Stranahan's Colorado Whiskey Tour Part 2
Stranahan's Colorado Whiskey Tour
Hey you guys! Thanks for joining me on another journey. My buddy Cole & I took a tour of Stranahan's in Denver, Colorado.
This is what Wikipedia has to say about the history of Stranahan's...
Stranahan's was founded by Jess Graber and George Stranahan, after whom the whiskey is named, in Colorado in 2004.[1][2] In 1998, Graber, a volunteer firefighter, met Stranahan, the founder and owner of Flying Dog Brewery, while fighting a fire at Stranahan's barn.[3][4] They struck up a conversation about whiskey, and were soon in business together.[4] One of the first craft whiskey distillers in the US,[5] Stranahan's is said to have kicked off the Colorado distilling craze with its whiskey and the designation it invented, Rocky Mountain Whiskey.[6] It was Colorado's first microdistillery,[7] and the state's first legal distillery since Prohibition.[8]
The first batch of Stranahan's Colorado Whiskey was distilled in 2004 and bottled in 2006.[4] Stranahan's was sold to New Jersey-based Proximo Spirits in 2010, with operations remaining in Colorado.[1] By 2012, Proximo had increased whiskey production from around 12 barrels per week to 30, with plans to grow into the high forties.[1][4] Stranahan's was sold in 38 states and 7 countries until 2010, when Proximo decided to scale down sales to mostly the Colorado area, maintaining the whiskey's availability in its home state.[4][9]
Since 2011, Rob Dietrich has served as Stranahan's head distiller, after taking over from original head distiller Jake Norris.

Old Nick Williams Distillery | Full Episode | RackHouse Whiskey Club Featured Distillery
Is Old Nick Williams Distillery the most famous forgotten distillery in the US? Distilling since 1768, prohibition decimated the business. But now, they’re back. United States Presidents use to write his great-grandfather telling him how great the whiskey is. The great-grandson to Old Nick has revived the distillery in amazing fashion. Old Nick Williams Bourbon won double gold at the San Francisco Spirits Competition and is being featured in the RackHouse Whiskey Club February Box. The Williams family has been fighting the government for over 200 years. They don't plan on quitting anytime soon.

Fun Things To Do In Denver: Visiting Mile High Spirits (USA Today)
What’s New at Mile High Spirits in Denver
The local distillery recently opened a new tasting room and launched a unique new drink: Moscow mule in a can.
When Mile High Spirits’ tasting room opened in Denver in 2012, the owners’ goal was to welcome locals and visitors alike to try his small batch, hand crafted spirits in a welcoming atmosphere accessible to all. With Denver’s craft distilling industry booming, this fall was quite a busy time for the local business, which just opened up a brand new tasting room and launched an exciting new product that’s sure to be a crowd favorite.
The new tasting room, located just seven blocks away from the original location, is over 4,000 square feet large, a whopping 2,200 square feet larger than before. It’s right in the heart of downtown Denver, only a short walk from Coors Field and many other area attractions.
The tasting room’s atmosphere is industrial-chic with a large bar, state-of-the-art sound system and huge patio where you’ll often find some of the city’s most delicious food trucks. There’s also a juke box, a pool table, TVs and plenty of options for lounging. Weather permitting, picnic tables and yard games will keep guests entertained day and night in the warmer months. Essentially, Mile High Spirits took the same vibe they were offering before in their original location and expanded on it a short distance away.
While the fun atmosphere keeps everyone happy, they’re really all there for one thing: the Moscow Mules. Mile High Spirits is known for making Denver’s best version of the classic cocktail, and as of this fall you can now take its top offering home with you. That’s right, Mile High Spirits has become the first company in the United States (and maybe the world?) to launch a Moscow Mule in a can. Called Punching Mule, the delicious ready-to-drink beverage is already available all over Colorado, and plans are in the works to bring it to the rest of the country over the next five years.
Aside from the Moscow Mule, Mile High Spirits serves up plenty of other fresh and unique cocktails in its tasting room. Mile High Spirits currently produces Fireside Whisky, Elevate Vodka, Denver Dry Gin and Pegleg Rum, and the distillery is known for its top quality ingredients like organic non-GMO corn and pure Rocky Mountain water.
