Ho Chi Minh City On Your Own (Saigon), Vietnam - What to do on Your Day in Port
This is a tour we purchased while onboard the Majestic Princess. We were on the 21 day Silk Road Journey maiden voyage. This was an 'On Your Own' tour where you get on a bus and they drop you in a city to wander on your own for a few hours. We paid $80 US each. We boarded a bus at the port city of Phu My, Vietnam and drove for about an hour and a half (each way) to Ho Chi Minh City, which used to be called Saigon. They dropped us of at the Bitexco Financial Tower. We met back there 3 1/2 hours later. We caught a cab to Ngoc Hoang Pagoda, which is widely known as the Jade Emperor Palace. After walking around there for a while we caught another cab to Chợ Bến Thành aka: Ben Thanh Market. It is a large shopping mall full of individual vendors selling everything. The cab rides were $6 and $5 respectively. The vietnamese currency is the Dong. It is about $1 US = 23,000 Dong.
After the market we strolled towards the Bitexco Financial Tower. Walking in town is an exciting experience. Pedestrians don't seem to have the right of way. On the way to the Tower we detoured down a street with a Farmer's Market going on. They had all kinds of fresh food there, including live crabs and snails.
Once we got to the tower we found out that the bar on the 52nd floor had a happy hour, and great views of the city. The observation deck, on the 49th floor, is $9 US p/p. We had a pitcher of the local beer, Tiger, and some garlic bread for about $6 US.
When we got ready to re-board the buses there was a little confusion. There were so many buses it took some time to find ours. Plus, it started pouring rain as we waited.
Ho Chi Minh City is is bustling town and very exciting to visit.

Quan Ca Can, Vietnam, Saigon – Chowzter Winner, Asia 2015
Banh Bao, which translates literally as “wrapping cake,” is one of the culinary legacies of Vietnam's 10 centuries of Chinese rule. Since the Chinese left, about 1,000 years ago, the Saigonese have been perfecting their version of these steamed ball-shaped buns filled with a savory mix of spiced pork and quail eggs. Unlike most banh bao vendors in Saigon, who serve pork only, Quan Ca Can offers a range of non-traditional fillings, including beef, char siu, chicken, vegetarian, a super-delicious mixed version and a flat custard-filled dessert dumpling. These amazing treats are Chowzter's tastiest Dumplings in Asia for 2015. The Banh Bao at Quan Ca Can was nominated by Barbara Adam and Vu Vo, Chief Chowzters for Saigon.
Chowzter is the largest global network of local food experts discovering the tastiest feasts on the planet.

Cafe Cardinal, one of Southeast Asia’s most distinctive all-day dining venues, delivers stunning views of Saigon from its airy, sixth floor perch, as well as a tempting take on the artful culinary work conducted in its show kitchen – segueing from a continental menu by day to distinctly French flavours by night.
At The Royal Pavilion, a team of Vietnam’s most skilled Hong Kongese chefs showcase sophisticated fare in a regal setting while at R&J, traditional Italian dishes marked by subtle detours into contemporary culinary trends are served up in a setting as passionate as its inspiration – Romeo & Juliet.
The infamous and ingenious Ho Chi Minh Trail - Cameron Paterson

The Ho Chi Minh Trail not only connected North and South Vietnam during a brutal war but also aided Vietnamese soldiers. The trail shaved nearly five months of time off of the trip and was used as a secret weapon of sorts. Cameron Paterson describes the history and usage of the infamous trail.

VIETNAM 2k18
I recently just went on a trip to my motherland of Vietnam. This trip over the summer has been one of a life-time. Being an Asian-American growing up in the United States, I learned a good enough about how life is on the other side of the world. On this trip, I decided to record this one in a life-time moment and share it all with you. Enjoy! PLEASE SHARE WITH YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY :)

The Saigon's Hidden Secret Introduction
Most visitors to Ho Chi Minh City will make the hour or so drive out of town to visit the legendary Cu Chi tunnels.
What most won't realize is that right under their feet in the city itself is a subterranean network, smaller but no less remarkable than the claustrophobic tunnels that housed so many Vietnamese fighters during the war...

A little detour: Vietnam 2018
See where we are now ???? [ alittledetour.ca ]
Olivier’s parents met us in Vietnam ???????? for 3 weeks - it’s like they missed us or something ????
Saigon had the most crazy streets we’ve ever seen in our lives and we quickly had to learn to cross them. After two days of practice, we headed out on a whirlwind adventure across the country, stopping in a lot of great places along the way.
We visited a ton of places in just three weeks. But here are some stories of the tours, places and things we saw along the way:
Saigon & Dalat:
Quy Nhon & Hoi An:
Hue, Phong Nha & Ninh Binh

Ho Chi Minh City/My Birthday VLOG | SeSe
Hellooooo everyone. This is my first VLOG. I went to Vietnam on Dec 17-20 2015. And Dec 17th is my birthday that's why it's also Birthday Vlog. It was my first time there with good and bad experience. I hope you guys enjoy my video and thank you for watching.

Ho Chi Minh Saigon Municipal Theatre
Sophian 23/3/12. Municipal Theatre cherub domes. Municipal Theatre Ho Chi Minh Vietnam entertainment live performance. Every 7 days the Municipal Theatre has a varying programme, for example the Eastern-European-style gymnastics, classical music, or traditional Vietnamese theatre. Performances artlessly start at 8pm - clarify at the theatre or inquire at your concierge. Contrararily if there's naught occuring when you're in burg, you can at measure drop into the chique Q Bar, counter-clockwise to the structure, for a breezer. Here, we notice an opera performance showcasing the musical genre that is seemingly from the cultural Vietnamese era. Do realise that this is a bustling street down Ho Chi Minh, yet motorists & cyclos alike precariously stop their vehicles in the middle of the road to spectate the eargasmic piece. For some reason, everyone else in the traffic is understanding enough to detour around this unexpected mess.

Travel Day - Malaysia to Vietnam (VLOG and Visa Issues)
It's time for another #TravelDay! We are flying to #Hanoi, Vietnam from our layover in Kuala Lumpur.
We spent a few days in KL coming from Bali, Indonesia. We decided to film the #VietnamArrival process since getting a visa for Vietnam was one of the most difficult process we've come across in Southeast Asia. Our worst fear happened and we ended up running into an issue with our Vietnamese Visa! Gotta love those travel days!
