which is located in the theatre district.
While many were quickly taking lunch breaks between work at the office we still managed to have a great showing of people willing to pause and get creative with us.
We also had a great group of artists showing their work while we jammed to the chill jams of local DJ, Jillian Grutta.

Colorado Fall Theatre Preview: Creede Repertory Theatre’s ‘General Store’
Each fall, the DCPA NewsCenter offers a list of 10 intriguing titles to watch on theatre stages throughout Colorado. This year, we are offering 10 musicals AND 10 plays. Here, Logan Ernstthal talks about Creede Repertory Theatre’s world-premiere play ‘General Store,’ written by Colorado’s Brian Watkins. “It’s funny. It’s scary. It’s a mystery. And it’s got a huge metaphor hiding under the floorboards,” Ernstthal said. “It’s as if Sam Shepard, the Coen Brothers and Stephen King had a love child.” Plays through Sept. 16, 2017, at 124 Main St. in Creede, located 250 miles southwest of Denver. Call 719-658-2540 or go to CreedeRep.Org. Read more about this and other news of the Colorado theatre community at MyDenverCenter.Org.
