Deolo hill is located northeast of the town Kalimpong. The hill is 5590 ft high and is the highest point of Kalimpong town. You can reach directly to Deolo Hill from NJP station or Bagdogra airport. You may also visit there on a day tour from Kalimpong town.
Deolo hill is famous for its scenic beauty. The hill is surrounded by a well-maintained garden. There are nice and clean stone paths in between the garden. You can enjoy the calm and quiet nature while walking through these paths.
At the base of the hill, car parking place is available. Here you may observe small crowds during summer and winter as this is one of the most popular picnic spots near Kalimpong town.
On top of Deolo hill, there is a tourist lodge available for night stay. The building of the tourist lodge is very beautiful and you can get a 360-degree view of the surrounding hills from this lodge. A 4-5 minutes’ walk is required to reach the tourist lodge from the base of the hill.
There is a picturesque park adjacent to the tourist lodge which is dotted will many colorful flowers. There are swings, sliders, and horse riding facilities for kids. There are also some souvenir stalls which sell local products. You may enjoy shopping here. Also, you can take photos wearing local clothes. On a clear day, you can see snow-capped Himalayan mountain range from this place.
You will find many big and small trees at the back of the tourist lodge. From this hill, you can get a clear view of river Teesta and Kalimpong town.

Deolo Hill & Park, Kalimpong, Darjeeling | Kalimpong Tourist Places | Paragliding in Deolo Pahar
Deolo Hill & Park or Deolo Pahar is the main attraction of Kalimpong, Darjeeling. Deolo is the most famous tourist places of Kalimpong. Paragliding is the major attraction of Kalimpong. Kalimpong is 5590 feet above from sea level. There is a park on the top of the hill with a well maintained garden. Near Deolo there is a temple of Hanuman with a huge statue of Lord Hanuman named Hanuman Tok. There is an open space in the centre of the park for horse riding and for roaming about. Famous Delo bunglow is adjacent to the Delo park. There are a lot of playing options for kids here.
Villages of Relli valley and the Teesta river valley are clearly visible from here. Snow covered mountains of Sikkim are also visible from here. If weather is clear and cloudless one can have a majestic view of Kanchenjunga from Delo view point. If you are an adventure lover you can enjoy paragliding here. It will take Rs 3000 per person to take a 10 minute ride. If you are visiting Kalimpong you should not miss Delo Hill. It takes only Rs 250 in taxi from Kalimpong to Delo.

Deolo Hill is one of the two hills that the town of Kalimpong stands between. Kalimpong is situated on a ridge connecting the two hills, Durpin and Deolo. The hill is 1,704 metres (5,590 feet) above msl and is the highest point of Kalimpong town. The hill is located north east of the town. Three water reservoirs, two of which serve as the primary drinking water source to the town are present atop this hill. The town of Kalimpong, the surrounding villages of Relli valley, Teesta River and its valleys all can be viewed from this point.[1]
On a clear day, the snow-clad mountains of West Sikkim are also visible from this hill. At the summit of this hill, there is a park built for recreation purposes which feature exotic flowers. The park is a popular picnic spot for tourists as well as locals. Near the park a Hindu temple is also a visited spot. How to reach Deolo?
You may reach NJP or Bagdogra by train or air. You may book an overnight journey from Howrah or Sealdah to NJP through train which would take almost 12 hours.
From NJP, you may hire a Car and it would take almost 3 hours to reach Deolo. Or you may avail Bus Service also from NJP which would take 3 hours to drop you at Kalimpong and from there you may again book a Car which would take almost 1/2 hour to reach Deolo.
From Bagdogra Station, it takes 3.5 hours to reach Deolo if you avail Car Services.

THRILLING PARAGLIDING EXPERIENCE AT DEOLO HILL, KALIMPONG, INDIA
Paragliding is the recreational and competitive adventure sport of flying paragliders: lightweight, free-flying, foot-launched glider aircraft with no rigid primary structure. The pilot sits in a harness suspended below a fabric wing. Wing shape is maintained by the suspension lines, the pressure of air entering vents in the front of the wing, and the aerodynamic forces of the air flowing over the outside.
Despite not using an engine, paraglider flights can last many hours and cover many hundreds of kilometers, though flights of one to two hours and covering some tens of kilometers are more the norm. By skillful exploitation of sources of lift, the pilot may gain height, often climbing to altitudes of a few thousand meters.

Paragliding (fly like bird) at Kalimpong on Delo Hill_October 2015
During my Sikkim visit in October 2015 i also had an opportunity to do Paragliding at Kalimpong on Delo Hill which is in West Bengal just outside Sikkim. i did it with HANS Gliders and my Pilot was Om Prakash. Om was awesome and he made my first Paragliding experience a memorable one.

Kalimpong is a hill station in the Indian state of West Bengal. It is located at an average elevation of 1,250 metres (4,101 ft). The town is the headquarters of the Kalimpong district.

Kalimpong is a hill station in the Mahabharat Range (or Lesser Himalaya) in the Indian state of West Bengal. It is located at an average elevation of 1,250 metres (4,101 ft). The town is the headquarters of the Kalimpong subdivision, a part of the district of Darjeeling. The Indian Army's 27 Mountain Division is located on the outskirts of the town. Kalimpong is known for its educational institutions many of which were established during the British colonial period. It used to be a gateway in the trade between Tibet and India prior to China's annexation of Tibet and the Sino-Indian War. Kalimpong and neighbouring Darjeeling were major centres calling for a separate Gorkhaland state in the 1980s. There has been a Rotary club in Kalimpong since 1993.
Kalimpong, located on a ridge overlooking the Teesta River, is a tourist destination owing to its temperate climate and proximity to popular tourist locations in the region. Horticulture is also important to Kalimpong: it has a flower market notable for its wide array of orchids; nurseries, which export Himalayan grown flower bulbs, tubers and rhizomes, contribute to the economy of Kalimpong.[2] Home to ethnic Nepalis, indigenous ethnic groups and non-native migrants from other parts of India, the town also is a religious centre of Buddhism. The Buddhist monastery Zang Dhok Palri Phodang holds a number of rare Tibetan Buddhist scriptures.
The Kalimpong Science Centre, established under the DGHC (Darjeeling Gorkha Hill Council) in 2008 is a recent tourist attraction.The Science Centre, which provides for scientific awareness among the school students of the town and the locals,is located on the Deolo Hill on the way to the Deolo tourist lodge.
