Cycling in Ha Giang is not for the faint hearted; riders there will face really tough climbs, with gradients often going over 10% and long stretches of road in which you will not see a single village or hamlet. But, hey, if you go there, that’s what you actually wants. And the rewards that such a trip offer are difficult to match: breathtaking views from some of the highest and most remote roads in Vietnam, discovering a land that has been almost unscathed by development and mass tourism, meeting ethnic minorities who are not used to show off for foreigners and might not be as interested in talking to you as you would expect.
Ma Pi Leng, the king of all passes in Viet Nam, is the name of the most dangerous pass in Ha Giang with total length of 20km and it lies on Happiness road which connects Ha Giang city, Dong Văn district and Meo Vac town.

This is the beginning of our greatest Vietnam adventure of our 182 Days here, doing the Dong Van Karst Plateau Geopark Loop on motorbikes with our guide Chu Chu!
We took off from Ha Giang, checked out a small local market in Quyet Thien before we arrive at our really lovely homestay in Xa Quan Ba.

Lùng Tám is a H’mong village at the Quản Bạ valley region producing linen! We visited this little communal weaving wokshop. The woman on the stone seasaw to soften the fabric was my favorite.
You actually see women making linen strings everywhere when crossing the Goepark just like the person at the end of this video.
