STORYLINE:
The Archbishop of Vienna, Cardinal Christoph Schoenborn, has often been mentioned as one of the leading contenders to be the next pope.
At 60 years old, he is the youngest of the major contenders.
He is multilingual, a scholar and he is respected by Jews, Muslims and Orthodox Christians.
Schoenborn refuses to comment publicly on his position as one of the favourites to succeed Pope John Paul II; friends say he would serve if chosen - but not eagerly.
Schoenborn has said he will not speak to the media until after a new pontiff has been elected.
He has attempted to maintain a low profile as leader of Austria's Roman Catholics, but that goal has not always been easy.
The austere, soft-spoken cardinal owed a key promotion ten years ago to a scandal involving his predecessor, Hans Groer, who was accused of abusing young boys.
Last year he had to confront a child pornography scandal in a rural diocese.
Ideologically, his tenure has been marked by a turn away from inner-church reform, disappointing Catholics looking for more rights for women or compromise on priesthood and marriage.
Instead he has focused on respect for Catholic dogma - while understanding those who fall by the wayside.
Born on January 22, 1945 into an aristocratic Bohemian family, Schoenborn's destiny appeared to have been influenced by his heritage - 19 of his
ancestors were priests, bishops or archbishops.
After joining the Dominican order in 1963, he was ordained into the priesthood in 1970 by Cardinal Franz Koenig.
Like most Austrians, Schoenborn idolised Koenig for his social engagement and courage to speak out on controversial issues. But Koenig's overwhelming personality initially eclipsed Schoenborn.
Fluent in French and Italian, proficient in English and Spanish, Schoenborn is well-connected in the Vatican, with friends that include Cardinals Godfried Danneels of Belgium and Jean-Marie Lustiger of France, both also papal contenders.

[Wikipedia] Reformed Church in Austria
The Reformed Church in Austria (Evangelical Church of the Helvetic Confession) is a Christian denomination in Austria. The origin of the church can traced to the Deed of tolerance in 1781 and in 1861. In the 16th century, two thirds of the Austrian population was Evangelical. The Counter-Reformation changed this, and evangelical worship was not permitted or restricted until the toleration act. Some Protestants were able to survive this decades in the valleys of the mountains of Carinthia and Upper Austria. In 1861 full freedom of Protestant worship and public practice were granted. The Reformed church traces its theological roots to Calvin and Zwingli. The church's name in German is Evangelische Kirche H.B.- Heidelberger Bekenntnis means Heidelberg Catechism. The church has 9 congregations and 13,590 members. The church affirms the Heidelberg Catechism, Second Helvetic Confession, the Apostles Creed and the Nicene Creed. Ordination of women and blessing of same-sex marriages are allowed.Member of the World Communion of Reformed Churches.
CHRISTMAS TIME IN VIENNA, WALKING AROUND VIENNA
CHRISTMAS TIME IN VIENNA, WALKING AROUND VIENNA., Vienna is the federal capital and largest city of Austria, and one of the nine states of Austria. Vienna is Austria's primate city, with a population of about 1.9 million (2.6 million within the metropolitan area, nearly one third of Austria's population), and its cultural, economic, and political centre. It is the 7th-largest city by population within city limits in the European Union. Until the beginning of the 20th century, it was the largest German-speaking city in the world, and before the splitting of the Austro-Hungarian Empire in World War I, the city had 2 million inhabitants. Today, it has the second largest number of German speakers after Berlin. Vienna is host to many major international organizations, including the United Nations and OPEC. The city is located in the eastern part of Austria and is close to the borders of the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Hungary. These regions work together in a European Centrope border region. Along with nearby Bratislava, Vienna forms a metropolitan region with 3 million inhabitants. In 2001, the city centre was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In July 2017 it was moved to the list of World Heritage in Danger.
Apart from being regarded as the City of Music because of its musical legacy, Vienna is also said to be The City of Dreams because it was home to the world's first psychoanalyst – Sigmund Freud. The city's roots lie in early Celtic and Roman settlements that transformed into a Medieval and Baroque city, and then the capital of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. It is well known for having played an essential role as a leading European music centre, from the great age of Viennese Classicism through the early part of the 20th century. The historic centre of Vienna is rich in architectural ensembles, including Baroque castles and gardens, and the late-19th-century Ringstraße lined with grand buildings, monuments and parks.
Vienna is known for its high quality of life. In a 2005 study of 127 world cities, the Economist Intelligence Unit ranked the city first (in a tie with Vancouver and San Francisco) for the world's most liveable cities. Between 2011 and 2015, Vienna was ranked second, behind Melbourne. In 2018, it replaced Melbourne as the number one spot. For eight consecutive years (2009–2016), the human-resource-consulting firm Mercer ranked Vienna first in its annual Quality of Living survey of hundreds of cities around the world, a title the city still held in 2016. Monocle's 2015 Quality of Life Survey ranked Vienna second on a list of the top 25 cities in the world to make a base within.
The UN-Habitat classified Vienna as the most prosperous city in the world in 2012/2013. The city was ranked 1st globally for its culture of innovation in 2007 and 2008, and sixth globally (out of 256 cities) in the 2014 Innovation Cities Index, which analyzed 162 indicators in covering three areas: culture, infrastructure, and markets. Vienna regularly hosts urban planning conferences and is often used as a case study by urban planners.
Between 2005 and 2010, Vienna was the world's number-one destination for international congresses and conventions. It attracts over 6.8 million tourists a year

I can certainly say that in his function as the head of this sacred congregation for the doctrine of the faith, he had a clear policy of not covering up but clearing up and clarifying. I have already certainly said that this has not always found favour in the Vatican, but his position is clear.

STORYLINE:
Austria''s top Catholic church official has defended the pope against suggestions he was involved in the cover-up of church abuse.
Speaking in Vienna on Thursday, Cardinal Christoph Schoenborn said the pope had a very clear anti-cover-up policy while he was head of the Vatican''s doctrinal office, while this didn''t always find favour in the Vatican.
Standing alongside Schoenborn as he made the comments was Waltraud Klassnic, a Catholic church abuse investigator.
Klassnic said on Thursday that she was free to make her own decisions during her investigations.
This freedom is not weakened but strengthened now. I''m guaranteed to express what I''m thinking now and in the future, she said.
In recent weeks, abuse allegations against Catholic clergy and institutions have surfaced in various European countries, including Austria.
The scandal has raised questions about the pope''s role in keeping alleged sex abuse cases quiet.
Schoenborn has known the pope for 37 years and is considered to be one of his confidantes.
He was speaking just hours after acknowledging church guilt in the controversy.

While I constantly try to find the positives in every place I visit, there are few places that I just simply didn't enjoy.
The country of Brunei is one of them.
I went to Brunei back in 2014, three years before I made videos, but my negative experiences in the country have stuck in my mind ever since. That, combined with its absurd human rights laws such as stoning to death LGBT members, I was pushed to make this video.
Have you ever visited any countries that you didn't enjoy? Please share below, I'm curious to know.

Easter Celebration at the International Chapel of Vienna
Easter is the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus, who died on a cross to pay for the sins of the world, and rose back to life on the third day as the scriptures had prophesied. Through this greatest act of love and rescue, God made it possible for anyone who believes to come to him for total forgiveness and eternal life.
On a sunny Easter Sunday, the International Chapel of Vienna gathered at the Donau Park to celebrate these truths.
